Erin Andrews recalls the moment she thought her career was over
Erin Andrews is well aware of the “page views” nickname, and for too long, she let it dominate her existence.
“It blew up quicker than I anticipated with the internet just going and the blogs going,” Andrews told Soledad O’Brien during an interview for HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel,” airing Tuesday.
“At the time I was just so sensitive anytime anyone ever wrote or put a photograph of me up, and that really kind of controlled my life.”
Andrews, 41, rose to fame as a sports reporter at ESPN beginning in 2004. She has since moved beyond that mentality, overcoming a bevy of personal obstacles, including a 2009 stalking incident she once believed would derail her career.
“The first thing I said was, ‘I’m finished. My career is over,’” said Andrews, who will be on the sidelines for Fox for Sunday’s Super Bowl 2020. “I worked so hard and I knew how everybody was so obsessed with this page views, sideline princess and all that, it was like, ‘Well, this is the scandal. This is what everybody had been waiting for.’”

Andrews filed a $75 million lawsuit against Michael David Barrett, accused of filming her through the peephole of her Nashville Marriott hotel room in 2015. She was awarded $55 million as a result of the trial in 2016.
Reflecting on the incident, Andrews spoke about how the trauma had affected her private life in the aftermath.
“First date I ever went on with my husband , he took me to a bar and somebody took a photo and I ripped the phone out of their hand. I said, ‘Delete this photo right now,’” Andrews recalled.
Stoll and Andrews tied the knot in 2017, the same year she opened up about her cervical cancer diagnosis, which she kept secret from co-workers.
“I don’t want to go around talking about my vagina. I want to talk about how Dallas’ defense is going to come back, or what’s the scenario with this Giants-Eagles game this weekend. My safe place is the football field, I want to be with the guys, I also had just come off a very public trial and I just wanted to have a normal life,” she said.
As for the future, which also consists of a “Dancing with the Stars” gig and her WEAR by Erin Andrews clothing line, Andrews is hoping to stay on the field for as long as she can.
“I mean, I know where I’ll always wanna be. I’ll wanna be there on that field. But I get it. It’s an industry where that may not be the case. And I know I’m not gonna have this opportunity forever. But it’s where I feel the best,” she said.
“Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” airs Tuesday at 10 p.m.
— Erin Andrews is on cloud 9.
Earlier this week, news broke that she would be taking over the top spot on the sidelines for Fox Sports, replacing Pam Oliver who is entering her 20th and final season with the network.
Andrews, 36, spoke to ABC News on behalf of the Yoplait Greek Taste-Off and said that the amazing opportunity is definitely “a dream come true” for the veteran sports reporter. Not to mention Andrews confirmed that she’ll be back for “Dancing with the Stars” as co-host.

“I am going to have time for ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ That was all part of our negotiations,” she told ABC.
But all this comes along with an amazing relationship Andrews has with her boyfriend Jarret Stoll. She moved in with him just a year ago. Andrews had the privilege of watching Stoll, 32, win the Stanley Cup with the L.A. Kings in June.
“It’s been fabulous,” she said of her relationship of two years. “It was a stressful couple of months with the playoffs. The Kings didn’t make it easy on their loved ones. We’ve taken the past couple of weeks to enjoy what the team was able to accomplish and what he was able to accomplish. They start back in a month and are already taking trying to win a third cup!”
As for what her boyfriend does that annoys her a little, she joked he likes their place clean and tidy.
Everything is coming together for Andrews, but is an engagement in her future?
Erin Andrews, Ex-NHL Player Jarret Stoll Marry in Montana
The ‘Dancing With the Stars’ host and Fox Sports sideline reporter wed the athlete on Saturday, his 35th birthday.
Sportscaster Erin Andrews and former NHL player Jarret Stoll have tied the knot.
Publicists for Andrews confirm that the 39-year-old Fox Sports sideline reporter and Dancing With the Stars co-host married Stoll on Saturday, his 35th birthday.
People magazine first reported the nuptials. According to the magazine, the wedding was held at sunset in Montana in front of a small group of family and friends. Andrews wore a gown designed by Carolina Herrera.
The couple, who started dating in 2012, got engaged in December at Disneyland.
The wedding follows a rocky year for Andrews.
In September 2016, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer, months after winning a stalking lawsuit. She settled with two hotel companies that were found partially to blame for the stalker, who got a hotel room next to hers and posted nude videos of her on the internet.
Stoll played in the NHL for 13 years, for Edmonton, Los Angeles, Minnesota and the New York Rangers.
Erin Andrews is geared up to co-host a new season of Dancing With the Stars. While all eyes will be on the dancers in the coming weeks, the sports broadcaster will also undoubtedly draw some attention.
Many DWTS fans find themselves curious about the sports broadcaster’s private life. Andrews married former NHLer Jarret Stoll in a sunset ceremony in Montana on Saturday, June 24, 2017. The couple exchanged vows in front of a small group of family and close friends.
Here is what you need to know:
1. Stoll & Andrews’ Wedding Was ‘Intimate’
Andrews and Stoll worked with celebrity wedding planner Yifat Oren to make all of their wedding hopes and dreams come true. They exchanged vows at sunset at a secluded location in Montana. The wedding was described as “intimate” by People Magazine.
Before their big day, Andrews talked about her hectic schedule and how it wasn’t always easy to think about wedding planning.
“You know my man is the bridezilla! He is Pinteresting. I’m in Dallas Cowboy meetings, and he’s sending me, ‘Hey babe, I saw this on Pinterest,’ and I’m like, ‘Hey babe, will you let me get through Super Bowl?’” Andrews told Extra back in January.
Days before her wedding, Andrews posted the following photo of the sunset in Montana. This is believed to have been the backdrop to her perfect day.

