Emma Roberts and her famous aunt, Julia Roberts, have a lot in common: Not only are they both major film stars in their own rights, they also share a singularly defining physical characteristic.

“We have a lot of teeth,” Emma, 28, joked to Entertainment Tonight of her resemblance to the Pretty Woman star, 51.

The American Horror Story alum, whose father, Eric Roberts, is Julia’s brother, shared a photo that showed off her pearly whites on Instagram on Thursday, April 25, after a blonde refresh from Nine Zero One salon.

Julia posted a similar smiling snap on Instagram earlier this month.

The two women regularly spend time together, as seen on Emma’s Instagram: In July, the Scream Queens vet posted a picture of herself playing cards with her relative. One month later, they were snapped playing Mahjong.

Emma cited spending time with her loved ones as her remedy for feeling low. “I think, for me, it’s surrounding myself with good friends and my family,” she told ET. “Whenever I’m feeling not grounded or insecure or whatever, I think staying away from the mirror is always a good idea. And just, like, spending good times with friends.”

The actresses have also starred in films together, including 2001’s America’s Sweethearts (Emma had a small, uncredited role) 2002’s Grand Champion and 2010’s Valentine’s Day.

There’s one role Julia refuses to take part in, however: Emma’s AHS FX series. “I can’t even get though the commercials,” she told E! News in 2015. “I am the most fitful scaredy cat.”

Emma, who walked the red carpet with the Oscar winner for the premiere of Jesus Henry Christ in 2012, doesn’t feel the pressure to follow in Julia’s footsteps. “I’m just doing my own thing,” the Scream 4 actress told Us Weekly in 2011. “I don’t really compare it to what my aunt does, but I do admire her and love all her movies.”

Emma Roberts’ View On Confidence Will Change the Way You See Yourself

One perfect cupcake. That was the reward Emma Roberts gave herself before her Shape cover shoot. “I was working out every day and eating really clean to get ready,” the 26-year-old actress says. “Then, a couple of days before the shoot, I started craving a cupcake from Sprinkles. So I went there by myself and sat down and read my book and ate my cupcake. It was great. Later, everyone asked me, ‘Why didn’t you wait until after the shoot to eat it? ‘Well, because I wanted a cupcake that day.”

Going for what she wants is classic Emma. “With my diet, I do what feels good for me at the time,” she says. “I try not to say that I won’t eat something. Instead, I stay in tune with my body and my mind, and I think, What do I feel like eating?” The same philosophy guides her workouts. “I love Pilates. I feel very energized and centered when I walk out the door afterward,” Emma says. “I tried to get into running, but it didn’t work for me. Pilates is something you take your time at, and it makes me feel very clear.” (Emma’s on our list of celebrities who aren’t afraid to break a sweat.)

The mental and physical energy she gets from this routine has helped Emma find clarity in the rest of her life. The former star of Scream Queens and American Horror Story has spent this year filming several movies, including Who We Are Now, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this fall. She also launched a digital book club called Belletrist with her good friend and fellow bookworm Karah Preiss. The two pick a new book to read each month, announce it to their hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers, and then celebrate it by interviewing the author. “The reaction has been amazing,” Emma says. “I think it’s because you become immersed in a book, and that’s something people are craving these days. When you’re on your phone and all the notifications are coming in, it starts to scatter your brain. With a book, you can really step away and take time for yourself.”

Here’s how Emma came up with a personal confidence-and happiness-plan that really works for her.

Focus on the 3 A’s.

“I work with a trainer, Andrea Orbeck, because I need to get my cardio. Our sessions are an hour, focusing mostly on arms, abs, and ass-the all-important three A’s. (This 30-minute workout sculpts all three.) I also do yoga. I usually take classes with a friend. For Pilates, my favorite workout, I go to Body by Nonna, and I can see my shape transform within a couple of sessions. That’s good because I’m that person who, after one class, lifts up her shirt and says, ‘Where are my abs?’ I want results!’

