Even four years after her most recent pregnancy, Kim Kardashian can still remember how tough the critics were about her weight gain, and she opened up about it to the ‘Wall Street Journal.’

Kim Kardashian has been open about the 60-70 pounds she gained during her pregnancies with North West and Saint West, and she admits that it’s still something that haunts her. “It changed my body, my skin,” she told Wall Street Journal in a new interview. “ photographed from every angle. All I have to do is Kim Kardashian and Shamu. That really changed my security. It broke my soul for a while.” In addition to the weight gain, Kim also suffered from pregnancy complications and placenta accreta, so she had her next two kids, Chicago and Psalm, via surrogate.

In her Wall Street Journal interview, Kim opened up about her new ‘soultionwear’ line, which she recently had to delay the release of after facing backlash for the name, Kimono, which people thought was insensitive since it’s already the name of a traditional Japanese garment. “You would think we would have obviously thought it through a little bit deeper,” Kim admitted. “I’m the first person to say, okay, of course, I can’t believe we didn’t think of this. I obviously had really innocent intentions. But, let’s listen. And I really want to listen. And I really want to take it all in.” Now, she and her team are working on coming up with a new name for the products.

She also added that she “takes responsibility” and wants to “do the right thing” because of her high-profile status. “I do realize that there might be more eyes on me and my brand,” she explained. “And so I have to tune it out and really learn and really grow and have to realize that maybe there is a different standard.”

At the end of the day, Kim just wanted to create an inclusive and diverse shapewear line, with prices for the pieces ranging between $22 and $98. The reality star explained that she wears shapewear “all the time,” but hasn’t been able to find a brand that helps boost the body parts that she wants boosted. “I wanted to branch off and do my thing,” she said. “I’m like…ok! Everyone neds this! underwear, bras — this is what people wear every day.”

But now that she’s thought to be around six months pregnant with boyfriend Travis Scott’s baby, she’s said to be concerned about the similarities.

And she’s said to be worried about gaining five stone in pregnancy – just like her sister Kim when she was expecting North and Saint.

Kim gained around 50lb during her first pregnancy and about 65lb when expecting her son Saint.

“I was so jealous of women who had these cute little baby bellies and would gain 25 pounds — and then, a few weeks after giving birth, somehow look exactly like they did before they were pregnant, lol. That’s not me,” she explained on her blog last year.

And Kylie is said to be worried that she’ll be the same.

“Her big fear is that she’s going to ‘balloon’ like Kim did when she gained over 70lbs,” a source told Heat .

“She’s never been a fan of the gym and could never keep up with Khloe and Kim’s crazy workout regimes.

“She’s shocked by the amount of weight she’s gaining, as she’d always managed to remain quite slim without much effort.”

And while she’s worried about her weight she’s said to be “giving in to her cravings” of deliveries from American takeout favourites Taco Bell and Hot Dog On A Stick.

Meanwhile, she’s still yet to publicly confirm her rumoured pregnancy, but that hasn’t stopped Kylie Jenner from dropping a steady stream of hints to fuel the speculation.

It had previously been reported that the make-up mogul was expecting a baby girl – and Kylie has done little to dispel the rumours.

Taking to social media on Friday, the 20-year-old shared a number of photos that all had a pink theme, including a room that featured a pink chair and a pink Christmas tree.

“Shooting holiday videos @kyliecosmetics,” she wrote.

Then came a photo showing a row of handbags, including a number of pink ones that she called “the babies”.

Fans are convinced this is confirmation. One tweeted: “Kylie Jenner is most definitely having a girl. She has been posting so much pink stuff.”

Another wrote: “Is it just me or is Kylie Jenner flaunting the pink? Pink nails, pink hair??? She’s defo having a girl considering they run in the fam.”

It comes after her fans demanded to know if she was pregnant or not after the star addressed the baby rumours for the first time, though she didn’t deny or confirm them.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star took to Twitter to accuse paparazzi of ‘altering’ her images to make her look pregnant.

