These Detox Drinks Are the Secret to Fast and Easy Weight Loss

Wouldn’t it be great if there was a magic potion you could drink to lose weight? Well, actually, there is. And, guess what? There’s more than just one. Detox drinks are a great way to cleanse the body of the toxins responsible for things like digestive issues, bloating, not to mention: constipation.

The best part? Most detox drinks can be homemade and offer a variety of benefits (in addition to detoxification). See some of our favorite recipes for weight loss, ahead.

1. Morning detox tea

Looking to detox your body and promote weight loss? Give an apple cider vinegar-infused detox drink a try. We love this recipe from Tasteaholics:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of cinnamon
  • 1 dash of cayenne

Directions:

Combine all ingredients, stir, sip, and enjoy!

2. Detox ginger lemonade

Think your detox drink can’t be delicious? Think again! The Live Fit Girls created a yummy ginger lemonade mixture that not only tastes great, but promotes detoxification, too. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of filtered water
  • Juice from ½ lemon
  • 2-3 tablespoons of unfiltered apple cider vinegar
  • 2-3 tablespoons of raw honey
  • 1 inch knob of garlic, sliced

Directions:

Add the ingredients to a mason jar and shake. Sip throughout the day.

3. Detox green smoothie with chia seeds

If detox drinks aren’t your thing, try a detox smoothie. We love this one from Ally’s Cooking because it contains delicious ingredients that naturally detox. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 cup of frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add more almond milk.

4. Cleansing cucumber lemonade

Put a new spin on lemonade with the cucumber infused recipe from SkinnyMs. We love this detox drink because it tastes delicious and the cucumber adds a refreshing aftertaste.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of cucumbers, peeled if waxy, unpeeled if organic and not waxy, chopped (reserve ½ cup of sliced cucumbers for garnish)
  • 2 cups of fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • 8 cups of water, divided
  • ⅔ cup of raw honey
  • 12 ice cubes

Directions:

Add chopped cucumber to the blender with 1-2 cups of water. Once blended, strain the cucumbers through a fine mesh sieve into the pitcher. Discard the pulp and add ice. Then, heat 1 ½ cups of water on the stover over high heat until it starts to steam. Once steaming, add the honey and whisk until it’s melted. Pour the honey, lemon, and water over the ice and cucumber water. Stir and enjoy!

5. Green detox drink

Veggies are a great way to detox your body and with this green drink recipe from Gaiam, you can reap their benefits in liquid form. Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients:

  • 3 carrots
  • 3 kale leaves
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 2 beets
  • 1 turnip
  • ½ bunch of spinach
  • ½ cabbage
  • ½ bunch of parsley
  • ½ onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic

Add the ingredients to a blender, along with water, and blend.

6. Cranberry juice detox

Another excellent detox drink from Gaiam? A cranberry juice detox. High in antioxidants, vitamin C, and manganese, cranberry juice can help promote detoxification and protect your body. Here’s how to make a delicious detox drink from cranberry juice:

Ingredients:

  • Cranberry juice
  • Water
  • Apple pectin
  • Psyllium fiber

Directions:

Combine one part cranberry juice with four parts water, and 1 tablespoon each of the psyllium fiber and apple pectin. Mix and enjoy!

We have become exposed to an increasing number of chemicals in our food supply, the air we breathe, and through many common items we use daily including cosmetics and household cleaner.

Among their potentially adverse effects, these chemicals can build up in our system and stall weight loss. While many factors often contribute, researchers find that environmental toxins play a role in being overweight or obese.

Toxins can impact these organs both acutely and cumulatively. More dangerous are the persistent, low-grade toxins such as residue you consume regularly in conventionally grown fruits and vegetables. Reactions aren’t immediate, and you might not see the connection between chronic low-grade toxicity and struggling with weight loss.

How Toxic Overload Can Stall Weight Loss

Whereas a healthy body can optimally detoxify, so many things we confront daily — the food we eat, the air we breathe, and prescription drugs — can make those toxins accumulate, overwhelming your body’s defenses.

“When we are toxic… the mechanism for detoxification in the liver gets sluggish, and certain toxins can remain active longer than we want or than our systems can handle,” says Mark Hyman, MD, in The Blood Sugar Solution 10-Day Detox Diet. “This makes us sick and impedes normal metabolism. It also causes fluid retention, bloat, and puffiness.”

