Congratulations parents, I am now officially able to say that we all made it through the back-to-school season and it is likely we all did a lot better than we thought we would. Some schools have only been in session for a week but for us, it has been a month. That’s right we have an entire month under our belt. Sounds great, doesn’t it? We are now skilled in the art of juggling school, homework, soccer practice, meals, bath time, reading, and everything in between before bed. We have developed a routine for picking out clothes and packing lunch the night before. Everything should be easy breezy, we should be handing out advice to the newbies, and consoling those still struggling to create a pattern but alas … we are not.
This summer our daughter talked almost nonstop about starting Kindergarten, making new friends, learning how to read, and starting new adventures. She even asked if she could play soccer like her cousin so we signed her up to be part of a soccer team for beginners. By the end of the first practice she decided soccer wasn’t for her but we explained that we don’t give up and we don’t quit so she would need to finish out the season. She pouted a bit and then agreed. Then school began. She was so excited! She would be going to school every day, all day, and she was going to get to ride the school bus like a big girl. The first three days of school were great and it has been a nightmare ever since.
It started at the bus stop when she started crying, almost howling, and was holding around my leg. She begged me not to make her go to school but couldn’t give me a reason other than, “I don’t want to leave you, mommy.” I bit back tears, gave her a small pep talk along with a hug and a kiss, walked her to the bus steps, and sent her on her way. I then spent the next hour crying, feeling as though I had done something horribly wrong. That night she cried at bedtime and begged us not to make her go back to school. This time, we both sat down with her to find out if something was going on. Again, she said she didn’t want to leave us. This went on day after day for two weeks. We had talk after talk, exchanged emails with the teacher, cried our own tears in private, and even reached out to family for assistance. The popular response is that it just takes time to adjust. Great! Wonderful … but what do we do in the meantime? I drew up a plan that focuses on keeping our little one calm and comfortable when she is at home. We do everything that we can to maintain this environment at home in the hopes that it will seep into her soul and become a part of the daily routine that includes school. It has been about two weeks now and I think, hope, pray that it is working and will continue to do so.
Everyone has their own sense of calm and comfortable, we all identify with different things. What we do is focus on our little one’s favorite things; her favorite blanket, clothes, food, stories, activities, and we ensure that they are part of our day to day life. In addition, we have also started defusing essential oils in the evening. Essential oils are the new IT thing and like any trend the market is saturated with hundreds if not thousands of brands. Unfortunately, not all essential oils are created the same and this can make it rather difficult when deciding what to buy and who to buy from. At least, that was the case until recently when a trust brand came out with a new product, Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™.
Nature’s Bounty is a family name in our home as my husband and I take vitamins daily and this is the brand we use. As soon as I learned they offer essential oils as well, my decision of brands to buy from became rather simple … stick with what you know. Essential oils are used to create moods and are able to enhance the smell of your home when used in an oil diffuser. Perfect! I started looking for something that would make our home feel comfortable and warm while smelling “pretty” at the same time. After doing a little research I settled on Jasmine! Jasmine is a flower. To create Jasmine essential oil the oil is extracted from the blossom. The scent is often associated with romance and love and it has a pleasing, uplifting scent.
We have a diffuser in our family room that runs for six to eight hours and we now use it every night. About thirty minutes before my little one gets home from school I add six to eight drops of oil to our diffuser and it begins its cycle for the evening. By the time she gets off the bus and opens the front door she is surrounding with a friendly scent that encourages comfort and warmth and so far it has been great. Now we make it through our evening routine and at bedtime she no longer cries. She has gotten teary eyed on a couple of occasions in the morning but we have a little talk, mommy kisses her tears away, and we continue on with our day. This may be a practice that we will need to continue for an extended period of time but I’m fine with that as the Jasmine seems to be having a positive effect on all of us. At night I don’t feel as anxious about what I need to accomplish before everyone goes to bed. My little one bounces around like her normal self and my pups lie on the couch and sleep; even though they would do that without the oil. As for my husband, there is an extra bounce to his step but Jasmine is said to elicit feelings of romance. 😉 All and all, I would say we all are enjoying the effects.
This has been a great addition to our household and one that I would recommend to anyone looking for a home or office filled with comfort, love, and warmth.

***I have been compensated BY NATURE’S BOUNTY® EARTHLY ELEMENTS™ all opinions are my own***
A few years ago we decided to start getting healthy. Since my husband and I are not getting any younger we knew it was time. I stopped buying processed foods and I filled my kitchen and fridge with all real foods no boxed or canned. I did not buy any foods that are processed or had added chemicals. What a difference it made. The transition was not as hard as I thought it was going to be. In our quest to get healthy, I started hearing more and more about using essential oils. I began doing research on the benefits and decided to give it a try. I found Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™ Diffuser and Essential Oils right at WALMART®. We started out using a few different Essential Oil recipes one I really liked is 3 drops of Eucalyptus, 3 drops Peppermint, and 2 drops of Lemongrass I used this right in the diffuser. It has really helped a lot so I started experimenting with other oils like the lavender to help set the mood for rest and relaxation.
Since we removed the chemicals from our diet I started reading the labels on everything. I started reading what was in the household cleaners we are using. They are filled with chemicals. I knew how well the Nature’s Bounty Earthly Elements was working in the diffuser. I decided to start putting 3-4 drops of Lemongrass right on my coffee table. Nature’s Bounty Earthly Elements are extracted oil from plants instead of harsh chemicals and it really makes my wood shine. It is actually better than any chemical filled spray I could buy in the stores. Bonus, It actually smells amazing. I have tried several different oils when cleaning depending on what scent I wanted to use that day. I love to use the grapefruit oils on my furniture also. I have discovered so many ways to use Essential Oils when cleaning the house. You can also start using Nature’s Bounty® Earthly Elements™ line can be found in the Vitamin Aisle at Walmart.
