I have a tiny waist, which is smaller than a size 27 so i always need to have the waist tailored.I also wear stretch jeans, because my booty just gets flattened in any jean that has no stretch and just doesn’t fit into non stretch jeans. I usually wear Serfonatine or JBrand, those fit the best! In those certain brands, on a good day I even fit into a size 26! I am a lot smaller than I look in pictures or on TV and that’s the first thing people say when they meet me! When I first started doing photo shoots, stylists would bring me a size 6 or 8, and they had to come back with 2′s and 4′s. I am only 117 lbs!

Due to the fact that she received many comments from people saying that she can not possibly be that small, Kim also made a little video entitled “See, I told you!” and put it on her blog – in the video, she tried on 3 pairs of jeans in front of the camera, 2 of them size 27 and one pair size 26. And yes, she did get inside them – yes, they were extremely tight on her, and yes, she to squeeze herself in, but they did fit, although the pants seemed to fit to burst.

Then, the magazine provided criticism,

Kim Kardashian West’s shapewear brand SKIMS is about to become a lot more accessible for customers. On Tuesday, Kim K announced that SKIMS will be expanding beyond its online-only store to bring the range to Nordstrom, its first retail partner ever, beginning on February 5.

With this partnership, customers will be able to shop SKIMS in 25 of Nordstrom’s brick-and-mortar stores across the country—including Bellevue Nordstrom, Washington Square, New York City, Mall of America, The Plaza at King of Prussia, Houston Galleria, Barton Creek Square, and more—and online at SKIMS launched last September with just shapewear and other undergarments and has since expanded to offer loungewear, including boxers, slip dresses, knit robes and sweatpants, and more. However, Nordstrom will stock SKIMS’s core products first, such as SolutionwearTM, Fits Everybody Underwear and accessories, with plans to add Skims’ other offerings on a monthly basis.

The changing nature of women’s breasts over the past 50 years has been revealed – through the cups of some of the most gorgeous celebrities of their times.

With fuller figures and bigger breasts, the changing body shapes are reflected in the figures of some of the biggest stars from each era.

International lingerie brand Bluebella has charted how the average woman’s bust has evolved from 1967 right through to today.

Using Government statistics, they have found the average bust size for each of the last six decades – and a star from each era with a figure of the same size.

The average woman in 1967 was a 34B – the same size as Jane Fonda, star of Barbarella, Barefoot in the Park and other Sixties smashes.

By the 1970s, due to improved health, bust sizes had gone up slightly to 34C.

That was the same shape as Barbara Streisand, at the peak of her powers in the 1970s.

By the 1980s, and with breast enhancement surgery now in its infancy, the average woman had grown again and so had her bust size – up to 34D.

Kim Kardashian West announced this week that her shapewear line, Skims, would launch two new products: body tape and pasties.

In posts on Twitter announcing the new products, set to go on sale Thursday on the Skims website, Kardashian West described the tape and pasties as being made of a sweatproof, stretchy material.

Representatives for Skims told Insider that the body tape and pasties were designed only for the breast area and confirmed that both products would be available in three colors.

A video on the Skims Instagram account demonstrates how the body tape is meant to be applied, instructing users to apply a 16-inch strip of tape from below each breast to the top of the shoulder.

She posted a series of photos on her Instagram Story highlighting how she said she’d “taped up” in the past and used body tape (in the form of duct tape and gaffer’s tape) when sporting tricky necklines and iconic outfits.

She shared a photo of herself in a showstopping gown from 2018, writing: “I tape the front so I can wear a backless dress! Since you can’t wear a bra.”

On her Instagram Story, fans can also see a throwback photo from 2008, which Kardashian West said was the year she started experimenting with body tape as a shapewear solution

Though her Story didn’t appear to contain any photos of her damaged skin, Kardashian West wrote on an Instagram Story slide: “I wish @skims tape existed because I will find pictures of my ripped skin once I took the tape off!”

Kim Kardashian Reveals New Name for Shapewear Brand After Backlash

Kim Kardashian has a new name for her shapewear brand: Skims.

After being criticized for cultural appropriation over the initial name of her shapewear brand — Kimono, which she revealed on June 25 — Kardashian is changing the brand’s name to Skims and has announced a Sept. 10 launch date.

“My fans and followers are a huge inspiration to me – I’m always listening to their feedback and opinions, and am so grateful they shared their ideas for a new brand name,” she wrote on Instagram. “I love the idea that the pieces will be the closest thing to someone’s skin, skimming with amazingly soft and supportive fabrics which accentuate the best parts of our bodies.”

