If you’re like me, you have about a million skincare products overflowing in your bathroom. You use them for a while, kind of forget about them, place them in the back of your cabinet, and move on to the next new thing. I get a lot (probably too much, honestly) of excitement out of browsing the beauty and skincare aisles at Target, because I just love to try out new products and switch up my routine.

Obviously, trying out a new product is always hit or miss and some people are weary of trying something different. I, like most of us in trying anything new on our faces, ask myself: Will it make me break out? Will it dry my skin out? What if I wake up with an allergic reaction? However, I can honestly say that nothing that dramatic has happened and it’s definitely worth it — you just might find your new favorite skincare product in the process.

But sometimes, things just don’t work out. Thankfully, Target has so many amazing affordable options so that you don’t have to spend a ton of money on high-end skincare lines and risk them not being for you. I’ve worked my way through many of the products in those aisles, so I’m here to share my favorites.

Here are 10 of the best skincare products that Target has to offer:

Versed

Contents

Hydration Station Booster With Hyaluronic Acid, $19.99

Versed is a relatively new brand at Target that makes products which are free of parabens, sulfates, fragrances and dyes as well as cruelty-free and vegan. And honestly, I struggled to only include two of their products in this list. Hyaluronic acid is already naturally occurring in your body, so this product just provides a little boost and is great for dry skin. Winter is coming, people!

Simple

Kind to Skin Micellar Makeup Remover Wipes, $4.69

I’ve tried SO MANY makeup wipes over the years, and these are my favorite by far. They are gentle, fragrance-free, and truly leave your skin feeling fresh and clean rather than feeling like you just added more product.

Acure

Brightening Super Greens Serum, $12.99

I really love serums and facial oils — they feel so luxurious, but can also be very expensive. This $13 option is hydrating, brightening, and really evens out my overall skin tone and gets rid of any light blemishes or redness.

No7

Early Defence Eye Cream, $19.99

Eye creams are another item that can be so pricey for so little product. At $20, this one is on the higher end of Target products, but it is a great option. It’s very hydrating and helps combat under-eye circles.

Thayer’s

Witch Hazel Toner, $10.99

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this product is AMAZING. It’s all-natural, evens out skin tone, helps get rid of blemishes, and feels so refreshing. My personal favorite is the cucumber scent, but there are lots of great options!

bliss

Mighty Marshmallow Bright & Radiant Face Mask, $12.99

This little tub of face mask goes a long way with a ton of uses. It is light and fluffy on application and makes your skin so soft when you wash it off. Pro tip: store it in the fridge and bring it out for a real cooling and self-pampering treat.

Simple

Moisturizing Facial Wash, $5.99

This is one of my all-time favorite face washes. It’s super gentle and good for sensitive or combination skin, but really gets the job done.

Vanity Planet

Glowspin Face & Body Brush System, $49.99

This is a more budget-friendly version of some of the pricey electronic face brushes out there that are great for a deeper clean. As a bonus, this one comes with face- and body-sized brushes.

More Than Magic

Cream Face Mask Variety Pack, $6.00

This pack of six cream sheet masks is the perfect way to try out a variety of options for a low price. Sheet masks are so refreshing and always leave your skin feeling amazing.

Versed

Day Dissolve Cleansing Balm, $17.99

Another Versed product with the same awesome perks! Cleansing balms just feel luxurious and are a great way to remove all your makeup. This one has a ton of 5-star reviews!

Going to Target is both amazing and amazingly dangerous. You head into the store fully expecting just to grab some toilet paper, snacks and maybe one of Chrissy Teigen’s kitchen items. Somehow you leave with bags full of blankets, and books and whatever else sucked you in. (For me, it’s the $1 seasonal section every. single. time.) Well, we’re about to make Target a whole lot harder to resist. Because the new beauty products Target has right now for May 2019 are just too good to pass up.

