Jennifer Lopez has revealed she wanted to do more strip scenes in Hustlers, her raunchy true crime movie about a group of strippers who con their Wall Street clientele.

Lopez told The Sun newspaper that it was “important” to show that her character Ramona was not just the leader of the pack but also the star of the club.

“Initially my big strip routine was not in the movie, but I thought it was important to show,” Lopez said. “You had to see she was the star of the club. I just had to be a big girl about it. The first time in the full costume — calling it that is a stretch — was very nerve-racking.”

Lopez, who is expected to receive a Golden Globe nomination for the role, said filming the strip routines made her feel “total terror” and “total happiness.”

“It’s the first time I really got the vulnerability, the feeling of being exposed,” she said. “But I pulled my G-string up and did what I had to do as an actress. This is my job, what I signed up for. I felt the empowerment and being in control of the room. There was a before and after that was drastic, from total terror to total happiness. It was hard, scary – but awesome.”

She also revealed that during shooting she thought, ” ‘F*** it. I’m gonna be uninhibited and unafraid every day’.”

To this end the 50-year-old mum of two made sure audiences were aware that she was actually doing the routines and not using a body double.

“When I went upside down (on the pole) I said, ‘Please get my face, I don’t care if I look like a bat hanging upside down, I want people to know there’s no doubles in this movie’.”

Lopez also dismissed rumours that she did and co-star Constance Wu did not get along.

“I love her. It was a special movie. I felt like there was a matchmaker at play. It was a safe place because we kind of let the love happen to us. We have to get pretty close (in the movie) so we had lots of conversations about butt-grabbing, asking ‘Are you OK?’ We had to get in a teasing mentality with each other.”

After wowing fans with a showstopping appearance at Milan Fashion Week on Sept. 20, Jennifer Lopez is giving a behind-the-scenes look at her unforgettable turn on the catwalk.

In a new video, the “Hustlers” star gives fans an inside look at the days leading up to her surprise appearance at the Spring 2020 Versace fashion show. She also shares some fun footage of the moments following her incredible walk down the runway.

As the video begins, the singer meets with Donatella Versace to discuss the designer’s vision for her appearance. Nearly 20 years ago, Lopez wore an iconic green Versace dress to the Grammy Awards, and the designer created an updated version of the gown for her latest collection.

While two decades have passed since Lopez first wore the original green dress, Versace says the 50-year-old has only gotten better with time: “Darling, your body is better now. I mean, it’s insane.”

“It’s called ‘Marry Me,'” Lopez says with a slight smirk.

“That’s appropriate,” Wintour says to the engaged star.

“Twenty years ago, I wore a certain dress and I kind of made a little bit of a splash, I would say, at that time,” she says, putting it mildly. “And right now we’re about to have another moment in Milan Fashion Week. That’s all I’m gonna say.”

  • At age 50, Jennifer Lopez just posted a nearly naked Instagram, showing off her toned body.
  • The photo was posted to promote J.Lo’s new Spanish-language single, “Baila Conmigo.”
  • J.Lo stays fit by working out regularly and eating a strictly healthy diet.

It’s kind of amazing that Jennifer Lopez bothers to wear clothes at all. I mean, have you seen the woman’s Hustlers intro? Well, in a new Instagram post, J.Lo is nearly naked, and people are freaking out.

The post features a still of Jennifer to promote her new Spanish-language single, “Baila Conmigo” (a.k.a. Dance with Me), and the singer, actress, all-around badass looks straight-up amazing, as only J.Lo can do. She’s working some kind of chain mail thingy with straps that criss-cross her back—aaaand that’s it.

Her legs, arms, and butt are bare, and damn, she looks fit AF. Oh, and the song sounds great, too.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, people freaked out in the comments. “How??” wrote one fan. “So gorgeous,” said another. And, of course, there were enough fire emojis to burn down all of Instagram.

While J.Lo no doubt has some great genes, she’s also been upfront about the fact that she works really, really hard for that toned body.

J.Lo regularly shares pics of herself on Instagram, getting her sweat on at the gym and while training for her role in Hustlers. And then there was that whole intense 10-day no carbs, no sugar challenge she and fiancé/ultimate gym buddy A-Rod did earlier this year.

Jennifer’s also super careful about what she puts in her body on the reg. She skips anything containing sugar and tries to avoid processed foods as much as she can. She also takes a pass on caffeine and alcohol, and instead loads up on protein, focusing on whole sources like egg whites, white meat turkey, chicken breast, grass-fed beef, salmon, or sea bass.

And that is how she can look super comfortable wearing next to nothing.

