Eva Mendes’ 1980s makeup has fans asking about plastic surgery – and her response is perfect
Who knew Eva Mendes was the ultimate 1980s diva? The actress shared a brand new retro makeover – complete with “enhanced” lips, dark bouffant hair and well, a LOT of makeup. “Back to work serving Dynasty aesthetics,” she wrote alongside a short clip where fans of the iconic ’80s show will recognize the Alexis-Colby-ready-for-a-Krystle-Carrington-catfight vibes. Makeup artist María Vargas-Guzman was the mind behind Eva’s incredible beauty transformation, while Eva’s hairstylist Mike Lorenzano created her big hair, don’t care look.

The most hilarious part about Eva’s new look was the comments from her fans, many of which she responded to herself. The makeover was so dramatic that one fan asked Eva, “Is that actually your hair??!!” The star replied, “No. Wig. And my face is done up to look like I’ve had you know, enhancements …ha.” Other followers were so sure that the “cosmetic surgery” was real, that they reprimanded her, with one writing: “Stop that plastic surgery…!” Her tongue-in-cheek reply was, “Relax dad. It’s makeup to make me look different and ‘done’. My make up artist was that good. And I hope you know that’s not my real hair either! Ha! sending good vibes.”

Eva Mendes Credits This Supplement for Her Glowing, Ageless Skin
In case you were wondering where Eva Mendes has been lately, the actress and partner of Ryan Gosling says that as the mother of two daughters under the age of three, Esmeralda, 2, and Amada, 11 months, she’s become a bit of a homebody. She tells Shape that her idea of “me” time is a three-times-a-week workout schedule that allows her to occasionally indulge in a few of her guilty pleasures—her mom’s Cuban cooking and two types of Cadbury Creme Eggs.

“The mini ones and the big ones with the filling,” she says, describing the irresistible foods she breaks her clean eating habit for. “My mom makes me the best black beans in the world. I’ll never stop devouring them.”
As for her ageless looks, the 43-year-old credits natural remedies like omega-3 fatty acids and coconut oil for her radiant skin. “For me, glowing skin comes from the inside. I start to get sallow if I’m not eating well. I take fish oil supplements. And I love coconut oil. I apply it to my face. That’s my go-to. I also drink a lot of water. I always keep a bottle with me and kind of force myself to drink. My skin just looks better when I’m hydrated.”
You probably won’t see the star going makeup-free anytime soon. In addition to being the creative director of drugstore beauty brand CIRCA Beauty, she also really enjoys the pastime of putting it on. “I wear makeup every day. Typically, it’s minimal—a little eyeliner, lip liner and balm, and some concealer. It takes me about five minutes to apply it. But when I get ready for an event or a dinner, I do like to take my time putting my makeup on. To me, the process of getting ready can be really, really romantic. It takes me probably 45 minutes because I go very slow.”
She also confesses to adopting a few makeup tricks to sculpt her face and emphasize her best features. “I’ve learned some very good makeup tricks too, like how important it is to work with your face shape,” says Mendes. “Because I have a long face, my makeup artist taught me to swipe blush across one cheek and lightly over the nose, then over the other cheek to help break up the length a bit. Another great tip to try: Add some illumination to your Cupid’s-bow right above your lip by putting a little bit of highlighter—or even a dab of light eye shadow—there. That will give some pop to your lips.”