That’s where a detoxification plan can possibly help. Among its benefits, research shows the right one can impact weight loss directly as well as reduce factors that contribute to weight loss including chronic inflammation.

Effective detoxification to lose weight and improve overall health demands reducing or eliminating what creates a toxic load, but it also requires giving your body everything it requires to optimally detoxify. Research shows this simple sugar can become a key contributor to chronic diseases including obesity. Fructose ramps up problems including chronic inflammation and oxidative stress, which both contribute to obesity.

A natural cleanse also involves avoiding trans fats and damaged fats. These fats are in processed foods with “partially hydrogenated” in the ingredients — even if the front label says “low in fat.” Scrambled eggs on the buffet table are an example of damaged fats, where the fat has become oxidized — skip them.

Food sensitivities can also stall weight loss and exacerbate toxicity by making your gut more permeable and allowing toxins to enter the bloodstream. Gluten, dairy, soy, and corn are among the common food sensitivities. When considering detoxification, try eliminating these foods for three to four weeks.

“Using a focus on food to support the highly complex processes of detoxification and biotransformation is the wise approach,” says John Cline, MD. “If an apple contains at least 700 different phytochemicals, it is better to eat the apple as one of a variety of foods than to try to replicate its benefits with single nutritional supplements.”

The Best Foods for Natural Detoxification

Fats and Oils

Natural fats and oils like extra virgin olive oil and organic coconut oil provide energy for the detox and biotransformation processes.

Nuts and Seeds

Try almonds, sunflower seeds, walnuts, and flax seeds for a healthy snack. Nuts and seeds are excellent sources of fiber that assists in proper excretion and elimination.

Proteins

Protein is crucial for the proper function of the two major detoxification pathways inside the liver cells — called the Phase 1 and Phase 2 detoxification pathways. Opt for organic grass-fed beef and wild-caught seafood.

Legumes

Beans, lentils, and other legumes are a good source of soluble and insoluble fiber as well as a variety of amino acid precursors.

Fruits

Vegetables

1. Eat the right foods

Copious studies show whole foods including cruciferous vegetables, berries, garlic, and spices like turmeric can help your body detoxify through various pathways. Paired with protein and quality fat creates an optimal food plan to detoxify and lose weight. Go for organic plant foods and the highest-quality animal foods whenever possible.

2. Support your gut

Gastrointestinal issues will create or exacerbate a faulty detoxification system. Improving your digestive system requires removing obstacles that create dysbiosis (gut imbalances) and other problems, but also incorporating the right gut-supporting foods and nutrients. Talk to your chiropractor or other healthcare professional if you suspect intestinal permeability (leaky gut) or other digestive problems.

3. Reduce inflammation

Toxicity contributes to inflammation, which leads to a heavier toxic load, stalling fat loss in the bargain. The idea behind these salads, make them so big they are hard to finish! Often I can only eat ½ a big bowl salad, I save the other half for a “free” snack.

By using part of your lunch as a afternoon snack, or half your breakfast as a mid morning snack you eat fewer calories during this 7 day cleanse. You’re not adding calories but just spreading them out.

Crunchy Chicken with Orange Mustard Vinaigrette Dressing

  • ½ cup chopped avocado
  • 2 chopped green onions

Dressing Recipe: (blend all together)

  • 5 strawberries chopped
  • ¼ cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons white wine or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

These detox salad recipes will keep you full, they are HUGE… hence the name “big bowl Salads”.

They are made with metabolism boosting ingredients, so you lose weight while on your detox diet week.

Detox Diet Meal Recipes

These detox meals are 30% lean protein and 70% vegetables, so if you have a favorite chicken recipe, use it in lieu of one of these recipes, enjoy it with some grilled veggies or a salad.

Just do your best to skip bread, pastas and sugar this week. I’m not against carbs, but for maximum results it’s good to avoid flour or sugar based carbs on this cleanse diet week.

Chicken Fajita Lettuce Wraps

Makes 1 serving

I make 3 servings and put out tortillas for my daughter, this way I don’t have to make an extra meal for her.

You can also make a few extra servings for leftovers, they are helpful if you have a family to cook for on the smoothie diet only days… you won’t want to cook on those days and you can just serve leftover fajitas in tortillas, atop a salad or inside a quesadilla.