It used to be the products you grabbed at the chain were just everyday essentials like body wash and nail polish—things you’d grab at any drugstore. In recent years, Target has upped its beauty offerings with exclusive lines, natural products and some of the best Korean beauty brands. Even cult-favorite personal care products such as Megababe’s Thigh Rescue and Flex Menstrual Discs you can now get at Target. The real question is: what can’t you get? Below, we rounded up 12 of the newest items you might just want to add to your cart.

17 Cult-Favorite Beauty Products You Can Find at Target

3. Batiste Original Clean Dry Shampoo

Batiste Original Clean Dry Shampoo | Target

Whether you’re looking to extend the life of your blowout or add some volume to your roots, Batiste Original Clean Dry Shampoo ($5.99) has you covered. At $6 a pop, the cult-favorite dry shampoo houses an innovative starch-based formula that boosts volume and eliminates excess oil and grease for a fresher, cleaner ‘do. What’s more? Unlike most dry shampoos, this one won’t leave your roots looking dull, lifeless, and, well, caked in powder.

4. Pixi Glow Tonic

Pixi Glow Tonic | Target

If you’ve scoured the beauty aisles of Target recently, chances are you’ve come across a display of gorgeous, millennial pink and mint green beauty products by Pixi. And while the brand carries a few cult favorites, their Glow Tonic ($15) goes down as one of the internet’s most beloved skin care products. Formulated with 5% glycolic acid, aloe vera, and ginseng, the alcohol-free elixir gently gets rid of dead skin cells, softens the complexion, and promotes a radiant glow.

5. Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer

Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer | Target

Finding a good drugstore moisturizer is easier than you think. In fact, Target stocks a ton of them. That being said, there is one cult-favorite that stands out from the crowd: Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer ($12.29). Formulated to help even out the skin tone and promote a more radiant complexion, the skin-nourishing moisturizer is a must-have on your shopping list. What’s more? The daily moisturizer also fades brown spots, improves blotchiness, and helps protect the skin from the sun with SPF 15.

6. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara | Target

This wouldn’t be a cult-favorite list without the cult-favorite mascara. Maybelline mascara has been around since the early 1900s, and their Great Lash Mascara ($4.49) is a timeless 40-year-old favorite. With 7 shades to choose from, the drugstore mascara features a lash-doubling formula that glides on to give you a full-lash look.

7. Tangle Teezer Original Hair Brush

Tangle Teezer Original Hair Brush | Target

With its patented teeth technology, the innovative hair brush delivers a different kind of stroke that glides through tangles and leaves the hair smooth, shiny, and — above all — tangle-free.

8. Baby Foot Peel

Baby Foot Peel | Target

It’s no secret that the internet loves a good — i.e. gross — beauty treatment. And the Baby Foot Peel ($25) does not disappoint. Formulated with 17 types of natural extracts, the gentle yet effective foot mask gets rid of hard-to-remove dead skin cell buildup and leaves the soles feeling ultra smooth and moisturized. The only downside? It takes a few days for it to work its magic, which isn’t exactly a downside when you’re left with baby soft, callus-free feet.

9. St. Ives Apricot Scrub

St. Ives Apricot Scrub | Target

An oldie but a goodie, St. Ives Apricot Scrub ($3.64) is in a league of its own. Formulated to slough off dry, dead skin cells and provide the complexion with a deep cleanse, the cult-favorite facial exfoliator leaves the skin looking and feeling silky-soft, smooth, and radiant. But that’s not all. In addition to exfoliating the skin, the drugstore formula contains salicylic acid to prevent blemishes and blackheads.

10. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser | Target

If you’re looking for an affordable face wash that dermatologists recommend, give Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser ($8.69) a try (though chances are good that you already have). 12. Burt’s Bees Almond & Milk Hand Cream

Burt’s Bees Almond & Milk Hand Cream | Target

Did you know that your hands are one of the first areas of your body to age? And just like the skin on your complexion, the skin on your hands thrives off hydration. Target shoppers love Burt’s Bees Almond & Milk Hand Cream ($8.79) for its ability to soften and soothe the hands. What’s more? The cult-favorite hydrator also has anti-aging properties. Formulated with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, the cream protects the skin from aging aggressors and promotes younger-looking paws.

