A YOUNGSTER who has won two under-age national titles as a pole vaulter is set to follow the likes of Tamsyn Lewis in cashing in on glamorous looks. Her name is Melanie Adams, and with a 2007 personal-best of 3.8 metres and high hopes of vaulting 4.2 metres by the end of the season, she is seriously good at the caper. But the 19-year-old is also making quite a name for herself on the catwalk, to the point where she has reached next Tuesday’s final of a national competition run by the Cosmopolitan Model management company to find Australia’s “next big-name model”. Involved with pole vaulting since she was 11, Adams recently also took up heptathlons but had a setback last year when she broke her foot. Her immediate aim now is to get back to full fitness and she has earmarked next year’s national titles and the trials for the 2010 Commonwealth Games as her first big steps to sporting stardom. First up, though, is the modelling final, to be conducted at Federation Square, where five young Australian hopefuls will win international contracts.

Cat’s out of the bag — Green in blue and white

WE HAVE seen him wearing all sorts of different coloured tops over the years — not least the gold jacket when he won the Australian Masters in 2004 — but it will be a completely different Richard Green when he tees off in the event’s pro-am at Huntingdale today. You see, to prove what a diehard Cats supporter he is — and as part of a deal he struck with radio SEN’s breakfast show man, former star Billy Brownless, before this year’s AFL grand final — he will don a specially made shirt bearing the blue and white hoops of the Geelong footy club. “He’s happy to do it — in fact he’s quite looking forward to it,” Green’s manager Paul Walker told us yesterday. “Billy said, ‘If we win the flag, will you wear a Cat top at the Masters?’ And he said he would.” The 35-year-old world No. 38, who was born in Altona, has been a Geelong supporter all his life, so you can imagine his anguish in September when he rushed back from the US for the grand final but couldn’t snag a ticket, so ended up watching the game on television. But he will really get to show his true colours today — a series of shirts, all varied in design but all bearing those famous hoops (and complete with all the necessary logos, both for his sponsors and Geelong’s) turned up at Huntingdale yesterday and Green will try them all on this morning before deciding which one to wear. “Geelong had them made, all with Billy Brownless’ encouragement, of course,” Walker said. Like Geelong in 2007, Green has been in brilliant form of late (as proven by the 65 he shot in a practice round at Huntingdale last week) and hopes to improve on his second Masters placing last year and snare his second title. Green also will wear one of the blue-and-white tops for Sunday’s final round (if he makes the cut, of course) and depending on how comfortable they feel, he may also don them on one or two of the other days. As you can see, we couldn’t wait to see how Green scrubbed up in the Cats colours, so we got an artist to give us what amounts to a sneak preview. Comes up a treat, doesn’t he? Mind you, for his opponents’ sake, let’s hope he doesn’t play as well as he looks, otherwise he might end up winning the tournament with something like the grand final margin of his footy team.

The 30 Hottest Crossfit Bodies of 2015

Post updated on January 30, 2020

If you ask us the female athlete body type is the most attractive of all body types. I am sure this is not a big surprise coming from TheAthleticBuild.com. We have painstakingly researched female athlete after female athlete to come up with the 50 hottest for 2018. It was a tough job but someone had to do it.

50 Natasha Hastings

Natasha is a sprinter on Team USA who is a seasoned track veteran. She won a gold medal in the 4×400 meter relay at the 2008 Olympic Games.

49 Camila Giorgi

Camila Giorgi is an Italian professional tennis player of Argentinian descent. She won her first WTA title this year and has won 5 singles ITF titles in her career.

48 Jessica “Evil” Eye

Jessica is an MMA fighter with the UFC. She is considered one of the best female strikers out there and went totally undefeated as an amateur.

47 Ellen Hoog

Ellen is a member of the Netherlands field hockey team that won gold in the 2012 Olympics.

46 Hilary Knight

Hilary Knight is a professional hockey player, Olympic Silver Medalist for the USA, MVP of the Canadian Women’s Professional hockey league, four-time World Champion and three-time All American in the sport of women’s hockey…and she looks good doing it!

45 Leilani Mitchell

Leilani Mitchell plays for the New York Liberty in the WNBA.

44 Felice Herrig

Felice is an MMA fighter with the UFC. She has one of the best bodies in the sport and isn’t shy about showing it off either.

43 Voula Papachristou

Voula is a Greek triple jumper. She won two gold medals at the European Athletics U23 Championships and represented Greece at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics.

42 Whitney Miller

Whitney Miller is Miss United States 2012, she is also a professional wake surfer on a journey to earn a Jiu Jitsu Blackbelt.

41 Serena Williams

You know who she is, especially if you like booty.

7. Melanie Adams

Melanie Adams is a bit of a stretch for the list, because she’s officially retired from competitive action. There is, however, always the possibility she catches the bug during the Olympic year and gives it a go for her native Australia. Melanie was a pole vaulter for home country and competed in the 2012 Olympics, but has since stepped away from the grueling training schedule of international competition to begin her own fitness brand. That’s right—Melanie wasn’t about to step away from a life dedicated to strength and fitness. The bummer of her retirement is that the women’s international track and field community has lost one heck of a competitor. Oh, and…well…she was a true Australian beauty. For what it’s worth, she still is.

