KATE Hudson has debuted a bold new buzz cut hairdo after ditching her trademark long blonde locks for her latest role.
The actress daughter of Goldie Hawn looked dramatically different on the LA set of a new project she’s working on with secretive musician Sia.

Kate, 38, was snapped in character with a shaved head on Tuesday, as she got to work on her new project, which has been shrouded in secrecy.
She was snapped meeting up with pop star Sia earlier this month but so far neither of them has actually revealed just what they’re working on.
Kate has teased a dancing element to whatever the project is, sharing a snap from a dance studio on July 13, showing her posing with teenage actress and dancer Maddie Ziegler.
She added the caption: “Dance rehearsal with this bundle of excellence.”
Kate was last seen with her long blonde locks on June 27, when she shared an Instagram snap celebrating her latest Fabletics fitness wear range.
In photos she’s posted since then, her hair has been obscured or cut out of the shot.

An image posted with son Bingham, six, three days ago, shows the Hollywood star lounging on a sun bed wearing her bikini.
She used an Instagram flower filter to give herself a head band, meaning her hair wasn’t visible in the snap.
Likewise, Kate’s photo with co-star Maddie was cropped to only show her face.

Appearing on Harry Connick Jr’s talk show, Kurt said: “I don’t know if I’m letting the cat out of the bag, deal’s not made or anything, but I think she’s gonna do this musical that Sia is going to direct.
“That sounds fantastic so I hope that happens.”