Is This the Most Naked J.Lo Has Ever Been?

Jennifer Lopez is a lot of things. As one of the harbingers of the multi-hyphenate superstar, she’s always done it all — and she’s done it all while baring a lot of skin. No matter what she’s doing, whether it’s dancing, singing, acting, judging, hosting, designing, or just being J.Lo, she’ll often do it wearing the most-naked naked dress possible and looking completely nonplused the entire time. In our new cover story, the dynamic diva is wearing a Valentino creation that shows off just about every one of those famous curves, but it’s just the latest dress in a long line of naked dresses. Here are the ones that made the biggest headlines.

The latest naked dress is actually Valentino Haute Couture cape. It’s certainly a statement-making option, but there’s something familiar about the color. For die-hard J.Lo fans, it’s reminiscent of her attention-grabbing Versace dress, which is often credited with the creation of Google Image search and vaulting her onto the A List.

Speaking of that dress: in 2000, Lopez walked the Grammy red carpet in this Versace gown, which seems tame in comparison to some of her more recent options.

In 2015, Lopez arrived at the Billboard Music Awards in a Charbel Zoe gown that was nothing more than a sheer body stocking and strategically placed crystals. It made for a showstopping look, especially since everyone wanted to know exactly where there was flesh and what was a nude underpinning.

Another Versace moment. Lopez wore a sheer gown to the Met Gala when she attended as Donatella’s guest. While many thought there was a huge cutout (aka a hole) in her dress, it was actually just part of the intricate design. She didn’t accessorize, since Donatella Versace is really all you need when you’re at an event, but she revealed to us that Kim Kardashian West used to wear a bracelet that read: “What would JLo do?” In this case, J.Lo would wear another naked dress.

When J.Lo finds a designer that can make gravity-defying gowns that show just the right amount of skin, she sticks to them. In 2014, she arrived at the MTV Video Music Awards in a silver Charbel Zoe gown that had crisscrossing straps that covered exactly what they needed to. Everything, from her pumps to her clutch, were matching and crystal-encrusted.

At last year’s Latin Billboard Awards, Lopez took her skin-baring in a different direction. A goth-tinged Julien Macdonald gown was intricate, involved, and very, very revealing. While it had long sleeves and grazed the red carpet, it was really just a feat of fashion engineering, with panels that covered the essentials and left nothing to the imagination. Every curve and contour was on full display and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

In 2015, J.Lo celebrated her birthday in what some sources called “the J.Lo-iest dress” of all time. Designer Bao Tranchi created the look, which has sheer panels, contoured cutouts and piping details. The signature J.Lo swagger? That’s not something you can buy or design — it’s all Lopez all the time.

Jennifer Lopez pushed for her Hustlers character to have a ‘big strip routine’, despite the original script not including one.

And we’re so glad she did.

The 50-year-old actress played Ramona Vega in the film – a fierce stripper who orchestrates a risky plan to get rich quick.

‘Initially, my big strip routine was not in the movie,’ JLo told The Sun. ‘But I thought it was important to show.

‘You had to see she was the star of the club.’

During the scene, Jenny came out on stage in a sequin coat and matching hat, then threw them to the side revealing a G-string, silver tasseled bikini.

She said she felt ‘total terror’ but ‘total happiness’ shooting the scene.

‘I just had to be a big girl about it,’ she explained. ‘The first time in the full costume — calling it that is a stretch — was very nerve-racking. It’s the first time I really got the vulnerability, the feeling of being exposed.’

‘But I pulled my G-string up and did what I had to do as an actress. This is my job, what I signed up for,’ she added.

And the results were absolutely amazing, if we do say so ourselves.

Hustlers costume designer Mitchell Travers spilled all of the beans on how the team came to use all of the costumes from the film, then let slip a little wardrobe malfunction on set.

On the iconic tasseled G-string scene, Mitchell revealed: ‘The first take of the first shot that we did of Jennifer coming out for her entrance, two of the strings popped off her body.

‘So I ran in with my team, there was about four of us stitching her back into this costume on the stage because we just knew it’s not something that we could risk and so we had to completely sew her into that bodysuit that you see on camera.’

He quipped: ‘There’s really not a ton of coverage so there’s more double stick tape involved in that movie probably more than any other movie.’

Jennifer is hotly tipped for a whole host of accolades in the upcoming awards season at the start of next year.