5

6. Louise Hazel

Louise Hazel is a British beast. And by British beast, we mean she’s a heptathlete. She is one of those badass women who does seven events over the course of two days in order to accumulate competitive points to determine the “World’s Greatest Athlete.” Louise has competed at a high level for nearly 10 years, and at 30 years old she has put the heptathlon aside to focus on training for other events. She could still be considered one of the top female heptathletes able to compete for the UK in the 2016 Rio Games, but we’re not entirely sure what she’ll settle on, or if she’ll qualify for the UK Olympic team, but she has never been one to be doubted. Whatever the case, we’re really just hoping Louise offers a training video so we might all have abs like hers.

6

5. Lolo Jones

Lori “Lolo” Jones is a lightning rod. A storied American track athlete who has run with, and beaten, the world’s best, she has yet to taste victory on the world’s largest stage: the Olympics. In fact, Lolo has never finished on the medal stand at the Olympics, and that includes her 2014 Winter Olympics stint on the U.S. Women’s Bobsled Team. At 33, Lolo is proving that there is something to her clean living lifestyle, as she’s still running some of her top times in the 100m hurdles. It’ll be really interesting to see where she lands in the 2016 mix, and let’s hope she scores that elusive medal—maybe even a gold.

7

4. Allyson Felix

Allyson Felix is at the top of her game, and she has never looked better. Allyson has four Olympic gold medals and a couple of silver medals, but she’ll look to score that coveted 200m/400m double gold in the 2016 Rio Games. Allyson specializes in the 200m and 400m races, but also competes in the 100m, and is used on several of the prestigious United States relay teams. Allyson is one of those women who could stop traffic with her smile, then outrun the traffic to the next destination. Allyson struck double gold in the 200m and 400m at the 2015 Track and Field World Championships, and if she stays healthy through the 2016 tuneup season, she’ll be the favorite going into Rio in August. If she seals the deal, and scores more golds with the relay teams, expect her on your Wheaties box by Christmas.

8

3. Sara Galimberti

Sara Galimberti is still making a name for herself in the realm of track and field competition. At 24 years old, she hasn’t begun to peak as a distance runner, and thus…we’re happy she’s so gorgeous, or we might not be able to follow her career. For Sara, her looks combined with her talent have helped to separate her from some more seasoned runners, and allowed for opportunities at sponsorship. Those opportunities are crucial to actually enjoying a career in track, and not simply defaulting to other offers like modeling. Yeah, it’s a rough life for Sara. Will we see her in the Olympics? Tough to say. If she makes the Italian team, they’ll likely feature her in the parade of nations, but she’ll have her work cut out for her versus the world’s most elite distance running competition.

9

2. Allison Stokke

Allison Stokke is a U.S. pole vaulter who has a great shot at making the United States Olympic Team in 2016. The 26-year-old California native stayed in state to compete for the state during her collegiate career, where she impressed the world. Allison is an interesting case, because she was one of the first “Woah, have you seen how hot this track and field girl is?” in the internet age. It was promptly argued that people should be more concerned about her performance on the track than her aesthetic beauty. And we completely agree. Hopefully Allison knows that she’s also inspiring “pretty” young girls who are often told they should “model” or “be an actress” instead of play sports.

10

1. Leryn Franco

There are multiple reasons why Leryn Franco sits at number one on this list. Any subsequent list, and she’d likely be omitted—she has officially given up track and field to be photographed, and strut on various runways. Leryn was a former Olympian who could kill you with a spear. She tossed the javelin for Paraguay and competed in the 2004 Athens Games, 2008 Beijing Games and the 2012 London Games. Her talent on the track was elite when compared to the other 6.99 billion people on planet earth, but she couldn’t bust the glass ceiling that prevented her from being one of the best of the best. A lot of it may have been due to her ridiculously beautiful looks, and the modeling offers that wouldn’t stop coming in. Ultimately, she enjoyed quite a journey in both professions, and presently works for Club Sol de América.

RIO DE JANEIRO – With the Olympics headed into its fifth day, it has not just been the sporting prowess and athletic talent that have caught the eye. The ripped bodies of some of the world’s best athletes have kept fans glued to the action. The Straits Times takes a closer look at some of these men and women who have excelled at looking their best.

A post shared by Alex Naddour OLY (@alex_naddour) on Jun 6, 2016 at 3:02am PDT

Naddour has been a member of the U.S. men’s national team for three straight years, and he was an alternate at the 2012 Olympics. His best event is the pommel horse.

The 2016 Olympic Games commence on August 5th in Brazil’s cultural hub of Rio de Janerio. While the proceedings have been plagued with countless issues, and the surrounding areas have been deemed to be “literal garbage,” players from all over the world are still flocking to this South American city to kick some ass and leave with their heads high and chunky metal around their neck. The 10 ladies listed below, while extremely talented, also just happen to be absolute smokeshows. If their athletic ability won’t impress the world, we have a feeling something else might.

Brazil’s Jacqueline Carvalho (Volleyball)

Standing at 6’1″, this brunette bombshell makes for the perfect volleyball player you’d most definitely want on your side of the net. With two gold medals around her neck and a Best Spiker award from the 2010 FIVB World Grand Prix, expect great things from Jacqueline when she’s at it in Rio.

USA’s Serena Williams (Tennis)

Tennis great Serena Williams is back at it again, and her appearance at the 2016 Olympics gives audiences another go at watching her crush the sport she was born to play. At four Olympic gold medals, what’s one more for the 34-year old?

USA’s Aly Raisman (Gymnastics)
