This isn’t the first time Paltrow has supported Aniston. In fact, the GOOP founder attended Aniston’s 50th birthday party in February 2019 and her holiday soiree in December. Pitt was also a guest at both events.

Additionally, last January, Paltrow took to Instagram to comment on a post that read “Brad: The man who likes to look like his girlfriend,” alongside pics of Pitt with Aniston, Paltrow and Angelina Jolie.

“Or we like to look like him, let’s face it,” Paltrow quipped at the time.

Jennifer Aniston Says Brad Pitt’s Support Means ‘Everything’

After Gwyneth Paltrow said there’s no ‘bad blood’ between her and ex-boyfriend Brad Pitt, she extended that goodwill and celebrated the woman he married after they broke up, Jennifer Aniston!

Not everyone would congratulate their ex-boyfriend’s ex-wife after a significant accomplishment, but not everyone is Gwyneth Paltrow. The 47-year-old actress and Goop founder got magnanimous in the comments section after Jennifer Aniston, 50, celebrated her Screen Actors’ Guild win. “ peers gave me a gift I will cherish and a night I will never forget,” Jen captioned a pair of Instagram photos, including one that featured her SAG award for Outstanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Drama Series. Gwyneth – who was involved with Brad Pitt, 56, before he and Jen tied the knot — congratulated the Morning Show star in the comments. “So deserved .”

It seems that Gwyneth wasn’t kidding when she told Harper’s Bazaar that there were no hard feelings between her and Brad Pitt (and, presumably, the woman Brad married in 1998, one year after he and Gwyneth called off their engagement.) She said that she was still on good terms with many of her exes. “One of them is still one of my best friends—one from high school, Tony Woods,” she said. “And I’m friendly with Brad Pitt. I don’t have any really bad blood.” Additionally, there doesn’t seem to be any bad blood between Brad and Jen, what with their now-iconic reunion at the SAG Awards.

This isn’t to say that Gwyneth simply shrugged off her uncoupling with Brad in 1997. While reacting to her throwback Harper’s Bazaar covers for a YouTube video, Gwyneth took a moment to reflect when she saw the Dec. 1997 issue of the magazine. “This one, gosh, I was only about maybe 24? or ?” she exclaimed at the sight of her younger self, a noticeably thin version. “Brad Pitt and I had just broken up, and I … like, could not eat. I was really skinny. It was sort of upsetting.” Despite that admission, Gwyneth said that the cover image was “a nice picture.”

It turns out, Gwyneth’s age factored into their eventual breakup. “I was such a kid. I was 22 when we met,” she said in a 2015 interview with Howard Stern. “It’s taken me until 40 to get my head out of my ass. You can’t make that decision when you’re 22 years old…I wasn’t ready, and he was too good for me.” They would both go on to other relationships. He would marry and divorce Angelina Jolie. She would marry and uncouple from Chris Martin before marrying Brad Falchuk in 2018.

Gwyneth was far from the only celeb celebrating Jennifer’s win. “So proud of you! And you’re gorgeous,” wrote Jen’s BFF Courteney Cox. “You are the definition of glamour, grace, beauty, and adorableness Congratulations!” wrote Jessica Capshaw. “How can you be so pretty sitting like this?” wondered Mindy Kaling after seeing the acrobatics Jen pulled off to avoid wrinkling her dress. The image left Michelle Pfeiffer in stitches, and she left three “laughing until I’m crying” emojis. “Congratulations,” wrote Allison Janney. “So deserving, and you looked gorgeous.” Other stars like Desean K. Terry, Arielle Vandenberg, Samantha Ronson, and Isla Fisher chimed in to congratulate Jen.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston have a long, storied history together, and apparently it didn’t start with Brad Pitt. Both of the stars auditioned for Richard Linklater’s Before Sunrise, long before Goop was a thing and before Rachel and Ross could even consider taking a break. In a New York Times oral history of the indie film, Linklater and casting director Judy Henderson explain that they didn’t really know who they were looking for until they saw them. “It wasn’t clear if it was going to be a European male and American female ,” Linkater said. “In the first draft, we named the characters Chris and Terry because both are kind of genderless. It was that open.” Sometimes when casting, you kiss a lot of frogs and other times, you’re the frog in a room full of Hollywood princesses. “I kept all the Polaroids because so many of the people who auditioned are superstars today,” Henderson said. “We saw Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston, before she was on Friends.” Soon after, Aniston would land her role as Rachel on Friends and GP starred in Se7en (with you-know-who) and Emma.

