Bella Hadid’s skin looks smoother and glowier than ever in her latest Instagram selfie—even without a stitch of visible makeup. The reason why isn’t a product as much as it is a person with a line of products: “A big kiss and shout out to @bbsturm @drbarbarasturm for not only being the woman boss she is, but changing my skin forever with her incredible facials,” the supermodel wrote on her Stories. And for all the skeptics out there, Hadid clarified that her post wasn’t an ad. “Just the truth!!! Thank you Barbara,” she added.

Hadid previously told Elle that she was not a fan of facials, but that must have been in her pre-Sturm days. “I’m not really into facials. I usually go for a massage because my bones are always hurting. And I like getting body scrubs, just to kind of get Fashion Week scrubbed off,” she said.

The supermodel also has a killer travel routine for keeping her skin fresh. “I travel a lot and I often work directly after landing. I use my mom’s advice, keeping my skin as good as it can be. So on a plane I wash my face as soon as I get on, I have all my serums and my night cream. And then I fall asleep and do it again when I wake up,” she told British Vogue. “So by the time I get off the plane my face is well rested and moisturised. And I always have a concealer with me, especially when I’m super-tired to get those dark eye bags away.”

Ultra Hydrating Overnight Mask, $29, Kiehls.com

If I ever have the chance to meet Bella Hadid, the first words out of my mouth will be “thank you for introducing me to the best moisturizing product of my life (and then I will tell her what a badass I think she is for the way she handled the whole Selena/The Weeknd thing). The overnight mask is absolutely life changing, and is a product I plan to keep in my own personal routine from here on out, especially in the winter. Every morning after I used it, I woke up with invisible pores and plump, hydrated skin… I skipped makeup pretty much every time I used it.

The cleanser comes in gel form, which usually dries my skin out, but this one made me feel extra clean and not too dehydrated. It’s a good keep-in-the-shower option, and can be used on your neck and shoulders as well as on your face. It wasn’t as much of a hero product as the mask, but it definitely did the trick.

So Who Wins?

I hate to say it, but I didn’t love either sister’s routine as much as I had hoped I would. Don’t get me wrong: Individually, each of the products were fantastic, but the routines as a whole we’re kind of… meh. Nothing terrible happened to my skin (not like the time I tried Zendaya’s makeup-wipes-only routine), but nothing out-of-this-world-amazing happened, either. I guess considering how incredible and glow-y both Gigi and Bella’s skin is, I expected that by using their products mine would turn out the same. (Is Dior Beauty Spokesmodel-level skin so much to ask for?!) The lesson here, though, transcends beyond just “which product is the best” — It’s about skincare as a whole. Just because a certain product, or certain set of products, gives one person flawless, runway ready skin does not mean that it’s the right choice for everyone. Finding the right skincare routine for you won’t happen simply by trusting celebrities, reading websites, or consulting product reviews (although those things can help point you in the right direction). Instead, it’s about knowing your skin. Talk to a dermatologist, try some things out and find out what works for you. Then, you can get your own photo-ready glow, which is way better than trying to get Gigi and Bella’s, anyway.

On skincare

I’m not even just saying this – I know I’m a walking Dior commercial – but I love the Dior Hydra Life Lotion-To-Foam Fresh Cleanser, it’s the green one. It’s the perfect foamy face wash. So I use that and then I’ll moisturise with the Hydra Life Fresh Hydration Sorbet Crème because it’s really light – it feels like you have nothing on. My face is always so dry, so it sucks up all the moisture. Then if I’m doing proper hair and make-up I’ll use the Glow Better Fresh Jelly Mask first. It just kind of plumps your skin up and makes it super moist and sort of tightens it… I don’t know what it does or how, but it’s something incredible.

On her beauty sins

I do sleep in my make-up sometimes but I always wake up at 2am, freaking out and feeling completely guilty about it. My body knows! So I’ll get up, wash my face, moisturise and go back to sleep because I hate waking up in the morning with make-up on – it’s the most horrible feeling. But I’m usually a good girl about taking my make-up off at night.