Kate Hudson’s Pre-Oscars’ “Shallow” Performance On Instagram Surprised Her Fans — VIDEO
The Academy Awards are on Sunday, and celebrities are preparing for the big event in all kinds of ways — including belting out an Oscar nominated song. Kate Hudson sang “Shallow” ahead of the Oscars, and her voice impressed quite a few fans. The actor showed off her singing skills on Instagram, posting a video of herself singing the beautiful A Star Is Born track while doing Pilates. The star seemed to be multitasking ahead of the big event (which her post notes she’ll be watching at home), getting in a workout and practicing hitting high notes. According to People, her longtime trainer Nicole Stuart coached her, and can be heard in the video asking if Hudson was focused. At one point in the video, Hudson said, “I think I hit the note!” Stuart responded, “Why don’t you hit the proper form, and then hit the note.”
Hudson posted the whole hilarious exchange on social media, captioning the video, “Gearing up for my in-living room Oscar performance… apologies to @ladygaga and @iammarkronson for the lyrics” with a music note emoji. She also included several funny hashtags, writing, “#mommybrain #WasIINTheRightKey? #IReallyWasFocused #SometimesYouJustNeedToBeltItOut.” “Shallow” is nominated for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards, and the song and workout combo was an appropriate way for Hudson to kick off the day.
Hudson’s trainer also shared the funny video to her own Instagram page, writing, “Just another normal #friday #pilates session with the #multitalentedmultitasker (say that 3 times fast) @katehudson. I love how my life never gets dull!”
In the comments on Hudson’s page, many people were shocked by the actor’s secret singing talent. Katy Perry wrote, “let me produce ur debut record.” Hilary Swank commented, “Omg! I thought that was Lady Gaga singing while you did Pilates but it was YOU! Insane voice, gurl!!! You should absolutely be singing…but not only at Pilates, make an album!!” Many other celebs loved the funny video as well, with Hailey Baldwin writing, “didn’t think it was possible for me to be more of a fan, and yet here we are…” and Reese Witherspoon also chimed in, commenting “The lyrics” with the laughing and crying emoji.
Even though she seems to be planning to watch the awards from home, the actor shared more pre-Oscar updates on social media. Hudson shared a photo in an old-fashioned car with her mother Goldie Hawn on Instagram. In the photo, both stars are still wearing workout clothes and wave for the camera. The photo was captioned, “It’s not what you wear, it’s how you wear it! Oscar drop off @officialgoldiehawn #Hoodiefashion #Coolestdriverintown”.
It’s been an eventful year for the star, who welcomed her third child Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa in October, as reported by ET Online. The actor has two other kids — a 15-year-old son named Ryder and 7-year-old son Bingham. Rani is her first child with boyfriend Danny Fujikawa. The star announced her daughter’s birth on Instagram writing, “Everyone is doing well and happy as can be. Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back.”
It seems like the Oscars are going to be a night in with the family for Hudson, and it’s no secret what part of the awards she will be most looking forward to. When it comes time for Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper to perform their duet of “Shallow”, Hudson, like many A Star Is Born fans, will be singing along at home.
Getty Images Though Kate Hudson temporarily traded blond for brown when filming The Killer Inside Me, the ELLE November cover girl has made her mark as an iconic Hollywood blond. But while she might pull off platinum effortlessly these days, her longtime colorist, Sharon Dorram (co-founder of Sharon Dorram Color at Sally Hershberger), says this wasn’t always the case. “When Kate first sat in my chair she was only 18 and not yet well-known,” says Dorram. “Her color at the time wasn’t great. I remember she came in with highlights that were white and stripy.” Here, Dorram reveals her best hair color tips—and how she took Hudson’s hue from ordinary to extraordinary.
How did you fix Hudson’s initial highlights?
I made them more baby-blond and added lowlights. When hair color is too stripy I tend to paint in a lowlight to break it up—I always believe that the darker tone in someone’s color is just as important as the highlight.
How has Hudson’s hair color evolved through the years?
Her natural color is between a dark blond and light brown. We’ve gradually lifted her base color and highlighted over it so that it’s a tone-on-tone blond with lighter pieces around the face and crown.
When she filmed The Killer Inside Me last year, how did you transition her from a blond to brunette?
We did it all in one go—I used a semipermanent rinse to take her darker. It was a soft coconut-brown. I tried not to have any red in it because red can be harsh and it fades faster.
When people are considering becoming a redhead or blond is there anything they should consider?
It’s tricky to give a one-set prescription for everyone but in general, someone with olive skin shouldn’t go really blond because it will wash out their complexion. And those who have pink in their skin shouldn’t dye their hair super-red because it will enhance that. Also, blond hair that’s too golden can make people with gold in their skin look orange. My advice is to never do big changes. Always take baby steps because it’s easier to do more rather than undo. Try on a wig first and make sure you like the color.
How would you describe Hudson’s natural skin tone?
She has more of a golden complexion so she can wear her hair really blond and fair and it looks good on her. She can also go brunette and carry it off but in my opinion it’s not as eye-catching. Blond suits her skin tone and personality better—she’s very fun and down-to-earth. She’s a smart blond!
What’s her natural hair texture, and does hair texture affect the type of color you’ll achieve?
Kate has medium hair texture with a natural wave. If someone has really thin hair, it will turn blonder faster so you have to be careful. But if hair is thicker and coarser you’ll have to leave the lightener on for longer in order to get the optimal blond.
When you color your hair, it become drier—any advice for combating the additional dry winter air?
I always tell people to sleep with a humidifier. It helps moisturize both your hair and skin. You can also do treatments with masks or oils. Kérastase Chronologiste is really good. I also like to use vitamin E oil packs on the hair. You can get them at a health food store and they’re fantastic—I’ve been using them on clients for years. You just add the vitamin E oil into your conditioner and massage it into your strands. Wrap your head in a hot towel and leave the treatment on for a couple hours before shampooing it out.
Any hair color trend forecasts for this season and next?
Although there will be a continuation of ombré, we’ll start seeing extreme solid colors as well—platinum-blond and dark chocolate brown. But that’s the trend; there will always be demand. I do hair color and highlights tailored to the individual.
Is Kate Hudson’s Lob Real? The Actor Is Sporting Her Long, Blonde Locks Again
Kate Hudson has been the poster child for blonde beach waves for most of her career, always walking red carpets with back-skimming hair. That all changed in 2017, when Hudson cut off her locks for a movie role that called for a buzz cut. Now Hudson grew out her blonde hair, and is back to sporting shoulder-length hair.
From Almost Famous to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Hudson has sported the same iconic hairstyle. Hudson’s blonde hair fell in loose waves down her back, giving off a free-spirited, beachy vibe that became synonymous with the actress. But in 2017, Hudson decided to cut it all off and sport a crew cut for her role in the movie Music. Written and directed by the artist Sia, Music is a musical film that tells the story of a sober drug dealer and her autistic sister. Hudson plays the recovering drug dealer, and she first unveiled her freshly cut hair in an Instagram post in July 2017.
Hudson was on set in the photo, and she was sitting in a kitchen chair and looking out the window. The sun hit her shaved hair, highlighting her short blonde locks. In the caption Hudson wrote, “Freedom.”
It has been a year and a half since she got rid of her length, and Hudson has been growing out her crew cut since. While fans got to see her move from a pixie to an ear-skimming bob while on the red carpet, Hudson’s newest Instagram post has her hair back to its usual length.
On March 13, Hudson posted a mirror selfie onto Instagram. In it she’s sitting on her bed with a white bohemian dress from designer Zimmermann, and her blonde hair is styled in piecey waves that go past her shoulders. In the caption Hudson wrote, “I got hair!”
Seeing how the actress still has a shoulder skimming bob, these new locks are courtesy of extensions. Hudson tagged the celebrity hairstylist Gregory Russell in the post, crediting him with the loose, long waves. If you take a scroll through Russell’s Instagram, then you will see he works with all kinds of A-listers in Hollywood. From styling Kim Kardashian’s platinum bob, to working with both Lily Collins and Chloe Grace Moretz for a slew of their media appearances, Russell has a long list of celebs in his appointment book.
Judging by the people that Hudson tagged in her post — from makeup artists to stylists — this probably isn’t a hairstyle she did for fun. Chances are this is for a photo shoot or campaign, so these long extensions are probably a temporary addition.
The extensions added at least three inches to Hudson’s natural length. This becomes apparent when you compare a recent photo of the actress.
On Feb. 28, Hudson attended The Women’s Cancer Research Fund in L.A., and she sported a chin-grazing bob.

