Ashley Graham wants people to know she hasn’t lost weight recently.
The curvy supermodel talked to Glamour after posing as the publication’s digital cover girl for November, discussing backlash she received for appearing to have lost weight in an Instagram post from October.
“It sucked that everybody had to go in on me like, ‘Oh, you lost so much weight,’” she said. “If these people actually knew me — which, you know, they don’t and maybe never will — they would know that my body just hasn’t changed.

“To be completely honest, I’ve gained weight in the last five years, not lost weight. If you actually look at my IMG Polaroids from when I first signed with them to now, you can tell I’m thicker. I mean, it’s just age. Geez. Whatever!”
Graham has been criticized for her figure in the past.
After posting workout videos on her Instagram account, she received comments claiming that she exercises to lose weight so she will no longer be considered a plus-size model. Graham didn’t hesitate to set the record straight, saying she exercises to feel good and get energized.
After all, she doesn’t let the hate stop her.
“You know, sometimes I write them back — like, one guy said to me, ‘Oh, you look pregnant,’ and I wrote back, ‘Oh no, honey, that’s just fat,’” she told Glamour.
What Ashley Graham tells herself when she looks in the mirror
Dec. 21, 201601:29
Graham has recently designed her own size-inclusive denim collection, become the first curvy model to crack Forbes’ list of the highest-paid models in 2017 and become a brand ambassador for Revlon.
She made waves in 2016, when she became the first plus-size model to make the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.
“When you’re the first of something, you are always going to have to answer the hard questions,” she told Glamour. “People aren’t going to like you. People are going to hate you. People are going to be confused by you because you’re the new kid in town. But if you ask me, I’m not the new kid in town — this body’s been around for centuries and now I’ve just been given a voice.”
Model Ashley Graham: ‘Beauty beyond size’ is my mantra
Jan. 24, 201803:14
Ashley Graham, who made history last year becoming the first curvy model to appear on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, just achieved another historic first, walking in the Michael Kors fall 2017 fashion show. “You have no idea ,” the model told Allure backstage. “This is my biggest show I’ve ever walked in, so I’m a little nervous. I’m trying to get that whole walk like a boy, keep-my-hips-and-head-contained thing down. Usually, it’s always supersexy for me, and this is like fashion fashion.”
Graham went on to say that although Kors isn’t the first mainstream designer to include diverse bodies in a runway presentation—Christian Siriano cast five plus-size models last season and ten this one, and Prabal Garung just announced a plus-size collaboration with Lane Bryant—it’s still a momentous occasion. “Fashion isn’t such a small world anymore. It’s broadening into all kinds of beauty. It’s about race, it’s about size, it’s about age. And when a designer isn’t just talking about it, but they’re putting their money where their mouth is? I think that’s the most beautiful thing,” she said.

Of course, all Graham’s nerves settled when she took her first step. (The model told us that the designer had reassured her, “You’re here for a reason. You’ve got this.”) Graham wore a black knit dress with a thigh-high slit, topped with a gray furry shrug. She didn’t stumble, slip, or stutter. And we weren’t one bit surprised.

Graham has had many achievements in her career—from giving a Tedx talk denouncing the term “plus-sized,” to being one of the first curve models to be signed by the mainstream modeling agency IMG, to designing a lingerie collection with Addition Elle—but in our March issue, she wasn’t afraid to say that she’s still seeking validation from the fashion world at large. “Riccardo Tisci, call me!” she joked in our pages, pointing out that luxury fashion houses like Givenchy still hadn’t given curvy models a nod. Well guess what? Michael Kors just called—and Graham answered with aplomb.

Model Ashley Graham had a hard time saying yes to a dress when she married videographer Justin Ervin in 2010. (The two are expecting their first child, a boy, later this year.) “I had difficulty finding something that made me feel special, something that would flatter and celebrate my body on one of the most important days of my life,” she says. “I’m a traditional girl and knew I wanted my gown to reflect that.”
With only two months between her engagement and the ceremony, she was in a bit of a time crunch so going the custom route wasn’t exactly an option—she had to buy off the rack. “I went home to Nebraska to shop with my mom and grandmother, and the dress I liked was only a size 10 with a corset,” she remembers. “We had to put a whole panel in the back so it fit properly, and even after that, I had a bit of a situation with my girls spilling out!”