On make-up

I usually do concealer under the eyes, on my chin and around the nose, and then always a good bronzer and a good brow. That’s my top three for everyday. I love my natural freckles and just keeping a natural look. And I love mascara. What’s so amazing about the Dior Pump’n’Volume Mascara is that it looks like you’re wearing false lashes. It’s a perfect mascara. I always do a top lash, but I rarely put mascara on my bottom lashes. But with this mascara I’ve started doing my bottom lashes and it really opens up your eyes. And I always use a curler. With or without mascara, you always gotta curl.

On nails

I used to be obsessed with doing my own nails all the time, like in high school I’d have a different nail colour every day. Now it’s hard because I work pretty much every day and so my colours get changed. But I really love red.

On pampering

I love doing masks and my favourite thing ever is giving my friends masks. I’m like, “ok Alana this is perfect for your skin, and Ali this is perfect for your skin”. I know all my friends’ skin types now so it’s fun, they all have their favourites. I don’t really have a lot of time to do real pampering – I don’t get facials or anything like that. I don’t really know like, which facial you have to do or where you have to do it so I just stick to my own routine. But when I’m working a lot I like to get massages – just to kind of get my muscles back in check after being on a plane. But it’s hard with my schedule. I try to get a little time to myself.

On her ultimate beauty secret

I love my Dior Lip Glow. The whole range. The balm is amazing, you can’t go wrong, but I love the Lip Glow Pomade – it’s a lot glossier. Then there’s also the Lip Maximizer which I love – it gives a little plump in your lip which is always nice for a night out. It’s literally magic. I mean, if I leave the house without it I freak out. I’m like, “I need someone to bring it to me”.

On hair

A tight bun or ponytail is always my go-to hair – I like to keep my hair out of my face, especially when I’m working because it’s easy and I don’t have to think about it. My secret? A lot of hairspray. And a lot of gel. I used to use my brother’s mousse that he used on his hair, so I stole it and he’s probably mad at me that I did that.

On Dior

I say it every day but it’s still surreal working with Dior. It’s such a dream come true for me, especially for a beauty campaign because it’s something I’ve always wanted but never actually thought would come true. Just being able to work next to Peter and all the great people at Dior is so incredible. It’s a family, and such a great house so I feel honoured. And I get to wear the clothes almost every day which is a plus!

On Peter Philips

Peter and I have become so close and it’s always really fun. It’s also a plus that he does the most incredible make-up in the world. We work really well together and bounce ideas off each other, and he knows now how my face works and how I like my make-up. The Pump’n’Volume Mascara campaign was all shot in one day – I think I fell asleep in the chair probably like five times! Which is why Peter’s so great because he knows when I’m jet-lagged or on edge and he’ll just let me put my head back and he’ll do my face. I get really tired really quickly so I appreciate it! But the best part is seeing the campaign when it comes out. The outcome is always going to be great.

On London

I love London. It’s my favourite place and I love coming back here. But, every time I come here I have a great time and then can never remember the places I went, for next time! There’s this one burger spot that I’m obsessed with and I can’t figure the name out – I need to find it. I’ve been trying so hard – I know it has red table covers and that’s about it… I will find it!

On relaxation

The best way to relax is sleep! But I really love just being with my best friends sitting on my couch. When I get home I always call my girlfriends right when I get in the door and am like “come over, we’ll order in, watch movies and sit on the couch.” Just hang out. It makes me feel normal and calm. Just to be with people that don’t care about anything, they just mostly wanna eat my food.

On her getting-ready regime

I love listening to music when I’m getting ready. Just to kind of pump my energy up and get ready for the night. And I like to be around my friends and chill and be calm before the storm. I love getting ready with people – I hate getting ready by myself. I end up falling asleep or something. I need somebody to push me! Or else I’m like “sorry guys I’m really tired…”

On selfies

I just got an iPhone 7 which is insane because the selfies are so much better. On my old phone I hated taking selfies because the camera was so bad. But in terms of the perfect selfie – I guess good light is important. I take really good ugly selfies, that’s more my thing! But good light, and keep the angle high.

On fitness

It’s hard with my schedule – every time I go somewhere I’m like “can you send me a pair of Nikes? I forgot my shoes!” I always forget something. But even this morning I went and swam in the pool, just to keep moving. When I’m home I like to train harder than usual. I haven’t really worked out a lot since the last VS show. My trainer always calls once he knows I’m in town. Like “I know you’re back, where are you?” And I’m like “sleeping?!”. But when I have the time and energy I’ll go. I love doing abs and ass, and getting my blood pumping. Running around keeps most of my body in check but I eat really badly when I’m travelling because I can’t help myself. It’s my comfort.