If someone asked you to guess how old Eva Mendes was, how old would you say she was? If all you had to guess her age was her beautiful face and body, you’d probably say she was in her thirties, right? However, she’s actually turning 44 in March and it’s hard to believe just how beautiful she is at her age.
Therefore, it’s important for us to try and find out why a woman of her age should look so hot because she could be hiding the secret to never aging and she has been testing it on herself the last few years. Mendes is an accomplished and highly talented actress and she has also made a successful career in modelling and as a businesswoman.
Some of her most notable films include her roles in 2 Fast 2 Furious, We Own the Night, Stuck on You, and Hitch, among others, as well as other roles on different TV series. She is a model and an ambassador for many brands including Magnum ice cream, Cartier, Revlon, Reebok, Calvin Klein, Pantene shampoo, Thierry Mugler perfume, Peek & Cloppenburg, and Campari apéritif, among others. She is CIRCA Beauty’s creative director, a New York & Company makeup fashion collection.
Here are 15 things Eva Mendes does to look the way she does. Since she looks exceptionally beautiful, it only makes sense that she does a few things in an exceptional way. If any woman was to take care and pay as much attention to her looks as Mendes does, there’s no reason why she shouldn’t get similar results.
15 She Always Uses Omega-3 Fatty Acids To Improve Her Skin
Fish oils have so many health benefits that regardless of how healthy you think you are if you don’t take them on a regular basis, you’re missing so much. Eva Mendes says her beauty comes from within, so whenever she experiences any form of paleness for whatever reason, she knows it’s time to take omega-3 fatty acids.
These fish oils nourish an individual’s skin by adding fat-soluble vitamins, which help to maintain the skin’s smoothness and elastic texture. Fish oils also prevent the skin from wrinkling, reduce inflammation, and slow down the aging process. Furthermore, research has also proven that fish oil supplements can provide relief from sunburn and any sun-induced inflammation.
When an individual does not have these essential oils in his or her body, he or she will lose too much moisture through the skin, which can lead to dandruff, eczema, psoriasis, and even thinning hair. Taking fish oils regularly can prove to be better than applying conventional moisturizers, and they will definitely help you look beautiful and keep you as ageless as Mendes.
14 She Uses Coconut Oil For EVERYTHING
If you have the good habit of always checking the contents of every beauty product you buy before applying it on your face, you must have noticed just how many of those products has coconut oil in them. Manufacturers of beauty products know just how important coconut oil is just even on its own, let alone the overall advantages it adds to their finished products.
Coconut oil is naturally anti-fungal and antibacterial, a few of the reasons why it’s such a wonderful moisturizer. These oils can penetrate hair better than all other oils on the market, and they smell great.
One more reason why Mendes looks ageless is her love for coconut oil. She applies this oil on her face and on her hair owing to its antibacterial and antifungal qualities and uses it to moisturize her hands, her face, and her whole body throughout the day. She prefers using the Estée Lauder Hydrationist Moisture Crème since it’s thick and is great when worn under makeup.
13 She Keeps Hydrated 24/7
How much water do you drink per day? Fluids are very important in maintaining an individual’s health and they are central to helping the brain, the heart, and the muscles to operate properly. Water, which you drink directly or in the form of different fluids and in food, helps to carry nutrients to cells, to aid digestion as well as to flush out bacteria from the bladder.
When it comes to its role in beauty, water keeps the skin soft and healthy, since it prevents the skin from drying up, itching, and even aging. Lack of enough water in the body will cause the skin to lose its elasticity, become rough, flaky, and inflamed, while also exaggerating wrinkles and fine lines on the skin.
Mendes looks amazing because she always carries a bottle of water and even forces herself to drink it when she’s not thirsty. However, she has also been trying out the Estée Lauder New Dimension Expert Liquid Tape and Shape And Fill Expert Serum to make her skin look fresh and hydrated all the time.
12 The Secret To Minimal Makeup And When She Doesn’t Want To Apply It
Like all the beautiful celebrities out there, you will hardly ever catch Mendes without makeup, because she really cares about how she looks. However, she doesn’t always take too much time applying makeup, though the time she will spend will largely depend on her program for the day.
On a normal day, she will only take five minutes to apply all her makeup. Her minimal makeup routine involves applying a tinted moisturizer and then she dabs on some pink cheek stain. She also includes a bit of lip liner, eyeliner, and balm. The fact that she claims to have dark circles on her face means she always has to wear a concealer. However, when she’s going out to dinner or an event, she will take about 45 minutes to get ready.
When she really doesn’t want to wear makeup, because there are such days, yet she still has to look polished and amazing, she usually mixes her moisturizer with a bronzer. This gives her the naturally healthy and polished look she needs on such days.
