It was her 30th birthday when Sarah Evans weight was 248 pounds. She decided to get back into shape and shed all her bad eating habits.

Shreveport (Louisiana) resident Evans says it was supposed to be my birthday getaway which ended up into a miserable trip.

Recalling her 30th birthday, Evans said, “I took two weeks off for my birthday in September 2012 to visit Las Vegas with my best friends. But it turned out to be miserable.”

Her outing turned horrible as she suffered constant thigh chafing due to those extra fats. “I went through an entire bottle of Gold Bond powder but everything gone wrong.”

Her obesity added to Evans woes as she hated how she looked in every photo.

“All these girls were enjoying themselves in bikinis poolside, and there I was, trying to cover up and hide,” she recalls.

This was when Evans decided that she was going to enjoy her future birthdays.

“Growing up in the South, eating large portions at every meal was a must. Breakfast included bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes and biscuits. Lunch was some sort of fast food, and dinner included a three-course meal of fritters for appetizers, fried chicken, collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and corn bread,” Evans said.

Evans also went to the tech way to have some interesting weight loss apps. She downloaded the “Couch to 5K” app to set two goals: run a 5000 without break and lose 30 to 40 pounds.

“When I started the program, I couldn’t run more than 30 seconds. Now I’m running two or three 5Ks a week. Somewhere along the way I fell in love with running,” she wrote in her iReport.

Evans’ hard work and determination started yielding results and gradually she started losing flab. She lost 120 pounds in 19 months.

“Trying to stick to this routine has taught me the importance of encouraging myself, because I didn’t have a support system in the beginning,” Evans said.

She also switched to a low-carb diet that included yogurt, hard boiled eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast; chicken salad or tuna for lunch; steak, fish with kale or baked chicken with green vegetables for dinner; and cheese slices, nuts or Jell-O for a snack.

“I still have my demons internally that I’m still working through, and even though I have lost weight, I look in the mirror and see flaws,” she said.

“We all have things we secretly want to try, but we either don’t have the courage, don’t have anybody to do it with, or we can’t physically do it,” she said. “I always wanted to run a 5K but couldn’t walk a mile without dying. Now I love running! I don’t have to worry about breathing heavy after 30 seconds,” she further adds.

“I’ve been overweight my whole life. Never in a million years would I think I would be this active, let alone inspiring people to get active,” Evans said.

Evans has gotten a huge boost of confidence from losing the extra pounds.

“I want to go any and everywhere. Any reason to buy a new outfit and shop,” she said. “When you feel good on the outside, you feel good on the inside.”

And now a new and revamped Evans has big plans for her 32nd birthday. She wants to recreate some of those pictures from her miserable 30th and this time awesome for sure.

Remember that weird girl in school who never quite managed to fit in? Who was always silent and strange? That was me during my entire teenage life. A few years after finishing college (with a degree in arts) I decided that the best way to become more sociable, while also feeling safe, is to test my people skills online.

While promoting her latest album Words, the 46-year-old country singer spoke about the possibility of her teenage kids entering the music business. Her children—Audrey, 12, Olivia, 14, and Avery, 17—are from her first marriage with Craig Schelske (the couple divorced in 2007), and she doesn’t mind one bit if they follow in her musical footsteps.

“I think it would make me nervous if they didn’t want to do something weird with their lives,” Sara told People. “If they just wanted to be normal I would be like, ‘What? I’m not going to be able to relate to you!'”

The support and love of her children have influenced her work, as well. A track on her eighth studio album, “Letting You Go,” is dedicated to her son, Avery, who turns 18 this month. She even enlisted daughter Olivia to help her perform onLive With Kelly & Ryan.

“It’s unreal to me,” Sara told People in July. “Every parent will tell you when they get to that point in their child’s life — especially their firstborn — that you just sit there and go, ‘Where did the time go? How did we get here so fast?'”

Sara, who married radio show host Jay Barker in 2008, is also stepmom to Jay’s four children, Andrew, Braxton, Sarah Ashlee, and Harrison.

We can’t see what Sara’s doppelgänger children will be up to in the near future!

Sara Evans Admits She’s ‘Obsessed’

Sara Evans, who wed college football hero Jay Barker in July, opened up on Tuesday’s ‘Good Morning America’ about the end of her first marriage and the journey she took to find wedded bliss again.

Divorcing after 13 years amidst the public’s watchful eye — thanks in part to her competing on ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ which she ultimately left early to focus on her family — Evans chose to shy away from the media spotlight until recently. Now happily married with a blended family of seven children, she is now ready to speak openly about finding love again. But she refuses to speak poorly about the first husband she accused of cheating and having a pornography habit, amongst other accusations.

“I won’t talk about the divorce now because, you know, your children are gonna watch TV. They’re gonna read magazines,” she said. “The whole effort is to protect them because they’re already going through enough without the whole world .”

With that challenging chapter behind her, Evans is more than happy to discuss her deep love for her new husband.

The couple was introduced by the therapist they both used after their respective first marriages ended. Beginning with e-mails and phone calls, they soon graduated to their first date, playing softball. And while it may not have been the most romantic night, it was perfect for the two of them. Evans reports that it was at that game where she fell in love. Barker was equally smitten.

“I tell her all the time, she’s the greatest person I’ve ever met,” the former University of Alabama quarterback says. “All of a sudden we meet, and we fall instantly in love. And not only is she absolutely gorgeous, but her heart is better than any heart I’ve ever been around. She’s an amazing mom. She’s an amazing wife.”

Marrying after only eight months of dating, neither Evans nor Barker had any qualms about taking another trip down the aisle.

“I cannot believe that I get to share this with him, spend the rest of my life with him, be a stepmother to those amazing children. I mean, just all of it overwhelmed me,” Evans said. “I cannot believe I found this man who loves me better than I’ve ever been loved before in my whole life.”