On her guilty pleasures

Ooh. I mean, chicken nuggets, grilled cheeses, French fries, pizza, burgers. All those things. Usually my go-to is just ordering chicken fingers, grilled cheeses and fries when I get to the hotel. Your burgers here in London are really good.

On beauty inspirations

I love Elizabeth Taylor’s make-up – that was always beautiful. Anybody old-school from like the Fifties to the Nineties. There was always an iconic moment. Growing up I never really wore a lot of make-up so it wasn’t something I really looked at back then. I was a horse girl so I was more like, “what riding boots are those?” rather than wondering what make-up they were wearing. But since about age 18 I’ve loved keeping a simple look, and the Nineties supermodels always did that so well. All my inspirations end up going back to the big Nineties girls. Clean skin, a great brow… Christy Turlington, I mean, stop. It’s insane. Her face… it’s crazy, she’s too perfect.

On modelling advice

Just to be nice, be yourself. It’s harder to be mean to people than it is to be nice. I think that I’m learning a lot to have real conversations with people. And to not take things personally – everything happens for a reason. Those are my mantras.

On her ultimate beauty tip

I’d say keep it simple. Skin before anything is where you have to start. My number one beauty tip is take care of yourself, and the beauty comes after.

Does does makeup need to be heavier in the winter?

I don’t necessarily feel like it needs to be heavier. I love maximum wearability—things that give you the most bang for your buck and it’s not a lot of work. If I have a long wear foundation—Chanel just came out with one that I love and Dior has their new Forever Undercover 24H Foundation—I’ll mix it with my moisturizer and buff on the skin with a fluffy brush so it kind of gives you this fresh, whipped veil of makeup over the skin.

What common mistakes do you see people make when creating the “no makeup” look?

The key thing about mastering a “no makeup” look is not that there’s actually no makeup, but that it’s done masterfully with precision. It’s all about a balance. So when are having your meal, you have your salty and your sweet, and that’s what gives you that well-rounded flavor and experience. For every glowy product, you have a matte product to balance it out. If I’m doing a matte eyeshadow, then I want to highlight the inner corner and lid with a satin finish eyeshadow. Let’s say I’m doing the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, I will put that all over the skin and now the concealer I choose is probably going to be the Laura Mercier Camouflage because it’s a little bit of dryer texture. Otherwise, if I went with a glowy foundation and a creamy concealer, it’s too much slip, so there’s no grab. Then I’ll take a loose powder and powder her T-zone, and then decide where I want to pop. I’ll take a creamy highlighter and put that on the cheekbones, and then you can take a matte bronzer and sweep it under the cheekbones if you want a little bit of contour. It’s all about the highs and lows.

How you create a natural, dewy and radiant glow?

It’s all about maintenance. It’s what you do when you are not on the red carpet. One thing that I’m known for is the prep, so that’s masks and the massages and the exfoliating. I love Elizabeth Arden’s 5-Minute Facial, and then I’ll use exfoliating wipes which I get from CVS. Currently in my kit, I have the Burt’s Bees Exfoliating Facial Cleansing Towelettes, I love it because it’s natural and I’ll scrub the lips with it too. I’ve also been using Dr. Barbara Sturm Skin Food. It’s a multivitamin for your skin and it works; it makes your skin glow. I always use everything on myself first before I put it on my clients and I love it. At least if you do it a couple days before an event, you’ll see a big difference and truly glowy skin really comes from within. I also really love facial steaming; Panasonic makes this small facial steamer and I’ll put a couple of drops of essential oils in there.

How would you transform the look from the day to night?

Well it depends if you are an eye or a lip girl. Some women are lip girls, and if you are a lip girl, you have it very easy. You can just take a red lip and put that on; one of my favorite is Kyoto Red by Tatcha. If you are more of an eye girl, which actually 95 percent of my clients prefer eyes because once it’s on, that’s it. I love cream shadow, like Giorgio Armani Eye Tints. They have every color that you can imagine. I give it to all my clients so they have it as their secret weapon in their purse. I’ll usually use that as base and build powder shadows over that because it will just extend the wear even further. I love the Charlotte Tilbury Color Chameleon Pencils; you have to work fast because once they set you can’t move them. I recommend doing one eye at a time.