2. Stoll Proposed to Andrews at Disneyland in December 2016

#Tbt To last week’s magical evening at @disneyland #Club33 @stolly28
Stoll popped the question at Disneyland’s exclusive Club 33, just two weeks before Christmas.
Soon after, Andrews was spotted at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with a diamond bauble on that finger, pretty much confirming that she and Stoll had taken the next step in their relationship. There had been a lot of chatter on social media, to which Andrews responded with hearts and kissy-face emojis, but didn’t confirm nor deny the rumors directly.
It wasn’t until her former Dancing With the Stars partner, Maks Chmerkovskiy, spilled the beans in an interview with Fox 5 TV Las Vegas that the world got confirmation. Since Andrews spoiled the news that Chmerkovskiy and his fiancee, Peta Murgatroyd, were expecting their first child by mistake during a live airing of Dancing With the Stars, many feel as though this was Maks’ attempt at friendly payback.
“I had an amazing time with Erin Andrews, who I think maybe just got engaged and maybe I’m breaking the news, I’m not sure. She also kinda, maybe broke the news of us being pregnant, so maybe that’s returning the favor over here,” Chmerkovskiy said.
A short time later, Andrews officially showed off her new bling in an Instagram photo (above). According to People Magazine, Andrews’ engagement ring looks like “a large cushion-cut stone on a slender band.”
“We went there for Christmas to see the Christmas decorations, and we had a lovely dinner there, and he did it right there at dinner at Disneyland. I was bawling like a child,” Andrews told Good Morning America about a month later.
3. Stoll & Andrews Have Been Dating Since 2012

Stoll and Andrews met in 2012 thanks to a mutual pal — Michael Strahan.
“He’s friends with both of us. And I knew Strahan wouldn’t set me up with someone I wouldn’t be interested in. He was good-looking, but at first, I said, ‘I don’t know …’ But Strahan said, ‘Just go to dinner. Trust me,’” Andrews told Your Tango back in 2014.
At the time, Stoll was playing for the Los Angeles Kings. The couple went out on their first date just before Valentine’s Day.
“We actually went for a nice dinner. We spent that day out in Malibu, it was like the day before …had a great day out there and then had a nice dinner out here by the beach. Just really mellow, low-key. played the next night, too, so I had a personal curfew set up. It wasn’t a late one, but it was good. It was relaxing and a great spot down here by the beach,” Stoll told E! News in 2013. “There’s obviously some sports she knows a little bit more about than me, it bothers me a little bit, but I’ll take it. Yeah, it’s fine. Right now it’s great. It’s her off-time right now—her down time—before baseball starts up again,” he added.
4. Andrews Wants to Have a Baby

Happy Birthday to Howard’s Dad @stolly28! We love you 🐻❤️🐶! Thank u @brozaphoto
Stoll and Andrews do not have any children of their own, but Andrews has expressed a strong desire to have children. Andrews was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016, but since she has beaten cancer — and didn’t need to undergo a hysterectomy — she says that she wants to become a mom.
“I definitely want it. Even though I’m crazy on the sidelines and doing other things with ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ absolutely. I didn’t have to have a hysterectomy and so … I’m fully capable of having a baby, but that’s because I went and got tested and because we were able to treat it early, and that’s all you need to tell the women in your life,” Andrews told Michael Strahan on Good Morning America back in March.
Andrews and Stoll were overjoyed to become “parents,” a month before they got married when they got a Golden Retriever. They named their new baby “Howard” and have shared several photos of him on social media. You can see some pictures of Howard below.