At the end, it came down to Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy, Michael Vartan (Never Been Kissed), and Sadie Frost (Bram Stoker’s Dracula). “Ethan and Julie had a chemistry that was electric and charming at the same time,” Henderson remembered. And thus began a long collaboration. Delpy and Hawke returned for Before Sunset and Before Midnight over decades. Had she gotten the part, would Gwyneth Paltrow even remember she was in the film?

Celebrity Buddies Gone Bust

From friends to frenemies, it happens oh-so often in Hollywood (and in real-life). But, for A-listers, perhaps the pressures of high-profile careers are just enough to strain a relationship to the breaking point. Outside pressures aside, when friends become enemies, experts say, it could be their own egos at fault.

According to New York-based marriage and family therapist Dr. Paul Hokemeyer, “Celebrities need attention and external validation to feed their insatiable narcissism. Their narcissism in turn consumes them with self-obsession-qualities that destroy relationships and provoke hostility from others,” he says. “When two narcissistic celebrities enter into a relationship with one another the results are toxic and explosive.”

We profiled seven pairs of former besties to get to the bottom of the she-said/she-said and find out why these famous friends really fell out.

Madonna & Gwyneth Paltrow

and Gwyneth Paltrow bonded over British husbands and their mutual love of music. But these blonde buddies started making headlines when they reportedly stopped speaking to each other. But, that didn’t stop Paltrow from dishing about her former friend when she asked readers on her website Goop what to do when you “don’t like a friend” anymore.

After consoling Madge during her divorce from Guy Ritchie, Paltrow reportedly became angry with the singer after she dropped their mutual trainer and friend Tracy Anderson. Now, news reports have surfaced that Madonna has been ‘banned’ from their former close circle of famous friends such as Stella McCartney, Beyoncé and Kate Hudson altogether.

Licensed psychotherapist Brooke Miller thinks these two stars ended their friendship because they just didn’t have enough in common anymore. “These women found each other while they were wearing similar hats in their family units and in their lives,” Miller says. “But, after Madonna’s divorce, they had less similar ground to stand on and just like in romantic relationships, some pairings work better when they have a lot in common.”

Denise Richards & Heather Locklear

Image zoom

Thou shall not date their friend’s ex-husband. It’s the cardinal girlfriends rule, right? Apparently Denise Richards’ friendship with Heather Locklear wasn’t enough to keep the actress away from Richie Sambora.

“It’s a universal women’s code to never date a friend’s ex, no matter how long the breakup has been,” says Allison Pescosolido M.A. and co-founder of Divorce Detox™.

But according to Pescosolido’s Divorce Detox partner, Andra Brosh, both women should have just put on their big girl panties and moved on. “It sounds like both women didn’t handle things like adults. In order to repair the damage, they would need to have a conversation in which they both take accountability for their part and find forgiveness to move on.”

In the end, neither girl got the guy, as Locklear quickly moved on with Jack Wagner (and later broke off the engagement) and Richards is raising her three daughters as a single mom (but was recently photographed at a party with Sambora).

Nicole Richie & Paris Hilton

Image zoom

They grew up together as celebrity kids and even filmed a reality show together. But the end of the Simple Life turned out to be the end of Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton’s friendship, too. Miller believes this is a classic case of the woman who befriends the “underdog” essentially to make herself feel superior. And in this case, when Richie no longer was the underdog, Hilton couldn’t handle it and moved on.

“Richie spent many years feeling insecure about who she was, what she looked like, and what kind of emotional space she wanted to take up in the world. Hilton hearts these types of girls. But when Nicole shifted from ‘lost’ girl to success story, the friendship faded,” Miller says.

Paris Hilton & Kim Kardashian

Image zoom

While Paris Hilton seems to have a pattern of ditching childhood friends (see the aforementioned Nicole Richie), it could just be a matter of growing apart-or catty backstabbing. Case in point: Kim Kardashian. The two were inseparable until Hilton reportedly bashed Kardashian in the media.

“Friends don’t make fun of other friends, especially in a public forum,” Brosh says. “Sounds like these girls need to re-evaluate what a friend truly is.”

Miller believes, when Kardashian stepped into the limelight after years of being known as ‘Hilton’s friend,’ the two were ‘competing’ for public adoration, and that just became too much to bear. “Their identities are so deeply braided into the attention they receive from the public, that competing for said attention is like a true battling for their identity,” Miller says.

Jennifer Aniston & Chelsea Handler

Image zoom

Actress Jennifer Aniston and comedian Chelsea Handler were an unlikely pairing from the start. So when the two went from attached-at-the-hip to at-odds, few were surprised. The falling out reportedly happened after Handler publicly bashed Aniston’s ex Brad Pitt and his new love, Angelina Jolie-based on Aniston’s own personal discussions with the talk show host.