What is your favorite look for the winter season?

I’ve always been a really big fan of blush as eyeshadow. When I was a really young artist, I heard stories about François Nars taking his red lipsticks and using it as blush and eyeshadow, and I just thought that was so badass and rockstar. I just love that type of makeup; it’s warm, it’s sultry, it’s sexy and light. I’ve done looks like that on Ashley Graham, and on Bella Hadid in that iconic red dress that she wore in Cannes. I used Dior’s Diorific Matte Fluid Lip & Cheek Velvet Colour in a cherry red on her eyes, cheeks, and lips, and then I put the Dior Lip Glow over that. It’s all those finishing things that you can do, but it all starts with the “no makeup” look, that’s like bones of your look.

What are the five makeup products you should always keep in your bag?

A good eyelash curler; one of my favorites is from Tweezerman. Then a really amazing concealer. Some of favorites right now are by Clé de Peau, For darker skin tones, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer is fabulous, and if you need an even darker shade, the Kevyn Aucoin Skin Enhancers have a great range of colors. Brows are so important. My favorite is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Whiz. What I’ll do is put on powder first with the chubby brush and then I will go in with the mechanical pencil because it’s thin and precise. You could also use your smudger brush if you want that fuller brow look. Eyeliner pencils, because I am sucker for creating a full eye look and even f I don’t have a cream shadow near by, better believe I’m going to grab a pencil and create a full eyeliner look with a pencil. It’s how you blend it and buff. And black mascara always. Shiseido makes the best.

Bella Hadid is exactly how you’d picture her in person, which is to say, her skin is the stuff of dreams and she looks about as comfortable in a white bandage dress as most of us probably do in sweatpants. We caught up with her at a recent Bulgari event to interview her for our February issue (she’s the face of the brand’s new scent Goldea, the Roman Night), where she broke down everything big in her routine right now, from fragrance to makeup to skin care. In short: Yeah, she’s got those Hadid genes, but don’t underestimate the power of a routine face mask. Ahead are her best bits of advice.

Her signature look: “I do my own makeup when I’m not working. I’m all about taupe-y eyeshadow, a golden liner, and a dewy complexion with just a little shimmer. It makes everything glow better. I don’t like having a lot of makeup on my face. And I use an eyelash curler. With or without mascara, it’s a must.”

Her mom’s beauty advice: “My mom didn’t teach me a lot about makeup growing up because I started wearing it around the time she had gotten sick . But she did always tell me, “Skin before makeup.” So now I try to stay consistent with my routine, especially when traveling. I don’t leave home without serums or oils.”

Her dewy-skin secret: “I used to be able to wash my face at night and not do anything after, but now if I go to sleep without moisturizing, my face feels dry and tight. I love masks. I do them all the time. I’m obsessed with black peel-off masks, and I use a sheet mask on mornings when I have an early event. So reviving!”

Her best feature: “If we’re talking overall, then my personality. I love being funny and making other people happy. But if we’re talking my face, then my lips. They’re easy to enhance with liner.”

Her nineties aesthetic: “I throw something nineties into my look every day. I’m obsessed with scrunchies and those black stretchy headbands. I have 100 of them from putting my hair back to wash my face. My hairstylist Jen Atkin taught me that they’re really cute again.”

Her perfume M.O.: “Wearing captivating fragrances, like Goldea, definitely makes me feel sexier. I dab it on one wrist, dab it on the other, and then rub them together. My greatest scent memory: I’ll always remember the way my mom smelled growing up, like cardamom. It’s a beautiful smell. It reminds me of home and makes me feel the way I am around my mom: very grounded.”

Gigi Hadid’s Skincare Routine Shows She Loves Drugstore Beauty Products Just As Much As Anyone

When you’re just a mere simple commoner like me, making a trip to the drugstore to pick up your everyday beauty products is almost like second nature. And while most celebrities opt to use only the best of the best when it comes to their skincare, one model’s down-to-earth approach will make you feel even better about your staple purchases. On Sept. 10, Teen Vogue revealed a few of Gigi Hadid’s favorite drugstore beauty products after its team sat down with the runway star backstage at the Prabal Gurung show a day prior. And to be honest, the 23-year-old probably swears by a few of your own staples.