Leftovers are your friend, freeze them in individual servings to avoid snacking on them, and to ensure your freezer will be eventually packed with healthy homemade “TV Dinners.”

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 4 oz chicken breast cut into thin strips
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried or fresh chopped oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 bell peppers cut into thin strips
  • 1 onion cut into thin rings
  • 1 jalapeno, all seeds and ribs removed, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 4 large butter lettuce or romaine lettuce leaves

In a skillet heat the olive oil on medium heat, add in the chicken and brown on all sides for about 5 minutes. To the browned chicken add chili powder, oregano and garlic powder and toss together until the chicken strips are all coated.

Add the bell peppers, onion and jalapeno to the skillet and cook until soft, about 10-15 minutes.

Scoop into the lettuce leaves and serve hot.

Vegetarian (or turkey) Chili

Makes 6 servings

This chili can be made vegetarian, or with ground turkey or leftover shredded chicken. It works in perfectly in this cleanse diet program.

To add ground turkey, brown it with the onions, to use leftover chicken, add it in with the tomatoes.

You can also make this in a crock pot, once the onions and bell peppers are soft, move to the crock pot and continue the rest of the recipe in the crock pot. Cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 7. Freeze the leftovers in individual containers, this chili is great over an omelet or atop a baked potato.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped fine
  • 2 red bell peppers, chopped fine
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped fine
  • 1 jalapeno seeds and ribs removed, chopped fine
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 2 bay leafs
  • 28 oz can of chopped or crushed tomatoes
  • 15 oz can of black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 15 oz can of kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup frozen corn kernels
  • Greek yogurt (optional topping)
  • Chopped red onion (optional topping)
  • Hot sauce (optional topping)

In a large sauce pot heat the oil on medium. Add in the onion, bell peppers, garlic and jalapeno, cook for 10-15 minutes until the veggies are soft and most of the onions transparent.

Add in the chili, cumin and bay leafs, toss with veggies and cook about a minute until you can smell the spices, top with the crushed tomatoes and stir. Cook for 1-3 hours on low, the longer you cook it the better the flavors will be. (see recipe description for crock pot directions)

10 minutes before you serve the chili add in the beans and the corn and stir together.

Veggie Omelet

Makes 1 serving

Some of you may want to use your “Detox Meal” in the morning, or for a Sunday brunch. So I wanted to include an all day breakfast option. Omelets are great any time of the day, I added cheese here in place of meat, so if you want to add meat you need to take out the cheese, leftover chicken or chopped turkey bacon work great here.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • ¼ cup sliced mushrooms
  • 5 cherry tomatoes sliced in half
  • 1 green onion, chopped
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ avocado sliced
  • ¼ cup fresh salsa (optional)

In a large skillet heat ½ teaspoon of olive oil on medium, add in the bell pepper, mushrooms and tomatoes. Cook for 10 minutes until the bell peppers are soft, while they cook prep the eggs and shred the cheese. Once the veggies are done cooking add in the green onion, turn off the heat and cover.

In a small skillet heat the remaining ½ teaspoon olive oil on medium low. Whisk the egg whites and eggs together with a tablespoon of water until light and airy and add to the small skillet. Let cook slowly undisturbed until ½ of the eggs have set. Use a spatula to gently lift one side of the omelet so that the runny eggs can pool below, then lay back down the cooked eggs and top the entire top of the omelet with cheese.

Once the eggs are fully cooked, add the cooked veggies to the center and gently fold the eggs over as you would fold a letter, cook for another minute to ensure the cheese is melted and oozing all over the veggies then gently move to a plate. Top with avocado and salsa and serve hot.

You’re trying to rid your body of toxins this week, whether it’s to lose weight, to clear up your skin or just to feel healthier you’ll need to flush your system with lots and lots of detox drinks like fruit infused water, a gallon of water a day to be exact.

Detox Diet Week…What to drink and what not to drink:

I’ve included some fruit infused detox waters below for those of you who don’t like the taste of water, or need a push to help you drink more, just be sure not to use any artificial sweeteners in your water.

Those little packets of flavoring that people add to their water actually are packed full of toxins that cause fat storage, weight gain, migraines, breakouts… the list goes on and on, so skip the flavor packets and go all natural.