“It’s always important to be careful about who you complain to about an ex,” Brosh says. “Some friends will want to take sides and bad mouth the ex or new partner to show support. While it was well-intentioned, this can backfire as it did here.”

Brosh says Aniston may have forgiven Handler (the two were recently photographed with their arms around each other at an award’s ceremony) for her indiscretions but should always remember Handler’s not the person to spill secrets to.

Kim Cattrall & Sarah Jessica Parker

Image zoom

When it comes to an ensemble cast, Hollywood has a long history of feuding over who makes more money or gets more privileges. Such was the case between Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker, as reported by many media outlets, when the two were co-stars on the popular series-turned-screenplay Sex and the City.

“Envy can get ugly” Brosh says. While the two repeatedly denied rumors of a feud, reports surfaced of on-set arguments, co-stars taking sides, and Cattrall demanding the same paycheck as co-executive producer Parker-an on/off again friendship that could rival the back and forth of Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big.

“Sure, there is probably some discord between them, but it’s probably as simple as jealousy for each others strengths, which seem to be very different for both of them, or just not always being on the same page,” Miller says. “But just because they aren’t best friends, doesn’t mean they hate each other. Whatever their relationship is, they sure keep the truth under wraps well,” she adds.

Jennifer Lopez & Eva Longoria

Image zoom

Bring two fiery Latin superstars together, both with strong personalities, and it’s a recipe for a diva-disaster-especially when one said superstar gets a little too friendly with the other’s hubby. Jennifer Lopez and Eva Longoria were reportedly friends, until 2008, when photos surfaced of Longoria sitting on the lap of Lopez’ now estranged husband Marc Anthony. Longoria was also married at the time.

“Having friends of the opposite sex in a marriage is fine until it becomes inappropriate. Eva and Marc crossed the line,” Brosh says.

Things really heated up earlier this year when Anthony and Lopez announced a split, and Longoria provided a consoling shoulder for Anthony to cry on. Lopez was angry, and rightfully so, Pescosolido says. ” broke an important rule: sharing intimate marriage details is off-limits in friendships between men and women,” Pescosolido says. Reps for both deny any discussions about Lopez and Anthony’s marriage.

20 Celebs Criticized for Their Curves

Sandra Bernhard and Andy Cohen recently sat down to critique Madonna’s latest music video “Ghosttown” on Watch What Happens Live.

Of course, anyone who knows anything is aware that, once upon a time, Madge and Sandy were thick as thieves. Back in the late ’80s and early ’90s, the pair were often spotted running around New York City together, making joint appearances on The David Letterman Show, and, at one point, even rumored to be lesbian lovers.

“She came to my show in 1988, came backstage, and then we started hanging out,” Bernhard told Wendy Williams back in 2010. “We would go out, we would have a genuinely great time, and I think we were a really good example of two women being friends.”

Then one day, that all abruptly ended.

“I like to maintain my friendships,” Bernhard said. “But, you know, certain people can’t handle those kinds of friendships.”

Of course, Sandra Bernhard isn’t the only close confidant Madonna has dropped for seemingly no apparent reason. The rebel heart has a long history of ditching her pals.

Scroll down for some of Madonna’s most high profile BFF breakups…

Gwyneth Paltrow

There was a period in the mid-2000’s when Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow were practically joined at the hip. Both were blonde American women living in the U.K. who possessed an air of cultural superiority sophistication. They could frequently be seen gossiping over lunch, working out together, or attending fashion shows, where they snickered at the models from the front row. Then something happened. And now they hate each other.

Rumor has it the falling out occurred when Madonna fired their shared personal trainer, Tracy Anderson, then told Gwyneth she should, too. When Gwyneth refused, Madonna terminated their friendship contract. In 2011, Paltrow alluded to the feud on her blog Goop when she wrote about an “insufferable” friend who left her feeling “drained, empty and belittled.”

The moral of the story: Nobody belittles Gwyneth Paltrow. And absolutely nobody crosses Madonna!

Niki Haris

Niki Haris sang backup for Madge from 1987 to 2001, appearing in the Who’s That Girl Tour in 1987, Blond Ambition Tour in 1990, The Girlie Show Tour in 1993, and The Drowned World Tour in 2001, as well as in the documentary Truth or Dare, and music videos “Vogue” and “Music.” Then in 2004, she was inexplicably replaced in Madonna’s Re-Invention Tour.

At the time, Haris’s publicist claimed the backup singer had chosen to sit out the tour because she wanted to “focus on her solo career and family,” but insiders said she wasn’t asked to participate after allegedly making off-handed comments about Madge to the press.