“I’ve always used CVS skincare,” Hadid said. “I just keep it simple. I feel like if you start using 30 products on your face, the second you don’t have those 30 products, your skin will need it. And I feel like just keeping your skin clean and being good to it is enough.”

So what are the model’s faves? Hadid shared that she loves and swears by both St. Ives Apricot Scrub, as well as Neutrogena’s Grapefruit Scrub. But don’t think the Vogue cover star has suddenly become coy when it comes to her skin — Hadid has always been quite the simple girl with her beauty regimen.

“I wash my face with the cheap stuff from CVS,” she told Into The Gloss back in 2014 when she was 19, later admitting to the St. Ives scrub being her go-to face wash at the time. “Whenever I run out I just go and pick whichever one I think looks the coolest or smells good.” Hadid also revealed that she uses Eucerin Intensive Repair Very Dry Skin Lotion ($13.29, CVS) on both her body and face.

But while she may not shell out any serious coins for most of her skincare routine, the model admitted that she does love to splurge on the Lemon Sugar Bath & Shower Gel from Fresh ($20, Sephora). “It’s my favorite thing in the world — it just smells so good,” she said.

JP Yim/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

But fast-forward to fashion month, and, of course, the star is required to wear a lot of makeup for her shows, which she told Teen Vogue typically results in her face breaking out. “When I have time off, which is obviously before fashion week, I try not to wear makeup at all,” she explained. However, she also revealed the one product she likes to use before the madness begins to give her effortlessly luminous skin. “During fashion week, for a glow, after I wash my face and stuff, if I have nothing else on, I like to use the Maybelline Strobe Stick, just on my cheek bones and on my nose,” she shared. “If you have nothing else, it’s a nice way just to look a little more glow-y before you get to work.”

So there you have it, folks! The simplest, easiest skincare routine ever — approved by the great Gigi Hadid herself.

Ah, celebrities, they’re just like us.

  • We are living for Bella’s beachy blonde curls and old school Hollywood vibes. So chic.

  • Anyone else tempted to chop off their longer locks in favour of a Bella style sharp bob? *calls hairdresser immediately*

  • Few people can pull off this slick pixie crop but Bella is certainly one of the lucky few. Obsessed!

  • Bella is a total beauty chameleon – and no matter what hairstyle she’s rocking, she’s doing it in style. This half-up look offset with soft bangs is a modern take on a classic look.

  • Bella is spotted in the middle of a crowd watching the UEFA Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain FC and Real Madrid CF. The look? Sleeked back low bun, natural makeup with rosy cheeks and defined brows. Gorge!

  • Whoa, what an edgy look from Bella! The model arrived at the Alexander Wang show with bold black and white eye makeup and a curly bob. This is the first time we’ve seen the model style her strands in a post-beach day ‘do and let us tell you, we’re really feeling the look.

  • Another day, another VS party, and yes, another slay. Bella looked absolutely stunning last night, matching her burgundy dress to her plum-hued lipstick and finishing her look with her signature feline-flick.

  • Bella Hadid looked gorgeous at the VS afterparty, trading her signature feline flick for a more pink-hued flirty makeup, and pairing it with a slick ‘do.

  • Bella Hadid stole the show at the American GLAMOUR Awards. We’re not worthy of this perfect feline flick, sleek pony and all those diamonds. Bow down.

  • When in Rome, Bella stole Ariana’s updo and paired it with a feline flick that might be one of our favourite beauty looks from the model. Absolute goals!

  • At the Moschino SS18 show, Bella, sister Gigi and the other models were given a pixie cut look – and we think she nailed it.

  • Wow! How stunning does Bella Hadid look? The supermodel stepped out channeling old Hollywood glamour, with a wavy lob, cat-eye and red lips, for the Bvlgari Party in Venice.

  • Bella attended the CFDA’s rocking a rather different look for her! We love her new glossy square bob, complete with a blunt fringe. Slight 80s vibes, no?!

  • Bella attended a Dior party in New York dressed in a cute denim combo and rocking no-makeup makeup.

  • Bella Hadid looked stunning at the GQ Men of The Year, where she picked up Model of The Year. She sported a bronzed look for the occasion with a glorious toffee-coloured glossy lip. She wore her brunette hair poker straight, and it looked divine.