What about coffee? I’ve got you covered, ideally it’s good to skip coffee during this Detox Diet Week, but that’s not always so easy to do. So limit yourself to one cup per day, you can have 1-2 cups of organic herbal tea, so if you drink coffee in the morning, choose herbal tea for your second cup in the afternoon.

Now that you know coffee in moderation is ok, lets talk about what to put in it. We are trying to skip processed sugars this week, so in lieu of sugar or flavored creamers (many with the same issues as the little flavor packets in the water paragraph above) choose an all natural creamer and an all natural sweetener.

I like coconut creamer and honey, but you can also try organic half and half, and coconut sugar or maple syrup (don’t knock it till you try it, it’s good!) I’ve included an all natural under 50 calorie latte recipe below for those of you with coffee house tendencies.

Detoxing is a popular trend followed by people to lose pounds quickly. It is nothing but complete rejuvenation or cleansing of your body through the consumption of fruit and vegetable concoctions and herbal teas, followed by short-term fasting. It claims to remove toxins from your body to aid weight loss, but its long-term effects are not scientifically proven (1), (2).

You can try out these easy home-made detox drinks to boost metabolism and kick start your weight loss journey.

DIY Detox Drinks for Weight Loss

1. Green Tea And Lemon

What You Need
  • Water
  • 1 green tea bag
  • 1/4 lemon
How To Prepare
  1. Boil a cup of water and place a green tea bag in it.
  2. Add the juice of the lemon.
  3. Drink it while it is still hot.
Benefits
  • Green tea is a good source of catechins, i.e., dietary polyphenols that exhibit anti-adiposity effects (3).
  • A study was done on mice (on a high-fat diet) demonstrated that the lemon polyphenols from a lemon peel extract significantly reduced weight gain (4).

2. Honey, Lemon, And Ginger

  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 inch ginger root
  • 1 glass warm water
  1. Heat a glass of water. Do not boil it.
  2. Use a mortar and pestle to crush the ginger root.
  3. Add the lemon juice, crushed ginger, and honey to a glass of warm water.
  4. Drink it while it is still warm.

A study conducted by the San Diego State University on rats has suggested that honey may reduce weight gain and obesity (5).

3. Lemon And Cucumber Detox Water

  • 1 lemon
  • 1 cucumber
  • Mint leaves
  • A pinch of salt
  • Water
  1. Cut the lemon into wedges and slice the cucumber. Toss the pieces into the jar.
  2. Add a few mint leaves and a pinch of salt.
  3. Pour water into the jar.
  4. Drink this water throughout the day.

Cucumber is a low-calorie food with high water content (95.2% water) (6). Studies have found that a diet low in energy density (low in calories) is an effective measure to improve weight loss and managing body weight (7). It is one of the most common DIY cleansing drinks to boost energy and metabolism.

4. Pineapple Lemonade

  • 1 cup chopped pineapple
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • A pinch of salt
  1. Toss the chopped pineapple in a blender and give it a spin.
  2. Pour the juice into a glass.
  3. Add the lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and salt. Stir well.

A study done on rats on a high-fat diet revealed that pineapple juice induces the upregulation of fatty acid oxidation by molecular gene regulation. Thus, it has the potential to reduce weight gain and obesity (8).

5. Orange And Carrot Juice

  • 1 orange
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Coriander leaves
  • Water
  • Ice
  1. Slice the carrot and peel the orange. Chop and toss them into the food processor.
  2. Add a tablespoon of honey and throw in some coriander leaves.
  3. Add a little water. Give it a spin.
  4. Add ice before drinking.
  • Carrots are rich in beta-carotene and loaded with fiber. Foods high in fiber increase satiety (feeling of fullness) and decrease subsequent hunger (9). This help can help reduce food intake, thereby leading to weight loss.
  • Oranges are replete with vitamin C (10). Vitamin C is inversely associated with body mass. Adequate intake of this vitamin can help oxidize as much as 30% more fat when combined with moderate exercise (11). Thus, it may help you lose weight.

6. Beetroot And Mint Juice

  • Beetroot
  • A handful of mint leaves
  • A pinch of salt
  1. Chop the beetroot into cubes and toss them in the blender.
  2. Add a few mint leaves and a pinch of salt. Give it a spin.
  3. Drink while still fresh.