I started working out regularly when I was living in New Orleans shooting American Horror Story: Coven several years ago. I really fell in love with the food there. To counter all I was eating, I worked out more. It was a great balance: I’d have fried-chicken sliders at night and then go to my yoga class the next morning.”

Bacon and doughnuts are never off-limits.

“I start my day with a juice when I’m filming. I like Moon Juice; my favorite is their Spirit Dust ($38;moonjuice.com)-that’s a fun way to begin the morning. I also drink iced coffee even when it’s freezing outside because hot coffee doesn’t wake me up. If I have a day off, I’ll have eggs and bacon and toast. I adore classic breakfast foods. For lunch, I’ll do a chopped salad with avocado, chicken, and tomatoes. Dinner is a turkey burger, or salmon with teriyaki or ponzu sauce, and brown rice with broccoli. I need snacks, particularly when I’m working. Lately I’ve become obsessed with seaweed. (Try these smart ways to cook with seaweed.) And chips and guacamole make me so happy! I also love cupcakes, ice cream, and Sidecar Doughnuts. Sometimes I bring sweets for everyone at work as an excuse to eat them.”

Put your phone down already.

“I’ve learned to step away from electronics and be fully present. If I’m going out to eat with friends or my boyfriend, I leave my phone at home so that I’m not reaching for it. It gives my brain room to breathe, and it feels really good. On Sundays, I have breakfast with girlfriends and then we go to the flea market and walk around and talk and really spend time together. You can’t have too many beauty products.

“Because I wear so much makeup when I’m working, taking care of my skin is really important to me. I love the brand Osea-especially their Atmosphere Protection Cream ($48; oseamalibu.com) and their eye and lip balms ($60; oseamalibu.com). And I use the Joanna Vargas Vitamin C Face Wash ($40; joannavargas.com). I’m obsessed with vitamin C face products. I’m also really into essential oils right now-Lea Michele got me hooked on them. (The former Shape cover girl talks essential oils in her interview here.) If someone recommends something, I’ll buy it no questions asked because I love beauty products.”

Schedule some Zen.

“Reading is my form of self-care and meditation. I set aside at least 20 minutes a day for it. Sometimes that turns into 30 minutes, an hour, two hours. There are so many books on my dining room table right now that I can’t use it for eating. I go to the store and buy every book I want to read for the next few months and put them on the table. One of my all-time favorite books is Slouching Towards Bethlehem, by Joan Didion. It’s a really beautiful collection of short stories. Another favorite is Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. It has a gothic romance vibe, yet it could be a story today.”

Drown out all the noise.

“I believe we are all innately confident. But we lose touch with ourselves and let other people’s opinions and thoughts get louder than our own. It’s so important to stay true to ourselves and find that confidence we had as kids. Know that your opinion about yourself matters more than anybody else’s. Keep turning up the volume on your own voice, and don’t let other people’s voices get louder.”

Remember how earlier this year we told you all that we just noticed that Emma Roberts is low-ket hot? Well ever since then we’ve been checking in on her more often and it’s a good thing we have — the woman continues to remind us how attractive she is. And she got with Shape magazine to show us all over again.

The 26-year-old got with the magazine in order to take some photos for a shoot, a shoot that of course came out great. The actress also sat down for an interview with the magazine where she talks about how she used to be self-conscious about her height, but now she embraces it. Just like we embrace all of these hot photos.

11 Celebrities Who Took Dieting Too Far

Celebrities have so much pressure on them to maintain that perfect image. They’re constantly criticised by the media for showing an ounce of construable fat, so it’s no wonder that sometimes the dieting goes too far and celebs develop unhealthy bodies. This list takes a look at some of Hollywood’s favorites that may have pushed their diets to the extreme.

11. LeAnn Rimes

LeAnne Rimes’ weight has fluctuated over the years and has been a hot topic for fans. People close to the country songstress have reported that she takes too many supplements and Rimes’ had no problem telling US Weekly that she takes 40 pills a day as part of her beauty regimen. Back in 2011 while on her Mexican honeymoon with hubby Eddie Cibrian, Rimes sported an almost emaciated body on the beach. The startling pictures were published by various media sources and Rimes took to Twitter to respond. She tweeted a pic of herself and the statement, “this is my body and I can promise you I’m a healthy girl. I’m just lean. Thx for your concern but no need to be.”