  • We love a glitter lip, and Bella does it better than anyone! We adore this look which Bella wore for Versace Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2016-2017. This is basically the makeup version of Dorothy’s ruby red slippers in The Wizard of Oz.

  • Bella looked absolutely gorgeous on the red carpet in Cannes. Her slicked-back ponytail looked great with her bronzed cheekbones.

  • We were also rather obsessed with this faux fringe, which she rocked alongside her incredible red thigh-high split dress.

  • What a killer feline flick! Bella looked chic in a rose-tinted lipstick and a wavy updo.

  • This shimmering coral lipstick looks perfect when paired with Bella’s glossy brunette locks.

  • At the 2016 Met Gala, Bella kept it simple and minimalistic with a down-‘do and pared-down makeup.

  • We’re liking this glossy lip and deep side parting!

  • Bella knows what it means to let her earrings do the talking. Just check out these gorgeous metallic dazzlers!

  • Bella was spotted in full-on model mode at the SS16 Marc Jacobs show.

  • Bella always goes back to her faithful favourite: a super sleek centre parting. Top marks, Miss Hadid.

  • Not many people could get away with a super tight topknot, but along with her stunning eye makeup, Bella totally does.

  • We love this no makeup makeup look and subtle tousled beachy waves.

  • Bella keeps it simple in barely-there makeup and another perfect centre parting.

  • A similar look here, yet Bella experiments with a slightly brighter pout.

  • Bella looks noticeably younger here with little makeup and textured hair.

  • Just how does Bella get her hair so insanely shiny and glossy?! And we’d like to know which eyeliner she uses for this sleek look.

  • Look how young Bella looks here! Her hair is much shorter, and her makeup is barely-there.

What is your definition of beauty?

Being strong and confident from the inside out. I think the most beautiful people are the ones who leave an impression on your heart from their kindness and love.

What is your skin care regimen?

I usually keep my skin regime very simple. I wash my face, apply a good mask, followed by an oily serum.

Tell us about your typical makeup routine?

My typical makeup includes beautiful, glowy skin, a gold eye, and long, thin eye liner.

As a model, does your routine change from working days to non-working days? What about day to night?

I always like to keep my skin care routine consistent. I have very sensitive skin so I like to stay with the products that I know are good for me.

Growing up my mom taught me about products that are good for your skin, specifically serums and oils. She was an advocate for healthy skin and started to teach me about a proper skin routine before makeup.

What do you look for when selecting makeup (ease of use, color, etc.)?

I always select shades that I know will go well with my eye color and skin tone. I love gold and taupe hues, but sometimes I like to add a pop of color on my eyes or lips.

Drink water. I know it sounds generic but drinking water will help with just about anything.

Face masks!

Lip gloss!

Are there any beauty trends you’d love to try? Or ones you would never consider?

I want to try a brightly colored eyeshadow. Anything with color is exciting and new to me.

What is your beauty or skincare routine when you travel?

I always have to keep moisturiser, moisturising masks, and face products with me when I travel. I keep my beauty routine very simple because for me, heavy makeup doesn’t do well with jetlag.

During fashion month, Gigi Hadid and her legendary glow are runway fixtures, which means that taking care of her skin is a must. And though she has access to some of the most luxurious products on the planet, her favorites cost less than your morning coffee habit.

“Since high school, I’ve always used CVS skincare,” Gigi tells Teen Vogue while getting her nails painted by the Jinsoon team, backstage at the Prabal Gurung show. “… I just keep it simple. I feel like if you start using 30 products on your face, the second you don’t have those 30 products, your skin will need it. And I feel like just keeping your skin clean and being good to it is enough.”

Her go-to products from the drugstore aisle? “I love St. Ives Apricot Scrub, and the Neutrogena Grapefruit scrub — love both of those,” she says.

Considering how many shows she walks in during fashion month, Gigi often undergoes multiple makeup changes in the course of a single day, so she likes to give her skin a bit of a break ahead of the madness. “When I have time off, which is obviously before fashion week, I try not to wear makeup at all,” she says, noting that she almost always breaks out as soon as fashion week starts.

Between shows, she tries to keep things minimal, and relies on a single product to give her fresh-faced look a little extra oomph. “During fashion week, for a glow, after I wash my face and stuff, if I have nothing else on, I like to use the Maybelline Strobe stick, just on my cheek bones and on my nose,” she says. “If you have nothing else, it’s a nice way just to look a little more glow-y before you get to work.”