In February 2017, E! News caught up with Stoll and Andrews at the LIFEWTR: Art After Dark pre-Super Bowl LI party at Club Nomadic in Houston, Texas. The couple was asked what they wanted to accomplish in 2017 and Andrews was quick to mention that they were getting a dog.
“We want to get our Golden Retriever! We’re supposed to get him in May. We’ll get our dog before the wedding,” Andrews said.
“We’ve had a name for, like, a year now and we’re finally going to get him ,” Stoll added.
5. Andrews Stuck by Stoll Following His Vegas Arrest
Back in 2015, Stoll found himself in quite a big of trouble. He was arrested in Las Vegas after police say he had an 8-ball of cocaine and 8 grams of Molly on his person. According to TMZ, Stoll was on his way to the Wet Republic pool party at the MGM Grand when he went through a security area when the drugs were found.
“According to the police report, when asked if the powder inside the baggie was coke, Stoll said, ‘Yes.’ Cops say Stoll had 3.3 grams of coke … and 8.1 grams of Molly,” TMZ reported at the time.
Stoll was taken to jail and booked for drug possession. He was later released on $5,000 bond.
According to ESPN, the charges against Stoll were “lessened from felony cocaine possession to two misdemeanors” after he agreed to a plea deal. He was sentenced to 32 hours of community service.
Two misdemeanors for Stoll: 1) provoking commission of breach of peace and 2) trespass. 120 days to complete 32 hrs of community service

“Now that the case has been resolved I am committed to meeting all of my obligations to the Court and am grateful for the chance to offer guidance and share positive life lessons to kids as part of the resolution of this matter. My focus remains on hockey and I am looking forward to getting back on the ice next season,” Stoll said in a statement at the time.