11 She Uses The Shape Of Her Face To Her Advantage
When you spend time in a particular field for a while, you will discover how to do things in a better and more efficient way, tactics which you acquire when you’re on the job through experience. For celebrities like Eva Mendes, many different makeup artists have applied makeup on her face, depending on the show she will be appearing on or the salon she decides to visit.
Unlike most people, she can afford the very best makeup artists on the planet, and when she’s having her face done she will obviously pay attention to what is happening and even ask questions concerning the process. Over the years, she has learned a few tricks that make it easy to apply makeup on her own face and to produce even better results.
Owing to the fact that she has a long face, Mendes has learned to swipe blush horizontally across her cheeks (never vertically) while also applying a bit of it over her nose in order to break the length.
10 She Uses Makeup To Draw Attention To Her Eyes
If you know anything about makeup, then you know how important it is to apply the right makeup on the eyes in a professional way. Of course, the eyes are considered the windows to someone’s soul, so you need to let everyone who sees them know you’re a beautiful soul.
Your choice of eyeliner is just as important as how you apply it because you have to consider what you’re wearing, what time of the day or night your event will take place, and of what nature the event it is. You can play around with how you apply the eyeliner while having in mind your objective is to make your eyes pop.
Women who want to look casual can line the upper outer lid only whereas those who want to look good during the day or in the evening can line both the upper and lower outer lids. Women who want an intense look can line both the upper and lower lids as well as the inner rim of the lower eyelid. To attract even more attention to her eyes, Mendes never lines her outer corners; she keeps them open.
9 She Uses Deep Hair Treatments
What is the worst thing that has ever happened to your hair? When your hair starts becoming dry and frizzy, or even starts splitting and breaking off, you need to take immediate action, unless you’re okay with losing all your hair. The best way to prevent hair problems is to go for treatment as often as you can.
Although conditioners are great, they don’t offer the same benefits treatments do, because conditioners act on the surface of the hair to provide temporary strength and protection. Conditioners don’t penetrate the hair, as is the case with treatments, which not only penetrate the hair but also maintain its internal strength and restore the weak and splitting hair to normal.
Mendez doesn’t blow-dry her hair, but she takes hair treatments seriously. At least once every few weeks after shampooing her hair, she soaks her hair in coconut oil, massages it, puts a shower cap on, and leaves it overnight. In the morning, she rinses her hair properly and her hair looks amazing.
8 She Makes Her Lips Pop By Highlighting The Cupid’s Bow
Lipstick has a way of brightening up a woman’s face, making it look beautiful and polished. However, when women make the mistake of applying lipstick the wrong way so it appears imbalanced or gets on their teeth, it can be a huge embarrassment.
Therefore, if you want to apply like a pro, you first need to apply lip balm to help you have an even application. Then use a lip liner that matches the color of your lips to prevent the lipstick from feathering and to encourage a more defined lip line. Apply the lipstick starting from the upper lip’s center moving towards the corners of the lips. Finally, blot out the lips with a facial tissue to keep it off your teeth and to help it last longer.
Eva Mendes confessed she was once obsessed with Cindy Crawford and loved wearing Revlon lipstick, though you’ll probably see her wearing Circa. Mendes makes her lipstick pop even more by adding some illumination on her Cupid’s bow above the lip using a highlighter. You can try it one of these fine days and see the results.
7 Her Signature Scent Is From Estee Lauder
Have you ever been in such a hurry that you left the house without wearing any cologne or perfume? This is possibly one of the worst ways to start your day because you will imagine everyone around you knows you didn’t wear any, then you’ll start sweating, and for sure, they will discover just how horrible you smell.
According to Eva Mendes, Cubans love to douse themselves and their children with a type of cologne called “violetas,” which actually smells like violets. Therefore, if you get an opportunity to come close enough, you’ll probably detect the beautiful smell of violets, and if you enter any of the rooms in her house, you can be sure you’ll find a bottle of “violetas” inside.
However, when Mendes was just 13 years old, she came across a sample of Knowing By Estee Lauder Eau De Parfum Spray, and she has loved it ever since. Everyone associates this perfume with Mendes, making it her signature scent. She has worn this perfume since she was in seventh grade, and according to her, a woman should smell like it.
6 Her Mom’s Advice Is To Blend Face Cream Upwards To Avoid Wrinkles
Being human means that when we’re young, our parents appear as if they can do no wrong, then they appear as if they’re always wrong, and finally we discover they were right more times than we could’ve imagined. Therefore, regardless of what situation we’re facing in life, as long as they’re kind and respectable, we should always treasure their advice, because they will not be around forever.