A Beauty Minute With Bella Hadid

“Before modeling, I had no idea about makeup, didn’t know what contouring was. I didn’t even own a concealer. When I turned 18, I started working with Dior, so I really had to restart. I was so nervous to meet Peter for the first time, because he’s very ‘Peter Philips’. Now he’s just my cute, ol’ Peter! It was on a French Vogue shoot with Mario Sorrenti, and Peter painted my face with Picasso-inspired, extreme makeup. It ended up being so amazing. From then on, we’ve just had such a great bond. I trust him with my face more than anybody in the world.

The thing I love about makeup is its ability to enhance your natural features. Makeup can make you feel so much better—it’s always a one-up for me. Obviously beauty does come from the inside out, but that confidence also starts with how you feel when you walk out the door.

Peter has taught me a lot about seriously contouring and blending. It’s important to make sure everything is blended and nothing is stuck or clumpy. I like to be as fresh as I can be, but I think good makeup really starts with a solid base. You don’t want to put too much on, just where you need it. I love skin to be glowing and blushing—healthy looking skin. If you start there, your makeup look can be pretty bomb, regardless.

One thing Peter is always saying is to apply my mascara from roots to tips. It’ll make your mascara hold. If you put a lot of mascara on, it really makes everything elongated from the inner corners to the outside. When it comes to lips, I’m very grab and go. Perfect lips with liner are really beautiful, but I love a stain because if you put one coat on it’s super light, and it doesn’t look like you have too much on your face. I love the Dior Addict Lip Glow and the Dior Lip Maximizer. And I always end up having a taupe-y, gold eye. I love a cat-eye, but my favorite makeup look I’ve ever worn was probably from the Fendi show with the blue hair. It was an elongated liner that really looked like a cat’s eye, and a little bit of highlighter in the center of the eyelid. It was so cool. It was intense, for sure, but I’d always love to go back to that look.

When I’m not working, I literally am not wearing any makeup. The most I put on is a little mascara, which can’t hurt anybody. I don’t do anything too crazy on myself, but other people have really tried looks on me. I mean, they really go in.”

Favorite spas: “I love this tiny Korean massage place near my old apartment. I’ve been going there for years, and they have no idea who I am. They’re amazing—so talented and so strong. At the other end of the spectrum, the Dior Institut spa in Paris has a beautiful vibe, like you’ve stepped into a giant perfume bottle.”

Go-to treatments: “I’m not really into facials. I usually go for a massage because my bones are always hurting. And I like getting body scrubs, just to kind of get Fashion Week scrubbed off.”

Signature scent: “Lavender. It calms me down. I’m an essential-oil girl, so I always have them with me. I mix lavender and lemongrass and keep a spray bottle in my purse. The scent is light, but I do spray it everywhere. People can smell me coming.”

Supplements: “I take fish-oil pills, multivitamins, and probiotics. Anything that’s good for my skin and organs.”

Comfort food: “Basically anything that’s not green is comforting to me. I always say I go for the pizza, but it’s more like chicken nuggets and French fries. Anything fried. When I really crave something, I’ll just have it.”

Top tipples: “I drink a lot of Diet Coke. If I’m just hanging out and don’t have to work the next day, I love a good gin and tonic.”

Workout: “When I feel like I need it, I’ll work out. Coming up on Fashion Week, I’ll try to get more fit. I’ll go hard for a few days and then take a break. I like to box, and I’ll do ab work—a lot of core training and hand weights.”

Off-duty strands: “ Jen Atkin will kill me for saying this, but I literally do nothing with my hair. Sometimes I’ll use one of my mom’s masks, but I’m really low-maintenance.”

Wash and go: “The Moroccanoil line keeps my hair supersoft and smells amazing. I love the Extra Volume shampoo and conditioner. I have really thin hair, so whatever helps.”

Morning routine: “I’m usually running late, so I just wash and moisturize. I love Mario Badescu products—the face sprays are major, and they have a really good drying lotion for when you break out.”

Complexion boost: “I’m mask obsessed. The Mario Badescu Flower & Tonic Mask is so moisturizing. My skin gets really dry, especially during Fashion Week, so it’s good for me to give it as much love as I can.”