The reality TV star had previously announced on Twitter she would be changing the brand’s name on July 1, just six days after revealing the brand. Social media backlash was swift against Kardashian over the Kimono name, with the mayor of Kyoto, Daisaku Kadokawa, penning an open letter asking her to drop the trademark.

She later addressed the backlash she received over Kimono’s name in an interview with WSJ Magazine, stating: “You would think we would have obviously thought it through a little bit deeper. I’m the first person to say, OK, of course, I can’t believe we didn’t think of this. I obviously had really innocent intentions. But, let’s listen. And I want to really listen. And I want to really take it all in. I do love Japan. My husband was in Japan when all of this was happening. It’s a place that we love and go to. I have such respect.”

Kardashian’s initial announcement showed her line of skin tone-colored shapewear has been 15 years in the works. Back in June, Kim Kardashian West faced criticism after she announced a line of shapewear called Kimono. She was accused of cultural appropriation for the naming choice, and the mayor of Kyoto, Japan even politely asked her not to trademark “kimono.” Kim said she would rename the line despite her “really innocent intentions” following the backlash. Now she’s finally revealed the new moniker.

Kim Kardashian has heard your complaints. The TV star, business mogul, and aspiring lawyer will rename her forthcoming shapewear brand of bodysuits and other Spanx-like underthings, after its original name, Kimono, raised concerns of cultural appropriation.

“I am always listening, learning and growing – I so appreciate the passion and varied perspectives that people bring to me,” Kardashian said on Monday morning in a trio of tweets. “When I announced the name of my shapewear line, I did so with the best intentions in mind.

“My brands and products are built with inclusivity and diversity at their core,” she continued, “and after careful thought and consideration, I will be launching my Solutionwear brand under a new name. I will be in touch soon. Thank you for your understanding and support always.”

The rebrand comes just a week after Kardashian unveiled her line of “shapewear and solutions for women” via Twitter on June 25. Although some of her followers (including fellow celeb Chrissy Teigen) praised the brand’s wide array of styles for women of diverse body types and skin colors, others called out Kardashian for borrowing the word for a traditional Japanese style of dress for her venture. (Kardashian has a habit of inserting her first name into whatever she’s selling — like her emoji line, “Kimoji” — but in this case, the approach is a little more tenuous. “Kim” is already part of “kimono,” and kimono is a … type of clothing. That’s about it.)

The kimono has evolved since its beginnings during Japan’s Heian period (794 to 1185 AD), which saw many men and women wearing the wide-sleeved, ground-skirting outfit on a regular basis. The modern kimono — with longer sleeves and a wider waist tie — arrived during the 1600s and has remained virtually the same ever since. Because the kimono is a heavy, expensive, and delicate piece of clothing, the garments are typically worn today in Japan during formal occasions only, and with a sense of pride.

But the kimono’s striking look — sweeping sleeves and a robe-like construction, often adorned with intricate designs — have given it international renown. And that has often led to appropriative takes on the Japanese fashion, with many brands crafting their own drapey “kimono” cardigans and shawls, which tend to be modeled by white women and loosely inspired by the real thing. Prior to Kardashian’s recent controversy, Japanese writers had called out the fashion industry for its seeming obsession with the kimono.

“Contrary to what Orientalist art and contemporary brands might have you believe, kimonos are not just clothes,” Emi Ito, a Japanese American blogger and educator, wrote earlier this year. “They are garments worn for celebrations, sacred ceremonies, and life’s milestones. They are part of our family stories, which for some of us, are the stories of what was left behind and the people who are no longer with us.”

Loose-fitting shawls are one thing — but traditional kimono can hardly be called “sexy” in the way that Kim Kardashian’s shapewear line, which is intended to be skin-tight by nature, seems meant to evoke.

In response to Kardashian’s brand announcement, Japanese visual artist Mariko Umeda pointed out in a tweet that shapewear is at odds with the general concept of the kimono.

When we wear kimono, the women has big breast and slim waist have to fill the gap and make body shape flat. so I feel your underwear works opposite of kimono concept. Not only traditional side, but also functionality makes no sense to use the name.

“Nice underwear, but as a Japanese woman who loves to wear our traditional dress, kimono, I find the naming of your products baffling (since it has no resemblance to kimono), if not outright culturally offensive, especially if it’s merely a word play on your name,” Japanese BBC News editor Yuko Kato said, asking Kardashian to “reconsider” the name of her line.

As a non-Japanese person, and one seemingly unaware of the kimono’s cultural history, Kardashian continued to receive blowback throughout the week that followed the announcement. The name even briefly inspired a hashtag, #KimOhNo, to call out the poor branding. The criticism only intensified when Business Insider reported that Kardashian had filed a trademark application for the word “kimono.”