Some of the beauty secrets Mendes learned from her mom have greatly contributed to making her look as ageless as she does today. For example, her mom always told her to “blend upward” when putting on face cream, as well as to sprinkle a bit of baby powder on her hair to facilitate better absorption of oils, which she does and has never regretted.
However, the one thing she regrets is ignoring her mother’s advice when she told her to moisturize her elbows, which she never did and in her own words, “they’re hideous.”
5 She Is All About Doing Squats And Works Out 5 Days A Week
As you would expect, it would be next to impossible for Eva Mendes, who is a mother of two, a businesswoman, and an actress to maintain her beautiful figure and outstanding radiance without some sort of workout regimen.
Like a disciplined professional, Mendes loves doing intervals of running and sprinting versus episodes of steady cardio on the treadmill. She also lifts weights under the instruction of professional trainers, because even when she had a herniated disc, she kept working out in a way that wouldn’t aggravate her condition. Although she loves doing squats, when she was injured she was advised to do lunges instead, an instruction which broke her heart.
During her off-season, she works out three days a week, which is great, however, when she’s preparing for an event or during summer, she hits the gym five days a week. When she’s working out, her body benefits so much from the sweating, the increased heart rate, and the retention of her muscles.
4 Her Diet Is High In Protein
Eva Mendes loves proteins, which is the reason she will always start her day with eggs. Eggs are her first option every morning because she can do so many things with them, though most of the time she’ll just scramble a few and have them together with a slice of Ezekiel toast.
However, if you’re ever planning to pay her a visit and decide to bring delicious muffins or any other sweet treat, she’ll not hesitate to take it with coffee, though she’ll regret it later on. Mendes loves starting her day with the right protein-rich foods, which is something every one of us should strive to do, especially if we want the secret to her beauty.
With regard to what she likes eating throughout the day, she has a habit of eating some kind of grain in every meal. However, she loves having salmon and quinoa or rice with a healthy salad, both for lunch and dinner, because she hardly ever gets bored with food.
3 She Avoids Sugar Because It Is Terrible For The Skin
By now, everyone knows sugar is bad, but why did it have to be so sweet? Experts say the only things sugar does are to displace nutritious food from a diet and to add calories to someone’s diet. The risks involved here include losing out on nutrients and resulting in excessive weight gain.
However, not all sugars are bad, since those that occur naturally in fruit, milk and some vegetables are perfectly healthy. The processed sugars are the enemy, though you can have your desert the way you like it, you must be strategic enough to eat it in moderation.
Mendes loves sweets, and she has to keep reminding herself to manage her cravings. The reason she can have sweets after every meal is she works out on a regular basis, so she actually works off her sugar intake. If you don’t have the time or resources to work out, please cut down on as many sugar-rich foods and drinks as possible.
2 She Uses Special Foundation For Olive Skin Tones
You might be one of those women who have an easy time finding the right foundation for their skin tone, which is great. However, Mendes is not so lucky, because her beautiful olive skin requires specialized foundations, and here’s where EX1 Cosmetics comes in. These cosmetics were made for people with olive tones, which is the reason Mendes is a fan. Therefore, she takes great care in choosing everything from foundation to lipstick, while staying away from cool tones.
When it comes to her makeup essentials, her arsenal will usually consist of a black eyeliner pencil, a cream blush, and a good base. This might be a shocker for most women since you would expect a woman who looks as beautiful as she does, walks around with an extra bag full of makeup. Her pencil of choice is the L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Le Khol Eye Liner Pencil. It’s interesting just how amazing she looks even with just the essentials.
1 She Goes For A Simple Makeup Removal
Although it’s common knowledge you should always remove your makeup before going to bed, the damage you can do to your skin when you decide to spend the night without removing it properly will cost you. When we go to sleep, your skin starts to renew itself, therefore, leaving makeup on will prevent this very important process from taking place. Makeup prevents the skin from breathing and this will result in the appearance of signs of fatigue.
When you do not remove makeup properly from your skin, it will clog the skin’s pores and lead to the breakout of blackheads and acne. Therefore, it’s very important for anyone who wears any form of makeup to remove it using proper makeup removers and then to moisturize the face to help it to breathe. Eva Mendes loves keeping things simple, which also includes her choice of makeup remover. Her choice remover is wiping her face with a washcloth wet with coconut oil.