With seven children in the house, Evans admits it can be a bit crazy, but she relishes every moment.

Sarah E. Evans is our new Fitness Gurls Athlete

First and foremost, welcome to Fitness Gurls as a sponsored athlete! Tell us about your journey to becoming a Fitness Gurl.
Well, for starters Thank you very much! I am very excited to be part of the Fitness Gurls Team as it was a dream of mine two years ago when I first found Fitness Gurls. Fast forward to this past February when I had the opportunity to shoot for FG for the Valentine’s Day feature. I would say the rest was history, it allowed me to have contact with them and be put on their radar.

You are an inspiration for mothers everywhere! What advice do you have for mothers trying to lose weight?
Take time for yourself. Many mom’s including myself, tend to not want to take away time or things from their children, but I believe if you do take that time to workout it will not only help you lose the weight but in turn you will have more energy for your family.

How did you find a passion for fitness in your busy life?
I guess the passion for fitness started once I saw the results that I was having and how I began to feel. I cannot explain the energy difference, I felt like a new woman!

How do you find time to work out?
I make my workout part of my daily schedule, just like brushing my teeth, every morning! My days can be unpredictable so I workout every morning after taking the kids to school. That way if something comes up in the afternoon I am not stressing trying to figure out how to get in a quick workout.

What does your workout week look like?
I workout at least five days a week and sometimes throw in an extra glutes or booty day on the weekend. I split up my muscle groups and do a large muscle group each day along with a smaller group. For example, I prefer to do shoulders and triceps on the same day (say on Monday) and I will repeat that later in the week.

Do you work out with your kids?
At the gym no, but there are some days where workouts must be done at home and then yes, if they want to take part I definitely love to include them. Even though my kids are young they are really interested in fitness, being active, and eating healthy as they see us as living examples.

Besides working out, what other active activities do you do?
A few other active activities that I enjoy include playing baseball with the family, golfing, swimming, and shopping is cardio right!?!
What motivates you to stay on track with your goals?
Being passionate about pursuing my dreams has helped me stay on track with my long term goals. In the beginning it was about losing the weight or fat and then certain dreams became reality which has lead me to pursue other dreams. Having a photo shoot, vacation, or special event helps me stay on point for my short term goals.

Your site is called Fit and Clean, when did you decide this was the lifestyle for you?
Hmm.. I would have to say after about 6 weeks of doing a 12 week plan. It was then I realized that it was something I wanted to continue and commit to the lifestyle rather than make it a crash diet phase.

What was your inspiration for becoming fit?
I didn’t have a specific person for inspiration at the time I started lifting, I just knew that I didn’t like how I felt or looked and knew I wanted to be a healthy example for our family. After having three kids I had lost self confidence in my body and did not want to see myself in the future saying that ” I never lost the baby weight.”

How many times did you try a diet or fitness routine until you found what worked for you?
Just once! The whole lifting and fitness thing was new to me when I started, since I had never lifted weights. I actually did some research online and found a lifting and nutrition program that many talked highly of and there were great results. I took a chance and decided to give it a go. That is the program that influenced me and made me fall in love with lifting and eating healthy, it worked for me.

Get to Know Sara Evans’ Husband, Jay Barker [Pictures]

For country star Sara Evans, giving love another chance with former University of Alabama football star Jay Barker really paid off! In 2007, Evans went through an extremely public and messy divorce with first husband Craig Schelske after fourteen years of marriage. Their union produced three beautiful children, Avery Jack (1999), Olivia Margaret (2003), and Audrey Elizabeth (2004).

Thanks to her Pastor Joe Beam, Sara was soon connected to Jay Barker, who was also a divorced dad with four children— Andrew (1999), Braxton (2000), and twins Sarah Ashlee and Harrison (2001). The two bonded over their shared experiences and got married on June 14, 2008 in Franklin, Tennessee.

So who is the man who swept Sara off of her feet over a decade ago? The Trussville, Alabama native is best known for his college football quarterback career under head coach Gene Stallings. Barker led his team to a national championship by defeating the #1 Miami Hurricanes in the 1993 Sugar Bowl. Despite being drafted into the NFL by the Green Bay Packers, he never got the chance to play in a regular season game. After the NFL didn’t pan out, he played in the Canadian Football League and the short-lived XFL. A career-ending concussion concluded his professional football career and he is now an analyst for ESPN Radio as well as an on-air personality for WJOX in Birmingham.

Sara Evans “I Could Not Ask For More”

“I Could Not Ask For More” Lyrics

Lying here with you
Listening to the rain
Smile just to see the smile upon your face
These are the moments I thank God that I’m alive
And these are the moments I’ll remember all my life
I’ve found all I’ve waited for
And I could not ask for more
Looking in your eyes
Seeing all I need
Everything you are is everything in me
These are the moments
I know heaven must exist
And these are the moments
I know all I need is this
I’ve found all I’ve waited for, yeah
And I could not ask for more
I could not ask for more than this time together
I could not ask for more than this time with you
And every prayer has been answered
Every dream I’ve had’s come true
Yeah, right here in this moment
Is right where I’m meant to be
Here with you here with me
Yeah
These are the moments I thank God that I’m alive
And these are the moments I’ll remember all my life
I’ve found all I’ve waited for
And I could not ask for more
I could not ask for more than this time together
I could not ask for more than this time with you
And every prayer has been answered
Every dream I’ve had’s come true
Yeah, right here in this moment
Is right where I’m meant to be
Oh, here with you here with me
No, I could not ask for more
Than this love you gave me
Cause it’s all I’ve waited for
And I could not ask for more
No, yeah
No, I could not ask for more