At first, Kardashian stood behind the name and her decision to trademark it. “I understand and have deep respect for the significance of the kimono in Japanese culture,” she said in a statement to the New York Times on June 27. She added that trademarking the word “will allow me to use the word for my shapewear and intimates line but does not preclude or restrict anyone, in this instance, from making kimonos or using the word kimono in reference to the traditional garment.”

Even the mayor of Kyoto, one of Japan’s major cities, weighed in, asking Kardashian to reconsider her plans in an open letter.

“We think that the names for ‘Kimono’ are the asset shared with all humanity who love Kimono and its culture therefore they should not be monopolized,” wrote Mayor Daisaku Kadokawa.

But now Kardashian has reversed course, to the satisfaction of her Japanese followers and others who had called for her to change the name. Based on Kardashian’s not-great track record with cultural appropriation, however, her next challenge will be to avoid making the same mistake with her next branding attempt.

Kim Kardashian is known for many things, one of those things being her incredibly snatched bod. “I feel like I’ve been designing shapewear for 15 years,” Kardashian West told PEOPLE. “I’m so proud of the line. I’m so proud of the fabric. I made things that haven’t really been made before,” she added.

The new shapewear is retailing from $18 to $98. They are sold in sizes XXS to 5XL, 28 cup sizes, three tensions, depending on the support you want, and nine diverse colors with even more shades coming soon.

“I used to have to dye my shapewear with tea bags in the sink to get the right shade of nude that would blend into my skin,” Kardashian West said. “I’d blow dry it, then if it needed to make it a shade darker, I’d put more tea bags in again. I’ve only seen two colors — one standard nude and one black.”

Kim displayed the diversity of the shapewear in color and sizes through her multi-platform social media campaign, which included her sister/model Kendall Jenner. She also included Alice Marie Johnson, the woman from Memphis, Tennessee, whom she helped get pardoned from prison in her shapewear campaign.

We are almost certain that the entrepreneur’s line will be a success, especially if it includes the many shades of brown.


Originally Published 6/30/19 – Kim Kardashian has revealed a new name for her line of shapewear after the original name, Kimono, set off a firestorm of criticism.

Not only did she recieve backlash from the public, but Daisaku Kadokawa, mayor of Kyoto, Japan, issued a formal letter asking Kim to drop her trademark filing over the word “kimono.”

“Kimono is a traditional ethnic dress fostered in our rich nature and history with our predecessors’ tireless endeavours and studies, and it is a culture that has been cherished and passed down with care in our living,” he explains in the letter. “We think that the names for ‘Kimono’ are the asset shared with all humanity who love Kimono and its culture therefore they should not be monopolized.”

Kadokawa closed by inviting Kim Kardashian to Kyoto to experience the kimono culture in person to understand the city’s history and to reconsider the trademark.

After a successful trip to Toyko, Kim is now calling her shapewear line SKIMS.

Kim Kardashian West finally released her much-awaited collection of shapewear called Skims on Tuesday. The line, which was created due to the “Keeping Up With the Kardashian” star’s personal struggles with finding products that worked for her, features a wide range of sizes, colors, and more. Where can fans purchase the “solution-focused” pieces?

In a press release, Skims stated that it sets out to be “a new, innovative approach to shape enhancing undergarments” that is “fueled by passion to create something that doesn’t currently exist.” How does the line differ from what has previously been in the market? Per People, the mogul made sure that “comfort was key,” as she shared that many people hadn’t previously taken to shapewear due to its potentially-claustrophobic nature.

Additionally, per the press release, the line uses “the most advanced construction techniques to create new solutions: heavy bonded materials that smooth and flatter, seamless technology that sculpts and lifts, compression that cinches in the waist, and lightweight, breathable fabrics for comfort and ease.”

On top of providing “innovative solutions to achieve fashion and body goals for all,” Kardashian also sought to create designs that fixed a specific problem, such as a one-leg bike short that was intentionally created to be worn under gowns or skirts with a slit.

With prices ranging from $18 to $98 and sizes from XXS up to 5X in Shapewear, the line also aims to be inclusive to all body types. Additionally, there are 28 cups and nine colors to choose from at the time of the launch. There are also bikini briefs, thermal leggings and more.

As for how her family took to the designs, Kim revealed that everything got their stamp of approval as well. “They all genuienly love the product so much. It made me feel really proud that I found something that every family member, being a different shape and size, can really get behind,” she said.