But although she was clearly upset that her image was ‘photoshopped’ she failed to address whether baby rumours are true.

The star had earlier taken to Twitter to call out media outlets that circulated pictures of her wearing a loose black tracksuit and displaying her “baby bump”.

She tweeted: “First of all if you’re going to photoshop my photos blogs/paps!! Check for the crooked lines in the background. 2nd photo is clearly altered.”

Kylie pointed out wonky lines in the background of the shot that suggest the photos might have been digitally remastered.

Kim Kardashian‘s trainer Melissa Alcantara has a few tips on getting back in shape after giving birth.

The former bodybuilder — who previously revealed to PEOPLE that she gained 70 lbs. when pregnant with her daughter Isabella, now 6 — shared her wisdom about how to reduce stretch marks and tighten up loose belly skin post pregnancy in an illuminating social media post.

“This is a topic I get asked about all the time,” she wrote before launching into her first tip.

“Don’t go on a fad diet and lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks,” she began, explaining that losing weight gradually, “½-1 lb. per week” actually reduces your risk of developing stretch marks.

She also advised to “stop yo-yo dieting,” adding that getting trapped in a cycle of gaining and than losing weight “is terrible not only on your hormones but on the elasticity of your skin.”

Alcantara also told her followers to make sure to drink plenty of water. “Drink 90oz-1 gallon of water a day,” she wrote. “Really helps keep the skin moisturized and elastic.”

In terms of actual workouts, Alcantara suggests “weight or resistance training.”

“Building muscle fills out the skin and gives roundness and fullness to your physique,” she explained.

Finally, Alcantara shared that one of the best tips she could share was simply to “be patient.”

“It took me a long effing time to get my skin to come remotely close to what I had pre-pregnancy,” she wrote. “So do all of the above every single day and just chill.”

Alcantara previously gave PEOPLE the rundown of how she began working for the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star in the first place.

“They were like, ‘Are you available to train Kim on Monday?’” the former bodybuilder explained. “I was like, ‘Of course I’m available!’ And it went from there.”

Within days, Alcantara met Kardashian and the pair hit it off. Soon Alcantara was relocating to Los Angeles where she began training Kardashian full time, putting the reality star on a weight training program and a diet of healthy whole foods.

“Kim told me, ‘I love my body. I love the way it looks and I love my hips,’” said Alcantara. “She just wanted more muscle. She wanted bigger hamstrings, which accentuates the entire leg. And she wants those cut arms and abs!”

These days Alcantara heads to Kim’s home six days a week at 6 a.m. for workouts focusing on specific body parts: shoulders, biceps/triceps, and chest/back, as well as three days devoted to legs. They also do cardio — either short bursts of high intensity, or longer, low-intensity walks.

When it comes to nutrition, Alcantara works with Kardashian’s team of chefs, sending recipes and meal plans to ensure that the star is eating a balanced amount of proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

A typical day might feature Alcantara’s blueberry oatmeal pancakes for breakfast (“Kim loves them!”); chicken, sweet potatoes and veggies for lunch; and fish and veggies for dinner. “Kim told me the other day, ‘This is the most vegetables I’ve ever eaten!’ ”

The condition means that another pregnancy for the Selfish author could be life-threatening.

Placenta accreta is a serious pregnancy condition that occurs when blood vessels and other parts of the placenta grow too deeply into the uterine wall, according to the Mayo Clinic.

The placenta typically detaches from the uterine wall after childbirth. With placenta accreta, part of the placenta remains firmly attached. This can cause severe blood loss after delivery.

The condition is considered a high-risk pregnancy complication.

“My doctor had to stick his entire arm in me and detach the placenta with his hand, scraping it away from my uterus with his fingernails. How disgusting and painful!!!” Kardashian wrote in her blog about giving birth to her first child, North, while dealing with the condition.

“My mom was crying; she had never seen anything like this before. My delivery was fairly easy, but then going through that — it was the most painful experience of my life! They gave me a second epidural but we were racing against time so I just had to deal.”