Beets are low in calories and high in fiber (12). Adding fiber to your diet helps control appetite and reduce weight (13). It is a great cleanser for your liver. Make sure to drink the unstrained juice if you intend to lose weight.

7. Strawberry And Cinnamon Detox Water

  • 7-8 strawberries
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • Mint leaves
  • 1-liter water
  1. Cut the strawberries in half and toss them into a jar.
  2. Throw in some mint leaves and a cinnamon stick.
  3. Pour a liter of water into the jar.
  4. Keep it in the fridge overnight. Drink it cold to rejuvenate your body.

Strawberries contain ellagic acid, a bioactive polyphenol (14). Research suggests that ellagic acid may help manage obesity and related complications. However, more human clinical studies need to be conducted to prove this effect (15).

8. Fruits And Carrot Juice

  • 1 carrot
  • Choice of fruits (blueberries, prunes, apples/pears, strawberries, grapes, and/or grapefruit)
  • Black pepper
  • A pinch of salt
  1. Toss the chopped carrots and fruits in the food processor.
  2. Add a little salt and black pepper.
  3. Spin it.

Fruits and vegetables like carrots, blueberries, prunes, apples/pears, strawberries, raisins/grapes, and grapefruit are good sources of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. These fruits and vegetables aid weight management and prevent weight gain with their high fiber content (both soluble and insoluble), low glycemic load, biologically active polyphenols, and natural sugar (16).

Note: Do not strain the juice as it loses its fiber content. If you are uncomfortable drinking unstrained juice, you may mix strained and unstrained juice initially. Moreover, it is always better to eat fruits and vegetables whole to better utilize all their nutrients.

9. Buttermilk Detox Drink

  • Buttermilk/plain curd
  • Mint leaves
  • Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 carrot
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seed powder (roasted)
  • A pinch of salt
  1. Pour the buttermilk into a jar. You may also mix two tablespoons of plain curd, a pinch of salt, and water to make your own homemade buttermilk.
  2. Roughly chop a few mint leaves and coriander leaves.
  3. Thinly slice half a carrot.
  4. Blend the carrots and herbs into the buttermilk.
  5. Add a pinch of salt and a bit of roasted cumin seed powder and stir well.

Curd (or yogurt) is a natural source of probiotics that strengthen the digestive system. Its nutritional composition and lactic acid bacteria may improve gut health, help manage appetite, and aid weight loss. However, the role of yogurt in weight loss remains controversial (17).

10. Tomato, Leek, and Cucumber Juice

Detoxing will definitely assist you in losing weight – but more importantly, ongoing regular DETOXING will allow you to KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF!

So every day new dieting fads and trends assault our senses and have done for as long as the media has had access to our lives.

We are inundated with weight loss protocols from our women’s and men’s fashion magazines to sports and lifestyle magazines to TV and social media even the packaging containing our foods can include a diet. Much craft has gone into attempting us to try the latest ‘Hollywood’ inspired programme.

A large percentage of these weight loss programmes are well researched and very effective. Obviously, there is no ‘one size fits all’ and some experimentation would be needed in order to find the right fit for your body type and particular metabolism and hormonal makeup.

Don’t be afraid to keep trying and most importantly don’t give up. If the first or second or even third fails, there is a protocol out there that will suit you better than others. As said earlier all of us are made up of different metabolisms and different hormonal responses to all the varieties of nutrition that we consume.

It has been well researched and proven that two people can eat the exact same carbohydrate and yet both have a completely different ‘insulin’ response and then have two different carbon partitioning responses – that is one person will burn the carb and the other will store it.

There is nothing that you have done wrong or right, this is purely a genetic characteristic built into your DNA. This is why experimenting with different weight loss programmes is essential to find the right system for your hormonal makeup.

So, the real problem doesn’t appear to be the ability to lose weight, that can be achieved with some persistence, tenacity, willpower and maybe a little sweat.

The real issue that seems to plague us in our quest for a slimmer figure and optimized health is the ability to ‘KEEP IT OFF’. It seems that as soon as we get our weight down to an acceptable level and we back off from the programme for a moment – BOOM – back it comes again.

The more we experience this rebounding (yo-yo effect) of our fat accumulation, the more desperation and frustration sets in and we begin to despair. We feel that it’s a hopeless cause and we are just destined to carry this weight around with us forever. This can lead to an effect in other areas of our life – depression, lethargy, lack of interest, etc.