In 2009, Haris kinda sorta opened up about what happened, telling an interviewer that “maybe there was some drama” but that ultimately Madonna is “a gem” and she was grateful for having worked with her. “Of course, my ego was involved: ‘Oh, she don’t want me no more!’ But at the end of the day, she gave me the greatest gift,” Haris said.

Unfortunately, these kind words about her former boss still didn’t land her a spot in the 2012 MDNA Tour.

The moral of the story: Once you cross over to the bad side of Madge, there’s no going back.

Christopher Ciccione

In 2008, Madonna’s younger brother Christopher published a tell-all book called Life With My Sister Madonna. Naturally, the “Keep It Together” songwriter wasn’t pleased.

The gloves came off as Christopher, who had worked with Madonna in a variety of capacities over the course of two decades — from backup dancer, to personal assistant, to interior designer — dished about his complex relationship with his famous sister, her career failures, her marriages, and her lack of boundaries when it came to making money, going so far as to accuse her of exploiting their mother’s death in the documentary Truth or Dare.

The book, which reached #2 on the New York Times Bestseller List, was packed with jabs at Madonna’s age, negative personality traits, parenting skills, and inability to truly love. As a result, the singer didn’t speak to her brother for several years. When asked about the book in an interview recently, she it was “very hurtful” but said she and her brother have since made up.

The moral of the story: Madonna’s not the only member of the Ciccone clan who will do anything for a buck.

Donna De Lory

Donna De Lory was Madge’s other longtime backup singer, who, like Niki Haris, began working with her in 1987 and appeared in every one of her world tours, as well as several of her music videos, up until 2007. De Lory loyally stood alongside Madonna as she went from pop starlet to music icon to mother to Kabbalist. And that’s when things seemed to go awry for the duo.

“Kabbalah, all of a sudden, was mandatory,” De Lory recalled in a 2013 interview. “I thought it couldn’t hurt, but it wasn’t my belief system per se. However, two times the teacher tied on the red-string, and two times I watched it untie and come off me. They tie these things and knot them and they aren’t supposed to come off for a long time. After it came off two times on its own, I figured that I didn’t need that to protect me.”

Coincidentally, after De Lory decided Kabbalah wasn’t for her, she wasn’t asked back for Lady M’s 2008 Sticky & Sweet Tour.

“Even though she is very wealthy and very famous,” De Lory said, “Madonna is still human and, like all of us, she is trying to figure it all out.”

The moral of the story: Wear the fucking red bracelet!

Demi Moore

Just like Gwyneth, there was a time when Madonna and Demi Moore were BFFs. When they were younger they’d go nightclubbing together. As they got older they’d go to Kabbalah class together. The women had plenty in common. They both rich. They were both famous. And they both had a taste for younger fellas. But when Demi’s relationship with her younger beau Ashton Kutcher ended, so did her friendship with Madge.

The story goes: Around the time of Ashton and Demi’s split, Ashton signed with Madonna’s long-time manager Guy Oseary. When forced to choose between her relationship with Demi or her business partnership with Guy, Madonna went where the money was and dropped Demi from her Christmas card list.

Talk about getting the shit end of the stick. Poor Demi lost her boyfriend and her best friend all in one fell swoop.

The moral of the story: Money can’t buy you class.

Liz Smith

So what’s with Madonna ditching all her best buddies anyway? We think iconic celebrity columnist Liz Smith explains it best. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 92-year-old veteran reporter opened up about her friendship with Madonna, saying: “She’s an extremely talented, deeply complicated woman. We were close for a while, or as close as anyone can get to her.”

Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow fall out over Madonna

Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow have fallen out over Madonna.

The ‘Drunk in Love’ hitmaker is reportedly in Gwyneth’s bad books at the moment as she’s been growing close to her former best pal Madonna after appearing in her latest music video.

A source shared: “Beyonce and Gwyneth are not friends at the moment. Beyonce’s staff have been openly discussing it.

“Gwyneth hasn’t been happy with how close Beyonce and Madonna have become. It was especially annoying to her that Beyonce appeared in Madonna’s last video.

“It’s a case of ‘the friend of my enemy is not my friend’.”

Beyonce and Gwyneth – whose ex-husband Chris Martin is pals with the 33-year-old star’s husband Jay Z – have been very close in the past but are said to have had a bitter falling out, with Gwyneth referring to Bey as a “toxic friend”.

The insider told The Sun newspaper: “Beyonce has definitely switched allegiances.”

The news comes after the ‘Mortdecai’ actress admitted earlier this year that she reached out to Beyonce after seeing the infamous footage of her sister Solange attacking Jay in an elevator.