This experience propelled Graham to collaborate on the Ashley Graham x Pronovias bridal collection, available in sizes 0 to 34—a much-needed offering in a space that hasn’t historically been inclusive when it comes to sizing. “Women should be empowered to be their most confident selves on their wedding day—looking and feeling beautiful—and that’s why it’s important for brands like Pronovias to provide luxurious options in all sizes and styles,” she says. Curvy sizes are often limited in bridal stores despite the fact that they are very much in demand. “Typically, we have to try on a smaller size and then either special order our size or reconstruct the dress to fit,” Graham explains. “So when you’re shopping, it makes it difficult to get that ‘this is the dress!’ feeling. One size and style does not fit all when it comes to wedding dresses.”
Thankfully, brides with curves are about to have more options. “It’s important for the bridal industry to be an advocate for inclusivity and body diversity,” Graham adds. “I want the Ashley Graham x Pronovias bride to feel bold, brilliant, and beautiful. I want her to be blissfully happy and confident as she embarks on this new chapter in her life.”
The collection is available at Pronovias boutiques and wholesale partners worldwide.

Here comes the bride—in a totally size-inclusive wedding dress collection that’s also absolutely gorgeous. Because, as nearly anyone who’s shopped for a wedding dress before will know, finding a gown that allows us to exude confidence and feel comfortable (and beautiful) can be stressful. It gets even more stressful when the number of gowns in your size are few and far between. The new Ashley Graham x Pronovias size-inclusive wedding dress collection, however, is a step in the right direction.
Plus-size model Ashley Graham has officially partnered with Pronovias to create the ultimate size-inclusive wedding dress collection. For brides of all sizes, these gowns have been designed to look amazing on every body type. The collection will carry sizes 0-34, which is a really huge deal. If you’re not used to shopping plus sizes, let me let you in on a little secret: Most brands that carry extended sizing (and some exclusively plus-size brands) don’t go above a 28 or 30. A wedding dress collection that goes beyond the typical range of sizes is an absolutely incredible step toward actual size-inclusivity in the fashion industry.

“From shopping for the perfect wedding dress to the big reveal on your special day, women should feel confident and empowered throughout the entire process. When I shopped for my wedding dress ten years ago, I had difficulty finding a style in my size that fit well and made me feel special. It’s necessary for the bridal industry to be an advocate for inclusivity and body diversity, and therefore I’m honored to partner with the luxury leader, Pronovias, to offer beautiful and comfortable options in many sizes and styles,” says Ashley Graham.

Ranging in price from $1310.50 to $4586.73 (converted from pounds), this 16-piece collection is absolutely stunning. Any bride would look gorgeous in these wedding dresses, and the fact that the entire line is size-inclusive is a serious cherry on top.

For all you brides with upcoming weddings, this collection is coming at a perfect time. So size limitations—just gorgeous gowns to help make your day as special (and stress-free) as possible.

Alessandra Rinaudo, Chief Artistic Officer of Pronovias, says, “I am such a fan of Ashley Graham. To me, she embodies perfectly the modern woman: one who exudes confidence, who is proud of her beauty. Thanks to her guidance we have improved further the fit and construction of our gowns to dress with style the dreams of all women. I am delighted to be working with her on this collection.” Same and same. I’m not getting married in 2020, but I’ll be dreaming about these dresses until that day comes.

It has been 9 years since Justin and I got married and I wouldn’t change anything about that day. EXCEPT…a lot of us know the feeling of compromising style for sizing, something you shouldn’t have to do on your wedding day! I found a silhouette that I loved, but I had to accept major details I didn’t want because there was nothing in that shape that fit me. And it wasn’t even the right size! We ended up adding a panel to a size 10 dress off the rack so it would fit my 14 frame to make it work. Finding a dream dress is something I would have loved to experience! Andddd I want all of you to be able to have! I’m so excited to be partnering with @pronovias to create a bridal line for everyone. The collection runs from size 0-34 and there is something for any type of bride! There are so many different dresses for anyone from the classic bride to the ultra glam bride and options with SLEEVES, which I love. By far my favorite part is that every dress has shapewear and bras built in. I can’t WAIT for you guys to see the collection when it’s out this March! You shouldn’t have to compromise who you are because of what’s on the rackAshley graham clothing line dresses