10. Julie Bowen

Julie Bowen is the Modern Family star who adheres to a strict workout schedule. She gets up and runs every morning at 5 AM. Alicia Hunter, a wellness expert, commented that Bowen’s weight is approximately 108 lbs. “Her chest looks very bony and her arms too sinewy. There is such a thing as running yourself into the ground.” It’s no wonder that Bowen struggles with issues of weight and fitness though. On her first acting gig on ABC’s daytime series Loving, Bowen recalled to More that a co-star would comment between scenes, ‘Can you believe how fat you are?’ Yikes!

9. Megan Fox

Megan Fox has taken a lot of heat of losing too much weight and the starlet blamed her drastic weight loss on her adoption of a strict vegan diet. “For a year and a half, until about four months ago, I followed a strict vegan diet based on raw fruits and vegetables, no bread, sugar and coffee,” Megan told Amica magazine. “But I had lost too much weight.” The brunette bombshell threw out the diet back in 2011 and started training with Harley Pasternak. But the vegan diet isn’t the only diet Fox has been associated with. She’s also been criticised for promoting an unhealthy vinegar detox diet, and most recently, for attributing her baby-weight loss to a paleo diet. Her trainer has stated that he fears Fox will become too thin because she has a fast metabolism, “so her training is all about body toning and sculpting… People thought ‘Oh she must be anorexic’ but she’s far from that!”

8. Lea Michele

After the tragic death of her boyfriend and co-star, Corey Monteith, Lea Michele appeared at several red carpet events sporting a new, extremely thin physique that many fans felt reflected her grief. The strong singer and leading lady, responded however, by stating to OK! magazine that she’s a vegan. “It makes me feel really good and bright.”

7. Tori Spelling

Over the years, the 90210 star has taken many allegations of anorexia, and she herself has admitted to following a “keep your f***ing mouth shut and eat air diet.” In 2013, Tori’s mom released a tell-all book titled Candy at Last, in which she confesses to having body dysmorphic disorder herself. Tori’s denials have persisted but, as her marital problems with Dean McDermott came to light, Tori’s weight plummeted to a speculated 92 lbs. She was hospitalized for a “migraine” but some fans believe that it was more than that. Hopefully with her resolve to stay with Dean in spite of his infidelities, and the couple’s lifestyle changes due to their money troubles, Tori will be able to regain control over her life and live healthily.

6. Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie is a Hollywood A-lister who is married to one of the most handsome men on the planet, but life still takes its toll on the seemingly perfect lives of the beautiful. Jolie was scrutinized by the media and fans for her emaciated appearance and weight-loss speculation flew. Jolie told Grazia magazine that the change in her appearance wasn’t due to anorexia, but was because of the passing of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand. “I have always been lean and this year I lost my mother and I’ve gone through a lot,” Jolie confided. “I want people to understand who I am as a person is not somebody that’s trying to look thin, but just trying to work through a very difficult year.”

5. Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah Jessica Parker has received some looks in recent years for her extremely sinewy and emaciated arms which have generated much concern over the actress’s extreme dieting and eating habits. Back in 2008 Parker told People magazine, “I eat everything. I’m just an eater. If it’s free, I honestly eat everything.” But we’re not so sure this remained the case for the mother of three. In 2010 friends of the star claimed that Sarah Jessica had become ‘obsessed’ with dieting and going to the gym. In an issue of Closer magazine, a friend of the celeb stated: ‘She’s always been health conscious, but this is a whole new level. She’s worried she’s looking old and feels she needs to up her workout regime to stay healthy, but it’s as though she’s become obsessed.’ In 2016 we can catch Parker in the new comedy television series Divorce. She is looking much healthier, but only time will tell if the pressures of ageing in Hollywood will remain at bay.