Jarret Stoll was a pro hockey player with the NHL. Born in Melville, Saskatchewan, the Canadian athlete rose amongs the ranks in the league, playing with some of the greatest teams in history. He started his career with The Edmonton Oilers and did very well with the team, even setting a few records, like a 95.45% face-off wins in a single game. Stoll then moved on to the LA Kings, the New York Rangers and The Minnesota Wild, officially retiring in 2016. He now works as a talent scout for the LA Kings, who are having a great season in the NHL and look poised to succeed into the future.
Erin Andrews, the American sportscaster and TV personality is most definitely a hard worker, with various jobs in the media, including a gig as correspondent for Fox, NFL. She also co-hosts Dancing With The Stars. She previously worked for ESPN, and the ABC network’s Good Morning America. On top of all her professional responsibilities, she also does loads of charity work as well as endorsements for an array of products and causes.
To say that their lives are uneventful would be an outright lie, but the two make it work together, no matter what the obstacles, as there have been many. Here are 15 things about their relationship you may not have known.
15 They Have Actually Been Dating Since 2012
Their relationship seemed so new when news broke of their engagement, but that was primarily due to the fact that they’re very good at keeping secrets and being private about their personal lives. They kept themselves to themselves and there’s nothing wrong with that.
Interestingly enough, a hilarious comment that Stoll made to E! News that pretty much sums up his impressions of their first date… He told the news conglomerate, “There’s obviously some sports she knows a little bit more about than me, it bothers me a little bit, but I’ll take it. Yeah, it’s fine…” Fine indeed, we’re sure he was able to come up with a few reasons to put up with her shaming his knowledge in sports.
14 She Initially Denied Rumours Of Their Engagement
Although they were happy with their decision to wed, they weren’t exactly thrilled at the prospect of announcing it to the world right away. Instead, they chose to keep the news to themselves until they were ready. However, the press being as they may, were eager to find out about the rock she was sporting when they spotted her at LAX airport soon after her engagement.
Yet, she still held strong and denied all claims that the ring was related to she and Jarret moving on to the next phase of their relationship. And furthermore, when she was questioned about it on social media, all she did was respond with a series of emoticons. Yup… she kept them guessing for a while.
13 The Wind Beneath Her Wings
When she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016 she wondered about her future with Stoll… fearing that no man would want to sit by, spending his time going to doctor’s appointment after doctor’s appointment. But the truly gallant and honourable man proposed for marriage instead of looking for the back door. He never lost sight of what he wanted and never lost sight of their relationship and their future. He gallantly stood by her side through it all and was only looking past all the hell to their future.
She was obviously moved by his intentions as were many people watching and following their relationship all over the world. He actually asked for her hand 3 months after her diagnosis.
12 Standing Up For Herself
It’s no secret that she was involved in an unsettling incident in which photographs were taken of her when she was a guest at a big chain hotel and all without her knowledge. Years of legal proceedings followed in which she fought for her privacy and sued the large hotel chain and won a large amount of money in the process. The photos were taken without consent and featured the host and reporter in the shower. The ordeal was a lot to handle.
What’s a little less known is that their relationship was under a severe amount of strain at the time and for the first time ever, the strain seemed a bit too much. But thankfully, they made it over that hurdle as well.
11 Confirmation Of Their Engagement Came From An Unlikely Source
Seeing that they hadn’t planned on releasing a statement that either confirmed the speculation already circulating about their engagement, the juicy news had to come from somewhere, now didn’t it?
As it turns out, the beans were spilled by the unlikeliest of sources… her ex-dancing partner on Dancing With The Stars, Maks Chmerkovskiy. As it turns out, the dude couldn’t wait to divulge the information, as Erin had broken a secret of his in the not so distant past, claiming on air that he and his fiancé were expecting a child. Well, Maks got her back and big time, when he told the world of her engagement and on a live news broadcast with Fox 5 TV. Payback’s a… well, you can figure out the rest, we’re sure.
10 A Mutual Friend Introduced Them
Erin Andrews and Jarret Stoll aren’t strangers to rubbing shoulders with some of the media’s biggest stars. But as it turns out, even before they met, they had a mutual friend that would end up changing their lives forever. That mutual friend was none other than Michael Strahan himself. And it was Strahan himself that set the two up on their very first date.
Both parties had their reservations, but Strahan kept insisting… “just go to dinner…” and the two finally caved. They went to dinner and ended up clicking from the start. And to think, it almost never happened! Good thing they listened to good old Michael. What are friends for… eh?
9 Proposal In The Strangest Place On Earth
So, it was in December of 2016 and about two weeks before the Christmas Holliday that Jarret Stoll proposed to Erin Andrews and you won’t guess where. Was it aboard a romantic yacht on the coast of the French Islands? Was it on a beautiful mountaintop in Hawaii looking down on a gorgeous waterfall? Or maybe it was during a ride on a hot air balloon ride through the Canadian Prairies where Stoll originates from?
Well, it was neither of the above. He actually proposed to her at Disneyland. Albeit, it was at the exclusive Club 33, but still, proposing at Disneyland? Really? Hey… to each his own. The point is, she said yes and at the end of the day, that’s the bottom line, now isn’t it?
8 A Tight Schedule
These days and since Stoll’s retirement from active play in 2016, Erin’s schedule is definitely fuller than his. Although, working as a scout definitely has it’s very own demands and obligations, it can’t compare to her various TV appearances and the amount of meetings and interviews definitely add up in the end.
Even leading up to their wedding, Andrews didn’t have the time to plan the big event, and when Stoll would text her pictures or questions about the big day, she rarely had the time to respond. But the wedding did happen and it went off without a hitch, so they proved, as they do each day, that no matter what life throws at them, together, they get it all done.
7 Supported Him In His Final Years In Hockey
A pro athlete’s career is very important to him and of course that’s a glaring understatement. But what most people don’t understand is how hard and painful the process can be on the way out of the business. Some have had the opinion that it’s harder on the way out than on the way in, athletes not wanting to stop the fight and relinquish their spot to younger athletes.
And by no means is Stoll an old man… at 35 he’s still trim and very athletic, but it was indeed time to hang up the skates and stick. Regardless, his wife was by his side and stood by him, just as she was there for him when he won the Stanley Cup … she even got to drink from the famed trophy … now how many wives can say they did that?
6 They Adopted A Pup Before Their Wedding
What’s interesting is that the two were insistent on adopting a puppy before their wedding. In fact they did just that in May before they were to be married. Some would say it’s a good idea to adopt an animal before becoming parents of a child, in case they choose to have one, and the joint responsibility can add layers of fun and excitement to any relationship.
They adopted a Golden Retriever and they named him Howard. They shared tons of pictures on social media and he is definitely a scene stealer – adorable and those puppy dog eyes are enough to make anyone’s heart melt. The pictures prove that they made the right decision, as they both seem to be excellent with the little guy.
5 Run In With The Law
Unfortunately, the hockey star had quite the run in with authorities. It was in 2015, when he passed through the security section of the MGM Grand Hotel when he was on the way to a pool party, that a large amount of substances were found on him. When he was caught, he admitted that they were his and he was subsequently arrested. He was released and was made to pay a 5,000$ bond.
The charges were later lessened and he did community service, of which he served 32 hours… a small price for such a charge, indeed. At this point, the couple had been dating for two years and reports show that she definitely stood by her future husband’s side.
4 Their Wedding Was Smaller Than People Would Think
Contrary to popular belief, not all celebrity weddings are huge and full of hundreds or even thousands of people. Some celebrities prefer intimate affairs as opposed to the large scale attention their lives receive, and such was the case for Jarret Stoll and the beautiful and remarkable, Erin Andrews.
As it turns out, the two opted for a very intimate wedding and invited only a few close friends and members of each other’s family. The end result was a cozy, romantic and personable ceremony in the mountains, and they couldn’t have been happier, as the photos made public of the event can clearly show. The calm environment of the wedding was a definite contrast to the schedule they had leading up to the big day.
3 His Romantic History
Well, as it turns out, Erin Andrews wasn’t the first bombshell that Jarret Stoll dated and was engaged to. That’s right. The former hockey player dated and was engaged to model Rachel Hunter. They were set to get married in 2009, but apparently, there was indeed trouble in paradise and the wedding got canceled.
And just like that, Stoll was single and on the market once again. Apparently, sources close to him have stated that at the time he was more than ready to play the field, but only a few years later, he met Erin and the rest is… well, you know where we’re going with this. Everything happens for a reason, as the old saying goes.
2 She Apparently Makes More Money Than Him
When you’re a kid and you dream of being the next Wayne Gretzky, the next Serena or Venus Williams or the next Mike Tyson (okay… maybe not Mike Tyson, but you catch our drift), you think constantly about the money you’ll make in the future, the women you’ll date, the house you’ll live in and did we mention… the money you’ll make?
Well, it wasn’t any different for Jarret Stoll, we’re sure. We wonder, though if he ever imagined that his future wife would have made more money than even him, a star athlete for the NHL. Turns out it’s true; she’s worth a whopping 20 million! My, oh my! It seems, however, that it doesn’t bother him much, as it shouldn’t.
1 Planning On Children
When she had suffered her health scare in 2016, the medical staff that attended to her suggested that she freeze her embryos and his “seed”, especially if they ever planned on having children in the near future. As it turned out, she was way ahead of them, as the sports reporter and host had already frozen her eggs a little while back, as it was a very popular practice at the time.
When she had been diagnosed, the couple hadn’t even been talking about marriage, let alone children, but by the time 2017 came around, she told Health Magazine that she had started IVF treatments, so maybe they will be welcoming a child soon. We, here at The Sportster wish them all the best and hope they become parents, as they certainly would make great ones.