Jennifer Lopez shared a behind-the-scenes video of herself training to play a stripper in ‘Hustlers,’ and it shows that stripping is even harder than it looks

  • Jennifer Lopez shared a behind-the-scenes video that shows how she trained to be a stripper for her new movie, “Hustlers,” which hits theaters next Friday.
  • The actress plays a con artist and stripper in the movie, which is based on a 2015 New York magazine article called “The Hustlers at Scores” by Jessica Pressler.
  • The video walks fans through Lopez’s training, from practicing at home four months before production with the movie’s lead choreographer, Johanna Sapakie, to filming her big stripper scene in full costume.
  • “It’s different than anything I’ve ever done,” the 50-year-old entertainer said. “I was super nervous when I first walked out. I was like, ‘What am I doing with my life right now?'”

It may only be September, but at the Toronto Film Festival, Jennifer Lopez just claimed the sexiest movie scene of the year.

For the first 10 minutes of Lorene Scafaria’s Hustlers, audiences follow Constance Wu’s character, Destiny, as she struggles to make money dancing at a New York strip club. And then, as the opening piano chords of Fiona Apple’s “Criminal” crash onscreen, Lopez’s Ramona struts onstage, drops her full-length fur, and shows Destiny how it’s done.

In towering stilettos and a rhinestone G-string bodysuit so small that costume designer Mitchell Travers could stuff it in his pocket walking to set, Ramona crawls across the stage in a sequence choreographed by Johanna Sapakie, contorting her body around the pole and flipping herself into a gravity-defying inversion. She is hypnotic; the men watching respond by hurling dollar bills onstage.

But in Scafaria’s care, the scene is more than Jennifer Lopez just oozing sex: it’s a damning encapsulation of American values.

“When women are valued for their beauty or their bodies, whether that’s for sex or motherhood, and men are valued for their money and success and power…the trickle-down of both of those things is really dangerous,” the filmmaker told Vanity Fair in Toronto Friday. In her film, inspired by Jessica Pressler’s New York magazine feature, Ramona hatches a scheme to further capitalize on her sex appeal by flirting with men, slipping drugs into their drinks, and—when they’re just conscious enough to fork over their wallet and PIN numbers—maxing out their credit lines. In Hustlers, Ramona and Destiny aren’t exactly villains as much as single mothers struggling to succeed on an uneven playing field.

“I don’t fault anyone for working in that broken system,” said Scafaria. “I certainly don’t judge women for wanting to be beautiful or men for wanting to be successful. I just think, Well, what standards are those? It’s such a broken system for all of us I can’t help but have empathy for the men too. I don’t want to judge any gender or job in any way.… I would just like to see that really broken value system change, obviously. Not the club system, per se; I don’t judge the women in there, or the men who walk in. But I judge the culture that allows this to be it for us. That reinforces that men are worth that, and women are worth that.”

The film is set in 2007—but, troublingly, Scafaria still sees the same issues plaguing American culture. “The world keeps turning,” said the filmmaker. “We’re still somehow up against it…it still feels like I’m fighting for things my mom is fighting for. And that’s strange.”

Even though Scafaria wrote the script for Hustlers, and had directed two prior features—2012’s Seeking a Friend for the End of the World and 20`15’s The Meddler—she was not the first choice to direct the film itself. Martin Scorsese was sent her script, as was “everyone” else in Hollywood’s director pool, Scafaria joked. But she felt so strongly about the story that she told her agent, “I need to adapt this, even if it is just on paper.”

She held out hope, taking other writing jobs to pay her bills but refusing to sign on to another directorial project in case she would be permitted to carry Hustlers across the finish line. After creating mood boards and putting together a two-minute sizzle reel, Scafaria eventually convinced producers to give her the greenlight to direct. (In the film, Destiny has a recurring nightmare that she is in the back seat of a car she is not driving. Scafaria has also suffered from nightmares about not being in control—but, she told Vanity Fair, she “hasn’t had one in a while.”)

If you saw this season’s strip-club smash hit Hustlers, you might still be thinking about the scene in which seasoned dancer Ramona (Jennifer Lopez) wows newbie Destiny (Constance Wu), and the rest of the club, with an expert dance set to Fiona Apple’s 1997 hit “Criminal.”

Believe it or not, if it weren’t for J. Lo’s ingenuity, that instantly iconic scene might not have been in the movie at all. In a conversation with fellow actresses Scarlett Johansson, Lupita Nyong’o, Laura Dern, Awkwafina, and Renée Zellweger as part of the Hollywood Reporter’s Drama Actress Roundtable, Lopez shared that the memorable dance was actually her idea.