She also suffered from preeclampsia with her first pregnancies. According to the Mayo Clinic, preeclampsia is a pregnancy complication characterized by high blood pressure and signs of damage to other organs, most often the liver and kidneys. It usually begins after 20 weeks of pregnancy in women whose blood pressure had previously been normal.

If preeclampsia is left untreated, it can lead to serious or even fatal complications for both the baby and the mother.

Kim Kardashian West tweeted a new image of her baby boy Monday — one month after she and husband Kanye West announced his birth.

The reality star posted the image of little Psalm’s face on her social media accounts with the caption, “Psalm Ye,” which caused some fans to speculate if the child’s middle name was “Ye.” Kanye’s eighth album was titled “Ye” and it is one of his nicknames, so if it is the child’s middle name, it would appear to be a nod to Psalm’s father.

Kardashian West posted the first image of her child, along with a text exchange from her husband, about a week after she announced he was born via surrogate. “Beautiful Mother’s Day with the arrival of our fourth child,” Kanye West texted her with the photo. “We are blessed beyond measure. We have everything we need.” She also revealed the baby’s name as Psalm West in the May 17 posts.

The new baby joins Kardashian West’s three other children: 5-year-old North, 3-year-old Saint and 1-year-old Chicago. Psalm is the couple’s second child via surrogate. Kardashian West has regularly spoken about needing to use a surrogate, due to suffering preeclampsia during her first two pregnancies.

“You know, it is really different. Anyone that says or thinks it is just the easy way out is just completely wrong. I think it is so much harder to go through it this way because you are not really in control,” Kardashian West said, according to Entertainment Tonight in November 2017. “And, you know, obviously you pick someone that you completely trust and that you have a good bond and relationship with, but it is still … knowing that I was able to carry my first two babies and not, you know, my baby now, it’s hard for me. So, it’s definitely a harder experience than I anticipated just in the control area.”

Kardashian West has been very busy lately. She recently helped free 17 people from jail in three months and revealed she was studying to take the bar exam and become a lawyer.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star told E! News that she dropped the weight by weightlifting and cutting out sugar.

“I work out about an hour-and-a-half every single day, heavy weights. I don’t do a lot of cardio. But honestly, like even my mom pulled me aside maybe a week ago and pulls me in a closet and is like, ‘What are you doing?’ She says, ‘I don’t care what, I just need to know.’ I’ve been working out really hardcore with a bodybuilder for one year. September is our one-year anniversary,” said the 37-year-old. “I’ve lost 20 pounds and I’m really proud of that. I was almost 140 forever and now I’m like 116 and it just feels good. I didn’t see results right away, but when you stick with something and you’re consistent, you will. So, I love it.”

Now, before we unpack this with the help of nutrition experts, let’s reiterate that Kim looks incredible — and she looked incredible before, too. It’s just that strictly talking about weight in numbers is problematic for a few reasons.

Nutritionist Dana James tells The Feast that Kim can boast about her number if it’s a number that makes her feel good. But, she says, keep in mind that Kim “has a responsibility to explain that, at 5 foot 3, 116 pounds may be appropriate for her, but that does not mean that 116 pounds is what other women should aim for.”

The Feast also spoke to Nikki Ostrower, founder and nutritionist at NAO Wellness in New York City, about basing your entire image — and where you score on the health chart — strictly on the scale.

“The issue with basing your health on your weight in numbers is that an average scale doesn’t know the difference between you and a sack of potatoes,” Ostrower says. “As in, it’s not measuring how much of that weight is fat versus muscle versus bone versus water weight, et cetera. So it’s not a great indicator of overall health and can give you the wrong impression.”

As most know, muscle weighs more than fat. So say you’re trimming up your waistline with your diet and exercise, but your weight has increased a little due to muscle gain. Ostrower says, “that’s a great thing.”

She adds, “Muscle helps burn fat.”