After tying the knot on Saturday, Erin Andrews has shared photos of her Montana wedding to former NHL player Jarret Stoll.
The bride was just as beautiful as the landscape in her Carolina Herrera-designed dress, which she described in an Instagram post as “perfection.” (Scroll through the post to see all of the pics of the bride and groom.)
“June 24th was so perfect! Can we do it again next wkd?” the “Dancing with the Stars” host, 39, wrote, thanking all those who helped create her fairy-tale day, including jeweler Neil Lane.
Andrews and Stoll exchanged vows in a sunset ceremony at the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky in front of a small group of friends and family.
The wedding was held on Stoll’s 35th birthday, which Andrews celebrated on Instagram over the weekend with a cute photo.
The happy couple began dating in 2012 and got engaged last December. In an interview with Health magazine published earlier this month, Andrews discussed the support she received from Stoll after she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016.
“You don’t know if a guy is going to want to sit in with an oncologist and see, ‘OK, so this is your cervix, and this is your uterus, and we are cutting out this part,'” the Fox sportscaster said. “We hadn’t even been discussing marriage. We hadn’t discussed babies! It really puts things on the fast track for you — because you have an oncologist saying to you, ‘We highly recommend that you guys do your embryos right now, freeze them.’ I’m like, ‘Hi, hon. I love you. I hope we’re spending our lives together.’ And he was amazing.”