Eva Mendes is in her happy place, and it shows. The actress, 43, is blissed out as Ryan Gosling’s leading lady; the mom of Esmeralda, 2, and Amada, 11 months; and the successful head of a fashion line, the Eva Mendes Collection at New York & Company, and a beauty brand, Circa. She’s also savoring her role as Ryan’s rock behind the scenes as he hits the awards circuit for La La Land. “What people don’t know about me is that I love being home,” Eva says. “Instead of hitting the red carpet, I’d rather be with our girls.”
Another thing Eva relishes is exercise, and that too is evident in her strong body and beautiful skin. “Working out allows me to spend time on myself,” she says. “Knowing that I have an hour to dedicate to my wellness is a priority for me now.” She tries to eat “as clean as possible” but also digs into her favorite indulgences with gusto. One of Eva’s top treats: Cadbury eggs. “The mini ones and the big ones with the filling,” she says. And then there’s her mother’s delicious Cuban cooking. “My mom makes the best black beans in the world,” she says. “I’ll never stop devouring them.”
Listen in as Eva expands on the life philosophies that keep her healthy and radiantly happy.
Believe in finding the One…workout
“I love doing intervals, like running and sprinting, and I see great results with that versus the 30 or 45 minutes of steady cardio I used to do on the treadmill. Between intervals, I lift weights. Right now I’m sticking to light weights because I have a herniated disc in my lower back. It’s pretty severe, and I have to work around it. I love squats, but I’ve been told that I have to do lunges instead of squats for the time being. I know a lot of people wouldn’t find that heartbreaking, but I really do!
“I’m off-season right now, so I work out three days a week. But when I’m getting ready for an event or in the summer, it’s five days a week. I don’t exercise more than that though, because I see better results when my body has a rest period.”
There are perks to everything-you just have to look
“In some ways, it’s been more challenging to get back in shape after my second daughter. Yet it’s not as hard as I thought it would be, because I’m always running around with the kids. I never sit down-I’m on the move all day. And I don’t keep junk food at home anymore, because I’m trying to set a good example. So there are no more Krispy Kremes for me to grab. But there is this app called Postmates that delivers whatever you want in minutes. It’s almost as bad as having the food in your kitchen. Don’t laugh, but they’re on the way here right now!”
Rely on tricks to look lit
“For me, glowing skin comes from the inside. I start to get sallow if I’m not eating well. I take fish oil supplements. And I love coconut oil. I apply it to my face. That’s my go-to. I also drink a lot of water. I always keep a bottle with me and kind of force myself to drink. My skin just looks better when I’m hydrated.
“I wear makeup every day. Typically, it’s minimal-a little eyeliner, lip liner and balm, and some concealer. It takes me about five minutes to apply it. But when I get ready for an event or a dinner, I do like to take my time putting my makeup on. To me, the process of getting ready can be really, really romantic. It takes me probably 45 minutes because I go very slow.
“I’ve learned some very good makeup tricks too, like how important it is to work with your face shape. Because I have a long face, my makeup artist taught me to swipe blush across one cheek and lightly over the nose, then over the other cheek to help break up the length a bit. Another great tip to try: Add some illumination to your Cupid’s bow right above your lip by putting a little bit of highlighter-or even a dab of light eyeshadow-there. That will give some pop to your lips.”