“Also, both women and men fluctuate in weight by number naturally throughout the day, and women throughout the month,” she says. “If you are ever weighing yourself just for basic data and tracking, get a quality scale that can measure all of the above including muscle percentage, and only weigh yourself once a week in the morning, same time of day .”

She goes on to advise that anyone with an eating disorder or body image issues should “ditch the scale” as a rule.

“If it’s stressing you out mentally, it’s not your best tool,” Ostrower says. “I ditched the scale years ago and feel so much healthier mentally and physically. If my clothing fits and I’m happy, I’m doing great.”

For women who like tracking weight by the number, Nikki says she only recommends you weigh yourself in the first two weeks of your menstrual cycle (the follicular phase and ovulatory phase), when you “naturally feel your best.”

“Avoid weighing closer to your period. Be nice to yourself,” she adds. “There’s natural weight fluctuation due to hormonal fluctuations during that time of the month. Don’t worry yourself. If, however, you are feeling excessive bloat or feelings of weight gain or major water retention pre-period, it’s time to speak to a nutritionist to help with your hormonal health. That’s not the time to start calorie restricting nor pushing harder at the gym.”

Overall, Ostrower says no one should base their idea of “health” on weight at all. Instead, she says, keep track of the following:

Are you pooping at least once a day comfortably?

Are you drinking enough water?

How’s your energy and zest for life?

How’s your brain function, mental clarity, and spirt?

How do your favorite pair of jeans feel?

Are you highly stressed?

How’s your hormonal health — as in, do you experience a ton of PMS or have an easy going cycle and period each month?

“Those questions, amongst others, are telling us how your health and functionality are,” she says. “Not a number on the scale.”

Kim Kardashian caught a lot of flak last month when her famous sisters praised her 119lb figure, complimenting the 37-year-old with “dangerous” language by telling her, “I don’t think you’re eating,” and that she looks anorexic.

Social media and celebrities alike latched on to the moment, highlighting the issue with using such words and phrasing in a complimentary fashion.

Well, apparently the fallout did not affect Kardashian much, because she appears to be back to bragging about her weight — apparently she’s lost a few pounds since we last checked in.

Kim revealed to E! News that she’s been working with a bodybuilder for the past year, focusing on muscle work instead of cardio.

According to People, a regular day in the diet of Miss Kardashian includes meals like “blueberry oatmeal pancakes for breakfast; chicken, sweet potatoes and veggies for lunch; and fish and veggies for dinner.”

In addition to changing how you eat, dropping sugar from your diet, and keeping up with the Kardashians at the gym, make sure to start monitoring your water intake. This single step might be the one to tip the scales in your favor when it comes to shedding those love handles.

Kim Kardashian Is Back to Her Pre-Baby Weight—Here’s How

If you follow Kim K on Snapchat (guilty as charged), you know girl has been documenting her weight loss progress and posting photos of her standing on the scale religiously. Mildly obnoxious, yes, but it’s clearly kept her majorly accountable. Since giving birth to Saint in December, Kim has been slowly but surely creeping back to her pre-baby weight. In early May, just before the Met Gala, Kim shared the below Snap, clearly stoked on her progress (Kim has previously shared that she gained about 60 pounds during her pregnancy):

And then, about two weeks later, she shared the following snap, showing that finally she reached her pre-baby weight with the caption, “Yaaaassssss!!!! #Atkins”

Kim has kept the weight loss progress going, sharing this week that she has 12 pounds to go to reach “2010 Kim”-before she had either of her children.

Since then, she’s continued to post snaps of her progress towards her apparent goal weight of 120 pounds. (Her latest is 131.4, in case anyone wants the ounce-by-ounce update.) Although some have accused the star of setting unrealistic weight loss expectations, she’s losing about two pounds per week, which experts say is healthy.