13. Eva NYC Therapy Session Hair Mask

16. Harry Josh Pro Hair Dryer 2000

A cult-favorite among hair professionals, this state-of-the-art hair dryer is lightweight, uses a dual filtration system that reduces energy consumption, and can help you achieve your sleekest, most voluminous blowout yet. What’s more? The mint green blow dryer is the most powerful dryer in its class and cuts drying time in half with a wind speed of 80+ mph.

17. Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Sea Salt Texturizing Spray

Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray | Target

Add some texture to your ‘do with Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Sea Salt Texturizing Spray ($4.79). I have been buying cruelty-free products for almost two years now. I can’t pinpoint what exactly sparked my transition, but I’ve always had a deep love for animals, and you don’t want to bring harm to something you love, right? These cruelty-free Target makeup brands have saved my life since I made the switch.

In a nutshell, cruelty-free means that the product you’re buying was never tested on a furry friend in any stage of production. Some brands even go as far as being vegan, meaning that there are straight-up no animal products in the makeup, even if the animal wouldn’t have been harmed when the company harvested the product (think harvesting beeswax from a hive).

Read on for the top cruelty-free Target makeup brands to find beauty with no ugly background.

1. E.L.F

E.L.F (which stands for eyes, lips, face) prides themselves on quality beauty products, starting at just one dollar a piece, that are 100% cruelty-free and available at your local Target. They offer everything you need from a beauty company, from brushes to lip liners to false lashes.

I have been an avid E.L.F lover for years, and my transition to cruelty-free products two years ago was easier than I’d ever imagined, thanks to them.

I wouldn’t even be able to pick my favorite E.L.F product. I have lip colors, BB cream, face masks, and everything else possible…and so should you.

2. Pixi by Petra

First off, can we talk about Pixi products just in terms of aesthetics? Mint green, rose gold, no bunnies involved…yes, please.

I don’t have too many Pixi products, but I can vouch whole-heartedly for the ones that I do have. The Moisturizing Cleansing Cloths (which come 40 in a pack instead of the standard 30!) saved my life while I was getting my certification to teach yoga, and the Glow Mud Mask is an unbeatable spot treatment.

3. NYX

May the cruelty-free makeup gods forever bless Target for expanding their NYX product line. Amen.

Target carries the most popular NYX products, such as Lip Lingerie, pictured above, and Micro-Brow pencils, which are a cheaper dupe of the Anastasia Beverly Hills pencils (although ABH is also cruelty-free!). I’ve never seen a company with a bigger selection of lip colors. Soft mattes, glosses, liquid lips…and all cruelty-free.

4. Pacifica

All of Pacifica’s products smell amazing, even the things that aren’t technically meant to be sniffed…the mascara wand was really close to my nose, okay?

5. Burt’s Bees

Burt’s Bees was the first brand of lip balm I ever fell in love with. I remember using the original Beeswax Balm as far back as 6th grade.

Now that Burt’s Bees has put feelers out into the beauty world, I couldn’t be happier. Their lipsticks pack different types of moisturizing oils into a tube that is made of 60% PCR (post-consumer recycled) plastic. 100% cruelty-free, and available at your local Target.

6. Yes To…

Yes To… features several different product lines: Yes to Carrots, Tomatoes, Cotton, Cucumbers, Coconut, Grapefruit, Blueberries, and Miracle Oil. Each line is tailored to a separate skin concern, like dryness, aging, or breakouts, so Yes To… has something for everyone!

I use the Yes to Tomatoes Charcoal Soap on my whole body during the summer to prevent breakouts from the thick sunscreen I wear when I’m working (and sweating non-stop) as a lifeguard.

The brand doesn’t technically sell makeup, but their products still go on your face. It counts. 100% cruelty-free and 100% pug-approved.

7. Alba Botanica

(Again, not makeup, but totally meant for your face, and totally cruelty-free.)