“I usually start my day with eggs. I think they’re like magic-you can do so much with them. I mostly keep it simple and have scrambled eggs and a piece of Ezekiel toast for breakfast. But if somebody brings over muffins or some other kind of delicious treat, I’ll eat that with my coffee instead. It’s a terrible way to begin my day, though. I really regret it later, because I just don’t have as much energy. I find that when I start out with the right source of protein, it definitely helps.
I grew up eating rice and beans, so I want some kind of grain in every meal. For lunch, I usually have salmon and rice or quinoa, and I try to include a salad. I’ll eat the same thing for dinner. I’m a creature of habit in that way. I don’t get bored with food. I try to think about it as fuel for my body. But what I am looking forward to is the time when dinner becomes a sit-down situation again. Right now I’m in survival mode with two babies, eating on the go.”
A little sugar is important too
“Sweets are my thing. It’s ongoing, and I have to manage my sugar cravings constantly. I’ve gotten used to having something sweet after every meal, so I’m always bartering with myself: No, no, I can’t have that after dinner, but maybe I can have it after lunch instead. The kid in me thinks, I work out, so I can support my sugar habit. I know that’s not a very wise thing to say, but I really do feel like I’m working it off!”

Beauty secrets: Eva Mendes dishes on her beauty tips
Sexy, healthy hair tips from Eva Mendes …
How does it feel to be perceived as a sex symbol?
Eva Mendes: It’s flattering, but I refuse to take it too seriously because the day I will lose it, my self-esteem will take a hit. I would like people to see me as a funny, smart and talented woman and not only as sexy. I actually find the word “sexy” to have a very superficial connotation. I would prefer the word “sensual”, which takes into account attitude, personality and beauty.
Do you use your healthy hair as a seduction tool?
EM: My hair really makes me feel feminine – there’s nothing like having a good hairstyle to make me feel confident. It’s magical! I feel radiant when I walk out of the hair salon, even if I’m horribly dressed and without makeup. When I have the right hairstyle, nothing can bring me down! And let’s be honest, guys love a woman with confidence!
How do you take care of your hair?
EM: On movie sets, my hair is constantly dyed, curled, crimped and manipulated with hair products. When I get some time off, I try to let me hair fall naturally on my shoulders. If my hair needs a little boost, I use “Breakage to Strength” from Pantene, which I leave on all night. I apply it on wet hair before going to bed and wear a showercap to protect my pillow – it’s incredibly chic! In the morning, I rinse out the product and brush my hair. It works wonders!