So how has she done it? Well, it’s no secret she’s been on the Atkins diet (she followed the diet after giving birth to North and is also an ambassador for the brand) meaning she’s on a high-protein, low-carb diet plan. She consumes about 1,800 calories per day, which breaks down into about four to six ounces of protein, four ounces of cheese, eight to 10 servings of veggies, and two tablespoons of added fat per day, her nutritionist, Colette Heimowitz, VP of nutrition and education at Atkins told Redbook. “I definitely feel good to a place where I feel comfortable again and things are starting to fit,” Kim told reporters back in April. “This time I think weight has come off quicker than last time because I kind of learned how to eat better. Last time, I worked out a little bit harder. This time I’m eating differently.”

And as her Snapchat followers can attest, she’s definitely putting in the hard work when it comes to her fitness routine, getting up early to do sprinting drills with her trainer and even going for runs with Kanye.

While we can’t say we’re thrilled about making Snapchatting your weight the new social media trend, it’s clearly keeping her motivated to make healthy choices and reach her goals. Plus, it beats seeing another duck face selfie taken with a LuMee iPhone case.

Kim Kardashian Is ‘Really Proud’ of Her 20-Lb. Weight Loss: ‘I’m 116 Lbs. and It Just Feels Good’

Kim Kardashian West has dropped 20 lbs. — and she’s feeling “really proud.”

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star revealed in an interview with E! News that aired Wednesday that she’s lost 20 lbs. and also shared the ways that she achieved her fit physique.

“I work out about an hour-and-a-half every single day, heavy weights. I don’t do a lot of cardio. But honestly, like even my mom pulled me aside maybe a week ago and pulls me in a closet and is like, ‘What are you doing?’ She says, ‘I don’t care what, I just need to know.’ I’ve been working out really hardcore with a bodybuilder for one year. September is our one-year anniversary,” 37-year-old Kardashian West shared.

“I’ve lost 20 pounds and I’m really proud of that. I was almost 140 forever and now I’m like 116 and it just feels good,” she continued. “I didn’t see results right away, but when you stick with something and you’re consistent, you will. So, I love it.”

Kardashian West, who frequently shares snapshots on social media from her time in the gym, has also changed up her diet, including cutting back on the amount of sugar she consumes.

“I don’t really eat sugar the way that I used to. It doesn’t really do it for me,” she said.

The Kimoji creator — she shares daughters North, 5, and Chicago, 8 months, and son Saint, 2, with husband Kanye West — also admitted that what she eats is nowadays “a lot healthier.”

“I’ve kind of been trained to just eat a lot healthier than I used to. I used to just eat anything and everything and I loved it,” she said. “And so I really do control that now. … I don’t want to ruin it by just stuffing my face.”

But she does have one sweet indulgence: “I love Häagen-Dazs ice cream. That’s like my one go-to.”

Earlier this year, the mother of three’s trainer, former bodybuilder Melissa Alcantara, shared the reality star’s “bodybuilding” diet and exercise routine with PEOPLE.

“Kim told me, ‘I love my body. I love the way it looks and I love my hips,’” said Alcantara. “She just wanted more muscle. She wanted bigger hamstrings, which accentuates the entire leg. And she wants those cut arms and abs!”

These days Alcantara heads to Kardashian West’s home six days a week at 6 a.m. for workouts focusing on specific body parts: shoulders, biceps/triceps, and chest/back, as well as three days devoted to legs. They also do cardio — either short bursts of high intensity, or longer, low-intensity walks.

“She loves and hates leg days,” said Alcantara. “But she’s committed! She knows what it takes, but it’s also really grueling. It’s heavy, it’s killer, but she’ll be like, ‘Alright, let’s do it!’ She’s a workhorse.”

Added the trainer: “Kim has been getting some really nice results, like with her triceps! She can’t believe how much has changed over the last few months. And when you’re in this deep, it’s hard to go back. She just keeps it up. She’s focused and she has a goal in mind.”