We couldn’t begin to count the number of times that we have had success stories paraded before us, the endless and most amazing before and after shots of incredible transformations.

I was personally involved in a weight loss programme that advertised amazing results by sticking to the companies products and programme. Heres the problem, the programme for most people was unsustainable and upon ceasing the weight came right back again.

An important point to be made at this time is that any programme you choose to embark on must be sustainable and would be more appropriate if it was a ‘lifestyle’ eating plan.

What that means is, do not choose (at least for the long term) a crash diet, that is one that promises an extraordinary amount of weight reduction in a short period of time. These diets are unsustainable and will definitely lead to the famous ‘yo-yo’ effect.

A classic public exhibition of this would be the passing parade of TV celebrities who are carrying excess weight. These celebrities are preyed upon by weightloss companies as the perfect public exhibition of the effectiveness of their programmes.

Because the celebrities are in the public view, they are the obvious choice to show off the merits of the companies amazing product. We see them incessantly paraded before our eyes, especially at dinner, time singing the praises of the company who is ‘sponsoring’ them.

Sure enough, as is to be expected, we get the opportunity to shout “hip hip hooray’ and “you beauty mate” (if you are in Australia). We are gobsmacked at the effectiveness of the protocol and we pull out our credit cards and say, sign me up.

Then, after the fuss and constant exposure and backslapping and celebration of their amazing achievement – BOOM – they seem to always slip away from our sight.

Then, as quick as they came, our old dinner time, loungeroom buddies have disappeared!

Like regular clockwork, our ex slim celebrity friends turn up again in another show and shock horror all their (and sometimes more), weight is back in its old familiar place.

It’s the same old familiar problem that besets not only celebrities but a large portion of the dieting public. The problem is that fat loss is not, for some reason sustainable. but we inevitably find ourselves back to square one.

Why? What happened?

The answer is quite complex. As noted earlier that all of our constitutions and hormonal activities are completely different and our responses to food restrictions and food types vary from person to person.

There is one underlying common cause that will in varying degrees effect all of our abilities to maintain weight reduction. That one foundational cause is ‘toxicity’.

In many cases, we have embarked on a journey of say, calorie or carb restrictions but this has not dealt with the lifetime of the toxic cell poisoning of our cells from a plethora of sources.

In many ways, the ‘diet’ we have embarked upon, which has managed to reduce our fat cell has not sufficiently cleaned out our old and underperforming, sluggish system.

So as soon as we stop our programme we fall back to the mercy of our struggling metabolism. Even our immune system is restricted in its ability to perform at the level required to keep us in peak condition by the levels of poisons we have accumulated

IT’S IMPORTANT TO TAKE CAREFUL NOTE – “it’s not your fault” for where you have arrived but it is our responsibility about where we go from here !

At this point, I would like to reframe the question to –

Does Detoxing ‘help’ you lose weight?

The answer now to the now reframed question is an emphatic – YES!

There are two ways in which we are at the mercy of toxic accumulation –

  1. Controllable sources
  2. Uncontrollable sources

The obvious one that we are interested in is No. 1

In the day and age that we live in if we are not alert and watchful, we will consume copious amounts of poisons just via our food, water, and from our environment. It’s almost impossible to control every toxin and poison and prevent it from entering our system.

The best way to eliminate the poisons that we have consumed is to put ourselves on a ‘permanent’ detoxifying protocol. By embarking on such a journey we will enhance the long term results of the ‘lifestyle’ eating programme that we have embarked upon.

Detoxification is a process that the body performs around the clock utilizing important nutrients from the diet. It’s the process that transforms toxins so they can be removed from the body. Other programs recommend fasting, a potentially risky practice for some people, which may actually suppress detoxification pathways in the body. This is why many health practitioners advise against this practice.
Many noncredentialed people claim to be experts in detoxification; however, there is a lack of research at this time to support its use. Plus, detoxification programs can vary widely and may pose a risk for some people (such as people with health problems, those with eating disorders, those who take multiple medications, and pregnant or breast-feeding women).

Detoxification support doesn’t need to consist of a rigorous plan; doing some or all of the following can support your body’s natural detoxification:

  • Stay hydrated with clean water.
  • Eat five to nine servings of fruit and vegetables per day.