Tell us about your favourite beauty products.
EM: Hydrating my skin is my priority when choosing
skincare products. I am obsessed with Dr. Perricone’s products. My favourite is the No Foundation Foundation a hydrating lotion with SPF. It lightly covers imperfections, and I can leave the house confident, without adding powder. I am loyal to Tom Ford’s lipsticks. I love their smooth and hydrating texture.
Can you share any of your beauty secrets?
EM: I clean my face with rose water because tap water dehydrates my skin. In the mornings and evenings, I cleanse using a little rose water dabbed onto some cotton. It’s really refreshing!

What beauty steps do you follow in the mornings?
EM: I drink a cup of warm lemony water. It’s a common practice in Japanese cultures used to wake up the whole body. This mixture stimulates the metabolism, purifies the body and revives the skin. It’s also a great remedy to overcome jetlag!
Who do you turn to when you need beauty advice?
EM: My mother. She is honest – even a little too honest at times. She gives her opinion about my tv appearances and magazine photos without censoring herself. My dresses, hair, makeup, posture… she pays attention to everything! The other day, she confessed that the smooth chignon I wore to a film premiere made my head look too small compared to the rest of my body. Ouch! Let’s just say that I can always count on my mother to help me keep my feet on the ground!

6 Beauty Lessons Eva Mendes Taught Us
Eva Mendes is possibly the epitome of effortless beauty.
The mother-of-two graced the cover of our September 2016 issue, only weeks after giving birth to her second daughter, and she looked gorgeous as ever. We turned to the CIRCA Beauty creative director to snag a few beauty tips because clearly, homegirl knows what she’s doing.
Here are six beauty lessons the Cuban American star taught us:

1. Know your face: “To know your face shape and to know what you’re working with. For me, because I have a long face and strong jaw, even a little thing like applying the cream blush (CIRCA Ultrasuede Cream Blush), I apply it horizontally (and never skip the nose), it really helps break up my face.”
2. How to properly apply foundation: “Well, one of the things I love about Circa at Walgreens is that we have testers for foundation. It’s really cool and very rare. After being open to testing these certain shades, I’ve heard that the best way to do it is apply on your cheekbone, not your hand or your wrist. It’s very rare that those areas are the same color as our faces.”
3. Use baby powder for oily strands: “I use baby powder in my hair; it soaks up oil and gives you this very dry texture, and makes my hair manageable if I want to put it up. So if I leave it down it gives me a good texture, and if I put it up it just kind of, I don’t know, works. That’s something else I got from my mom.”
4. Top three CIRCA items everyone should own: “The CIRCA Ultrasuede Cream Blush in 03 Portofino, for sure. I just do that with my fingers, and you can use it on your lips, too. I love it so much. We have a really amazing bronzing powder the color is Amalfi Coast and I love it because it’s super-matte and you can use it for light contour, too. The Magic Hour Illuminating Glow, again it’s multipurpose, you can use on your Cupid’s bow, under the eyes, on the brow bone, and as highlighter on your cheekbones and it helps wake me up when I haven’t gotten any sleep.”
5. How to make your eyes appear less tired: “To create a bigger and more awake eye I use Circa High Definition Eye Lining Pencil. I don’t close my eyeliner at the corners of my eyes. It’s a lifesaver!”

6. Have a personal scent: “My parents were strict when it came to using makeup, I was very limited in what I can use until I turned 18. My mom showed me the importance of having a personal scent and how to apply eyeshadow.”
New mom Eva Mendes stepped out in Los Angeles on Halloween and you would never guess she’d given birth, oh, just around seven weeks ago. The 40-year-old—who welcomed daughter Esmeralda Amada on Sept. 12 with boyfriend Ryan Gosling—looked comfy and casual in a black cardigan, trousers and brown platform booties.

“Eva’s flattered that people think she looks good, but she’s not taking complete credit for it. She knows genetics plays a big role. She has great genes,” a source tells E! News exclusively. The insider reveals that Eva’s been drinking more water and tea than ever, as well as following a high protein/low carb meal delivery plan. Breast-feeding also helps with post-pregnancy weight loss, but Eva is being careful to take in an extra 300 calories a day—the same amount she added to her diet while pregnant.
“Overall, she’s trying to eat only when hungry and not snack too much,” the source shared. But the Hitch actress is still game for the occasional cheat night. “For her splurges, her mom’s been cooking her traditional Spanish dishes. Those are her treats. While Ryan is gone, her mom has been spending a lot of time helping her. His mom comes too, but her mom is the mainstay,” the source revealed.
According to the source, Eva and Ryan FaceTime constantly so he can keep up with his little girl while filming The Nice Guys in Atlanta. Gosling was also seen in Los Angeles last weekend—likely getting in some quality time at home with his girls. She has been taking Esmeralda on short walks, which is an easy fitness habit for new moms to pick up in the weeks after having a baby.
Eva Mendes’ morning beauty secret you will want to steal
A relaxing habit
The benefits? The purpose of the roller is to reduce puffiness, especially puffy, tired eyes. It also has a firming effect on the skin, in addition to reducing the irritation, redness, and puffiness that can appear in sensitive areas. The actress is proof of it! At 45, she looks younger than ever.
Good news is that your face isn’t the only part of your body that can benefit from this beauty routine. If you have a headache you can relieve it using an ice roller, or if have stiff muscles after working out, a good massage with your roller will help relieve the area.
Remember to always wash and dry the rollers after use, it´s very easy. You can do this by wiping the surface with a cotton ball dipped in alcohol.