Lopez explained her process to the other actors, saying: “With Hustlers, this was the first time in a long time that I was actually terrified, really scared, to do that opening number, which I suggested, of course. It was my fault that I was there to begin with. It wasn’t written in the script. And I was like, no, she’s the big money-maker at the club—she has to show why. We can’t say it; we have to do it. I have to dance on the pole; I have to show them; I have to go there.”

Lopez served as a producer on the film, so it’s no surprise that she had input on the script, but in an industry where actresses have so often been coerced or simply forced to perform beyond their comfort levels, it’s exciting to see a leading lady call the shots.

Clearly, Lopez’s vision for her character paid off; Hustlers topped $100 million in profits worldwide in October, and Lopez’s performance is already generating Oscar buzz. It just goes to show what a Fiona Apple–scored striptease can do for a film.

Jennifer Lopez Revealed She Felt Insecure While Filming *That* ‘Hustlers’ Scene

If you caught Jennifer Lopez’s recent stroll down the runway in her “naked” Versace dress, her confident catwalk might have you thinking the performer rarely struggles with self-doubt. But even J. Lo is prone to insecurity; in fact, she recently opened up about experiencing it while shooting Hustlers. (Related: These Videos of Jennifer Lopez Pole Dancing Are Everything)

In an interview for CBS Sunday Morning, Lopez discussed how she felt while filming her famous pole-dancing scene as Ramona, her Hustlers character. If you saw the movie, you know Ramona oozes confidence during her iconic pole-dancing routine. But Lopez admitted she found the experience nerve-wracking.

“There’s always that kind of human fear of not wanting to expose yourself in a way that you haven’t done before, and that meant in this case not just emotionally but physically,” she told host Tony Dokoupil during the interview. (Related: Jennifer Lopez Just Showed Off Her Incredible Muscles—and We Can’t Even)

Lopez might make headlines for how fit she is at age 50, but she told Dokoupil she wasn’t 100 percent confident in her body while filming her pole-dancing number for Hustlers. She said that “even just as a woman, being insecure with your body” can mess with your head. Dokoupil interjected that it’s hard to imagine Lopez feeling that way. “Well, I worked really hard so I wouldn’t feel insecure, but I still felt very vulnerable,” she responded. “And when you go out on a set and there are 300 men there, whether they’re background actors or not, they’re still men, and you’re thinking ‘Oh my God, I’ve got to get up there in this outfit right now.'” (This isn’t the first time Jennifer Lopez has spoken out about self-esteem issues.)

Not only was Lopez working through insecurity while filming that scene, but she was also pulling off a tough physical feat. In a behind-the-scenes YouTube video shared back in September, the singer said that learning to pole dance “might be one of the hardest” things she’s ever done for a movie.

After a crash course, Lopez was capable of flipping upside down and staying on the pole for three minutes straight—a feat that even impressed her instructor.

To say the least, those Oscars nom predictions about J. Lo are seeming more justified by the day.

Jennifer Lopez admits risque scene in Hustlers made her edgy

Hustlers star Jennifer Lopez admitted she was nervous before filming a particularly suggestive scene in the movie.

Lopez stars alongside Constance Wu, Keke Palmer and Lili Reinhart in the comedy drama, which follows a group of strippers who resort to robbing their rich clients after falling on hard times following the 2008 financial crisis.

Rapper Cardi B and pop star Lizzo also feature in the film, which is based on a true story.

While Lopez has extensive dance experience thanks to her glittering career in pop music, she revealed it did not prepare her for the demands of pole dancing.

She spent nearly six months in training for Hustlers and even brought a portable pole with her on tour.

And she admitted one scene – in which she performs a provocative dance routine inside a packed strip club – left her anxious before the cameras started rolling.

“Before I did that scene I was super nervous. But also because of the vulnerability, going up there, all the guys were around the stage, we had about 300 extras in the club and it’s like, ‘okay, go up there and do your pole routine’. It’s like, ‘oh my God, take off your clothes and wear a thong’!”

In Hustlers 50-year-old Lopez plays veteran stripper Ramona Vega, who takes Wu’s new recruit Destiny, a struggling single mother, under her wing. Together, they make a fortune through ripping off rich clients – before their scheme starts to attract the unwanted police attention.

Julia Stiles stars as the journalist interviewing Wu’s character about the scam.

Lopez – who also is a producer on the film – said when working with other women she likes to “make sure everybody’s comfortable. I want them to know that our set is going to be comfortable, it’s going to feel good.”

Crazy Rich Asians actress Wu (37) was full of praise for her co-star.

“She’s caring for everybody . . . it’s just natural that a connection forms.”

Hustlers arrives in cinemas on September 13th.