4. Kate Bosworth

Kate Bosworth has been plagued by anorexia rumors for years, especially back when she split from her boyfriend Orlando Bloom. The starlet has even confessed she’d been “concerned for her health” and stated that she sought out the help of a nutritionist. But in spite of her attempts to develop a healthy body back in 2006, the anorexia rumors have persisted. Kate insists that she eats healthy portion sizes that she sticks to a regular workout routine a minimum of 4 times a week. This year we can catch her in Before I Wake and the mini-series SS-GB.

3. Emma Roberts

As the niece of Julia Roberts, Emma Roberts sure has a lot to live up to, and the pressures of Hollywood seemed to have taken their toll on this American Horror Story actress. A wellness expert for OK! magazine stated, “She looks to be edging into a ‘too thin to win’ category and barely tips the scales at a scary 86 pounds.” It’s said that the actress is addicted to juicing. Star magazine reported an eye witness account: “Emma had at least 50 bottles of a popular cleanse in her cart. She cleared out the entire section…and she looked insanely skinny.” While juicing can be healthy, Emma seems to be taking it to the extreme and may be losing the nutritional benefits of the diet by buying so many bottles in advance.

Nicole Richie has taken a lot of mean-media over her struggles with her weight. She has openly stated, “I know I’m too thin right now. I wouldn’t want any young girl looking at me and saying, ‘That’s what I want to look like.’” Richie has sought medical treatment for her inability to gain weight and refuted the media’s accusation that she is anorexic. “I felt it was a little unfair to say someone has an eating disorder when they don’t. It’s extremely insulting and irresponsible,” she said. Adding, “An eating disorder is serious and it’s a disease. I don’t think you can lightly say someone has a disease unless they are openly telling you that they do.”

1. Bethenny Frankel

Bethenny Frankel is the new housewife behind the SkinnyGirl brand of alcoholic beverages. After posing in a bikini for a 2010 issue of Life & Style, Frankel shared her recipe for dropping those extra pounds, “Taste everything, eat nothing.” But this method resulted in much criticism of Frankel’s sinewy arms and emaciated appearance months later. By December that year, Frankel tweeted, “Eating enchiladas at ‘on the border’ mex grill at 10am.need to gain weight. I look like magda from ‘something about mary.’” At least the star was able to recognize she was going down the wrong path. Bethenny has released a line of workout videos that have earned her a hefty sum and made her one of the richest reality celebrities out there.

She has some cravings as well, such as pizza and sweets, but she indulges in her favorites only on the weekend.

The actress does a lot of workouts that suits her lifestyle and Pilates happens to be her favorite.

According to her, she’s tried many other routines, but Pilates is one of the few that she’s grown to love, making it part of her regular routine in the process. She also likes moving around, so for her the basics are good enough, which is why she makes sure she does cardio whenever she can. And because she likes being physically active, even walking is good for her. She hits the gym whenever she can to do some easy weightlifting to tone her arms and her entire body, but she takes is real slow. She doesn’t want to hurt herself in the process.

Emma Roberts Reveals Her Diet and Fitness Regime, and It’s All About Balance

Emma Roberts has been acting—and subject to public scrutiny—for more than half of her life. Seriously. Despite the pressure sure to arise from such concentrated limelight, the 26-year-old is not about to build her life (and diet) around the words of naysayers.

“I do what feels good for me at the time,” Roberts told Shape magazine about her diet. “I try not to say that I won’t eat something. Instead, I stay in tune with my body and my mind, and I think, What do I feel like eating?” And you know what? Sometimes all she wants is a cupcake.

“I love cupcakes, ice cream, and Sidecar Doughnuts,” the American Horror Story star told the publication. “Sometimes I bring sweets for everyone at work as an excuse to eat them.” Same girl, same.

For meals, however, Roberts keeps things fairly healthy, opting for “a chopped salad with avocado, chicken, and tomatoes” for lunch, and a “turkey burger, or salmon with teriyaki or ponzu sauce, and brown rice with broccoli” for dinner.

When it comes to her workout routine, Roberts has a similar sense of balance.

She does yoga and pilates, as well as cardio with her trainer—specifically focusing her efforts on the “all-important three A’s”: arms, abs, and ass.