The celeb roller
The “frozen trend” has become an alternative treatment for other celebrities like actress Emilia Clarke, who swears by it when she wants to eliminate signs of fatigue or late nights from her face: “This trick literally sucks your face in,” she said.
Like Emilia, the incredible skin of Kendall Jenner is due to these massages. During an interview with Allure magazine, Kim´s sister praised its benefits “I used it on set the other day and liked it so I bought one.” This is a routine that Kendall shares with American model Karlie Kloss, who said to The Strategist: “it comes in handy when you get off a red-eye and have to go straight into a busy day having to look your best.”
Follow their example and try out this technique. It will give your skin the brightness and freshness it needs, and you´ll feel like a diva!
We asked this Hollywood star a few questions about her seemingly effortless look:
DO YOU HAVE ANY MAKEUP TRICKS?
To draw attention to my eyes, I never line the outer corners. Another trick is, if you have a longer face like I do, when applying blush, blend it horizontally across your face so there’s a little on your nose too.
ARE YOU AS SAVVY WITH YOUR HAIR?
Oh no, I’m terrible at blow-drying. But I’m into hair treatments. Once a month, after shampooing, I douse my wet hair with coconut oil. I massage it in, then I put on a shower cap, leave it on overnight and rinse it out the next morning.
WHAT ARE YOUR SKINCARE ESSENTIALS?
I’m on the coconut-oil bandwagon, so I use it on more than my hair. It’s my moisturiser for my hands, body, even my face – though for day, I prefer Estée Lauder Hydrationist Maximum Moisture Creme. It’s thick and wears well under makeup.
WHAT OTHER BEAUTY TRADITIONS DO YOU HAVE?
My mom is so old-world; she’d always say to me, ‘Blend upward,’ when putting on her face cream. She’d also sprinkle baby powder in her hair to absorb oil, and now I do it too. Another thing she told me was to moisturise my elbows, but I never did. Now they’re hideous and I think of her whenever I look at them!

Get the Look: Eva Mendes
There are those celebrities that always look so polished but natural at the same time. Eva Mendes is one of those. Her makeup is always simple and flawless, accentuating her incredible skin and beautiful eyes. We’re going to let you in on the secrets to getting her look.
Eva Mendes’ Beauty Secrets
Eva is one of the most gorgeous women in the world and she loves to share tips on her beauty regime, even doing a Q&A on her facebook page! Whenever she talks about beauty, there are some tips she always swears by:
Eva is a big advocate of keeping her skin well hydrated from within, saying that she drinks water religiously.
However, since having her baby she has a few products that are total miracle workers for her: the Estée Lauder New Dimension Expert Liquid Tape and Shape And Fill Expert Serum as well as the classic Advanced Night Repair.
I use my Estée Lauder Dimension tape and serum (they’re life savers!!!) both in morning and at night.
Eva says that cream blush is one of her can’t-live-without beauty essentials. She tends to stick with warm, peachy corals like the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Cream Blush in Nectar. It isn’t just about the colour though, Eva has a secret application tip for her glowing skin.
When applying blush or rouge of any kind, don’t skip your nose. Make sure you apply it a little bit across your nose as well. It makes for a more natural, sun-kissed look
The Right Tones
Eva has beautiful olive skin but finding foundation and makeup which works with that isn’t always easy. This is exactly what Farah Naz, the founder of EX1 Cosmetics has said and that is why her foundations are ideal for complementing olive tones.
Finding the right tones for my face has been the key. Whether it’s foundation or lipstick, I stay away from cold tones. Warmer works best for me.
Eva swears by the basics, which fits with her gorgeous natural beauty looks. A great base, a cream blush and a black eyeliner pencil are all she needs in her beauty arsenal. We can’t live without our liner either! We love the L’Oréal Paris Color Riche Le Khol Eye Liner Pencil.
I also cannot live without a a black pencil for my eyes.
Simple Makeup Removal
Eva keeps a lot of her beauty routine pretty simple, especially her makeup removal. She says her number one makeup remover is coconut oil on a damp washcloth. We can get on board with that!
I’m also on the coconut oil bandwagon. I use it all over.
A Signature Scent
It feels very luxurious to have a signature perfume that everyone can associate with you. Eva has been wearing the Estée Lauder Knowing Eau De Parfum Spray since she received a sample at a counter when she was just 13.
I loved it and have been wearing it ever since because, in my mind, it smells exactly like a woman should smell. My mother still gives it to me every year for Christmas.
