Aerosoles Mr. Softee
Affordable Comfort Shoes

I’m going to get comments about how flexible outsoles are no good for the feet. That’s true if you have toe pain from arthritis or hallux rigidus and need to restrict movement of the forefoot. But I’ve received emails recently from readers with Morton’s Neuroma, diabetes and other conditions such as swollen feet, bunions and hammertoes. Rigid shoes or footwear with stiff leather only aggravates their feet. So, I’m going against the grain recommending two styles by Aerosoles for women that suffer from these conditions.
The Mr. Softee by Aerosoles is a simple flat with a roomy toe box, flexible outsole and padded footbed. If you’re tired of ballet flats with vamps that cross right across the sensitive bunions, consider Mr. Softee. There are no irritating seams and the microfiber suede sockliner feels great against the soles of the feet.
If you need arch support, you’d have to add an insole as the Mr. Softee doesn’t specialize in it.
I like wearing my black Mr. Softees around town. They’re easy to slip-on and feel like slippers. They have a classic look and go with almost every casual outfit. But since I need arch support and fare better with a more rigid sole, I wouldn’t wear these for long walks.
A word on sizing: The Aerosoles Mr. Softee seems to run a little wide for my medium width foot. Or perhaps I should have ordered the 9.5 instead of the 10 as the leather is so soft and will most likely stretch. If you’re between sizes, I recommend sizing down. Available at in eight colors, whole and half sizes 5-10.5, 11, 12; medium and wide widths for $49.99-65.00 at Aerosoles.com, free shipping. Also available for $59 at Zappos, $35-59 at Amazon, $58.95 at Shoebuy.
