Blush Subtil in Mauve Coquette

I really like this blush. I went to the Lancome counter intending to buy the famous Miel Glace, but it didn’t show up on my NC20 skin at all. The SA recommended Mauve Coquette instead. It is basically the same hue as Miel Glace, but a darker shade. It looks quite plum-golden in the pan, but goes on surprisingly neutral. Perhaps that is where it got its name. It is a bit of a tease, making us think that it is mauve, when it is really a neutral. At any rate, this blush does a nice job of giving me a little color and the merest hint of sheen. It’s not frosty or even shimmery, although it looks shimmery in the pan. Once on, it just give a natural glow. Similar to the effect you get with bronzer, except it doesn’t look like you’re wearing bronzer or blush. Sort of a golden-healthy-halo effect. It’s hard to explain. It looks like you are very healthy or have been outside in the sun, without looking like you have anything on. That is the magic part. Mauve Coquette is great alone, but it really shines when I put just a little pop of a brighter blush on top of it. I like to use Nars Desire just on the apples of my cheeks, and the effect takes off about 10 years! Lancome blushes are not cheap, and I hesitated a bit. I love my Nars blushes and find them to be plenty expensive, and these are 29.50! But like Nars, I think it will last a very long time. The blush is very finely milled and not dusty. It doesn’t take much to get the effect you want, and it doesn’t blow all over the place when you sweep your brush across. Packaging is nice, and the mirror is big. The blush brush looks like it might be serviceable for travel, but I haven’t used it yet. I highly recommend!