Hudson’s hair was set in curls so her natural length sits somewhere just above her shoulders. Hudson still probably has another year until her hair goes past her shoulders, but the extensions are a fun way to revisit the iconic length she is so well known for. Whether she sports a lob or back-skimming waves, Hudson looks amazing either way.

- Kate Hudson is growing out her brunette buzzcut and it looks amazing.
- She showed off her shorter hair while walking the red carpet this weekend.
- Hudson told Ellen Degeneres that short hair is not as low-maintenance as she expected.
- She also joked that she’s planning on bringing mullets back.
Although the lob may be the hairstyle of the moment, Kate Hudson is proving that a buzzcut can look just as chic and trendy.
The actress stepped out this weekend with her buzzcut slightly grown-out — which we first spotted on PopSugar — and proved that she doesn’t need her signature long locks to look as stunning as ever.

Though she looks amazing, Hudson revealed during a recent appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show that shorter hair isn’t as low-maintenance as it seems.
“I’m starting to handle the first awkward stage of the growing out,” she told Degeneres. “There are pieces sticking up and I have to put it down with product.”
Short hair definitely suits her. Splash News
It looks like she’s finally made it through that “awkward phase” and figured out a way to give it a sophisticated look that suits her face perfectly.
She also doesn’t seem too worried about what her boyfriend, Danny Fujikawa, thinks of her new look. When DeGeneres commented that “some guys don’t like women with short hair,” Hudson fired back with “I hope our relationship can transcend hair.”
Though her hair is still relatively short, it’s come a long way from the super-close shave we saw back in July when Hudson uploaded this sneak peek of her upcoming film project with singer Sia.

As for what’s next for the “Mother’s Day” actress, she has a rather surprising plan to bring back a retro style.
“I was thinking of bringing the mullet back,” Hudson told Degeneres. While it’s hard to imagine the glamorous actress with a mullet, we’re sure she could somehow make it look fantastic.