Alba Botanica has a wide product range available at Target, which I browse religiously. The Honey Mango Bath & Shower Gel (pictured above) has been my go-to shaving soap for several months, and always leaves my legs feeling silky smooth and smelling like a smoothie bowl. Win/win.

Alba also offers sheet masks and facials in the traditional jar or tube forms, and even my extra-macho boyfriend likes those.

8. Shea Moisture

Shea Moisture has been tested “on family for four generations, never on animals.” They also offer a pretty impressive range of foundation shades, meaning cruelty-free ladies (and gents) of all skin colors can find something that works. If that’s not enough to get you excited, here’s some other cool stuff.

The African Black Soap Problem Skin line saved my face last summer. I had cystic acne, and I’d tried everything. Literally, everything. I picked up a trial-sized box, contents pictured above, from Target and I haven’t looked back since.

My favorite thing about Shea Moisture is that all of their product lines expand across the entire beauty spectrum. For example, in addition to the stuff pictured above, Shea Moisture also offers a body wash, facial mask packs, and bubble bath in the same African Black Soap formula.

9. Wet ‘n’ Wild

Wet ‘n’ Wild has been around since before I can remember. This brand was always the go-to when I did makeup for theater in high school, because they have such a huge range of colors in all of their products, and they are CHEAP. I’m talkin’ just as cheap as E.L.F., and still 100% cruelty-free.

My favorite Wet ‘n’ Wild product is actually their Under the Sheets Makeup Removing Towelettes. I always have an issue with my makeup wipes not staying wet after I open the package, but these always stay just as fresh as the day I opened them, all the way down to the last wipe. And they’re damn effective, even on waterproof makeup.

So the next time you wander into Target when you don’t really need anything in particular, head on over to the beauty section and check out these gems. Your skin, conscience, and furry friends will thank you.

7. Lierac Paris Demaquillant Confort Cream Cleansing Milk

“It’s one of my favorite drugstore cleansers because it contains hyaluronic acid and it’s super hydrating. It’s best for sensitive or dry skin,” said Dr. Debra Jaliman.

8. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

“I am a fan of this classic cleanser because it’s not too harsh and will not dry out the skin. It doesn’t have reactive ingredients in it so even the most sensitive skin types can use it,” said aesthetician Melanie Simon, whose clients include Vanessa Williams. “Aggressive cleansers with acidic ingredients, like salicylic acid, strip the epidermis which makes the skin look dull. Cetaphil doesn’t strip the top layer of the skin which reflects light and makes us appear more youthful.”

Target is making it so much easier for compassionate customers to find vegan and cruelty-free makeup in stores and online. This new labeling system makes it easy to find compassionate products—just look for the letter “V” on products that are vegan (i.e., contain no animal-derived ingredients) and cross-check them with PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies list to make sure that the company is cruelty-free (i.e., doesn’t test on animals). We’re so happy that Target is making it easier to find vegan beauty products in its stores and online. To ensure that a company doesn’t test on animals, check out the free Bunny Free app. It lets you search PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies database to make it easy to see whether products are cruelty-free while you’re on the go!

Parabens are chemical preservatives that have been identified as estrogenic and disruptive of normal hormone function. Estrogenic chemicals mimic the function of the naturally occurring hormone estrogen, and exposure to external estrogens has been shown to increase the risk of breast cancer.

Want to know if your products contains parabens? Here are some steps to take:

  1. Look on the label for the following ingredients: methylparaben, propylparaben, isoparaben, or butylparaben.
  2. Find out which company makes the product you use. See if it has an ingredient list available on the product itself or on its web site. If a company is not forthcoming with the information you seek, you may want to purchase your products from another company.
  3. Try e-mailing or calling the company and asking if your product contains parabens.
  4. If you represent a cosmetics company whose products are completely paraben-free, let us know. Here are some companies that have committed to being paraben-free. These companies do not use parabens for preservation, but instead use other procedures, packaging choices, and ingredients to achieve product stability.