When it comes to nutrition, Alcantara works with Kardashian West’s team of chefs, sending recipes and meal plans to ensure that the star is eating a balanced amount of proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

A typical day might feature Alcantara’s blueberry oatmeal pancakes for breakfast (“Kim loves them!”); chicken, sweet potatoes and veggies for lunch; and fish and veggies for dinner. “Kim told me the other day, ‘This is the most vegetables I’ve ever eaten!’ ”

Processed foods are off-limits, so no crackers or cookies. Said Alcantara: “I want her to eat real food that’s cooked every day. Most likely if it comes out of a box, it’s not going to be good for you. She’s eating well and she feels good.”

Kim Kardashian’s Post-Pregnancy Weight Loss Is Not ‘Reality’

Now here’s some news that you were probably waiting on pins and needles to hear: five months after giving birth to her son, Kim Kardashian has reached her weight loss goal of 135 pounds. Now the world can finally return to to dealing with other less important things such as global warming, the Zika epidemic and the global obesity crisis. On a Snapchat photo of herself on a scale, she posted the following: “Yaasssssss!!!! #aktins.”

Now, I don’t know who “Aktins” is, but perhaps she is referring to the Atkins Diet, popularized by the late Dr. Robert Atkins, which is higher in protein and fat and very low in carbohydrates. The diet was previously among the most popular diets and still has a number of followers. It is also quite controversial, as many physicians and nutrition experts have raised concerns about the health risks of a diet so rich in protein and fat, such as heart disease and cancer. Although it is not clear how effective the Atkins diet is over the longer term (i.e., how much weight is regained over time), studies have shown that the Atkins Diet can result in initial weight loss. Kardashian seems to be crediting the Atkins Diet for her weight loss.

However, here are some things to keep in mind. You are not Kim Kardashian. (Unless, of course, you happen to be Kim Kardashian.) You don’t know what really happens off-camera, off-Twitter, off-Snapchat, off-Instagram, off-Facebook, and off-(fill in social media outlet here). Celebrities like Kardashian often have a team of nutritionists, chefs and trainers helping them lose weight, so who knows how much of her weight loss is actually due to the Atkins diet…or the “Aktins” diet. Also, going on a diet can mean that you do not get the balanced diet and nutrients that your body needs to recover from pregnancy. And breastfeeding only increases your nutritional requirements, requiring another 400 to 500 calories a day. Remember too that what you eat can affect your breast milk content and taste and consequently your child. For instance, alcohol, mercury in fish, caffeine and pesticides on fruits and vegetables could make their way to your breast milk. Moreover, pressuring yourself to lose weight may cause you and your child stress, which can in turn have consequences.

A balanced diet means healthy amounts of protein, fats and carbohydrates. It also means eating foods with a variety of minerals and vitamins, drinking plenty of fluids and not skipping meals. Moreover, pregnancy and the birthing process can have effects that certain foods can help remedy. For example, if you lost a lot of blood during delivery, you may need iron-rich foods such as beef, oysters, tofu, beans, oatmeal, figs, spinach, chard or watermelon to replenish your iron stores. Or if you have constipation (e.g., from medications during birth), then you could benefit from plenty of fiber in your diet.

While losing weight quickly may seem nice, unless your career depends on your regaining a bikini body or you have an unreasonable significant other…why rush it? Yes, some women seem to magically snap back to their pre-pregnancy weight within months. And some women are also able to throw a shot put in the Olympics or derive complex mathematical equations. Just because some people can do something easily does not mean you should also. The first six weeks after giving birth is about rest and recovery. After that, you can aim to gradually lose weight (1-2 pounds per week is often recommended). Many women take six months to a year to lose pregnancy weight. Getting enough sleep can help. (I know…you are saying “ha, ha” about sleeping when you have an infant, but try.) Exercise is important. But ramp up your physical activity slowly and carefully. Start with walking. (You may want to refrain from tackle football or mixed martial arts.) And see your doctor for medical guidance…not Snapchat.

Therefore, keep in mind that even though she is a “reality” star, Kardashian’s weight loss is not reality…or at least most people’s reality. Without this context, such celebrity news can create undue pressure to lose weight too quickly and unhealthily…which could lead to a bad reality for you and your child.
