Post by Kim
I have a Proform 595 le treadmill for sale. It was purchased from
sears about 4 years ago. It has been used maybe 10 times. . .very
little use. For most of it’s life it has been more of a place to hang
my clothes than for exercise. It has 10 incline settings, a track for
indication of distance walked, speed settings. It will also tell you
how many fat calories have been burned, with an EKG/pulse grip bar,
cupholder, and book/magazine holder. The treadmill folds up for more
space when needed. I must mention that the EKG/pulse indicator is
rather sensitive. To get an accurate reading you have to grip the bar
just the right way. Not a defect, just the way it has always been.
The times I used it I mainly used my heart monitor instead of the grip
bar, so I never really learned how to use the grip bar correctly. The
treadmill is in very good condition and ready to be used!
I am needing more space in my house and so the treamill must go! I am
wanting $300.00 for it. My price is negotable, with a good offer. If
you are interested, please email for further information or for
pictures. I live in the Memorial area of Houston (I-10 & the Beltway
@ Memorial). Thanks for your interest!

The ProForm 595 Pi Treadmill – Will It Last Longer Than Its Warranty?

The ProForm 595 Pi treadmill is another solid offering from Icon Fitness. With plenty of fun features, it’s certainly something to consider when shopping for a treadmill.

The Machine

Just as with other treadmills from Icon Fitness, the Proform 595 Pi treadmill gives you plenty of electronic extras as well as power:

  • 2.5 THP motor
  • 18″ x 52″ running surface
  • Impact absorption
  • 0-10 mph speed
  • 2-10% power incline
  • Folding design
  • 4 built-in workout programs
  • 275 lb. user weight
  • 6×6 matrix display
  • Heart rate grip pulse sensors
  • Workout fan
  • 5 Year motor warranty, 90 days parts and labor

UPDATE: The ProForm 595 PI has been discontinued and is no longer available. Check out the new ProForm lineup to find a comparable machine.

The Buzz

Experts agree that the ProForm treadmills offered presently need some considerable upgrades – better parts and a better warranty are the first two that come to mind. However, the ProForm 595 Pi does offer a longer motor warranty than has been offered in the past, allowing you to feel like this just might be a model that lasts longer than other ProForm treadmills.

The ProForm 595 Pi treadmill does offer a nice running surface as well as impact absorption for a smooth run, but some users found the motor to be a little less than ample for harder workouts. While called a ‘Mach Drive System,’ it has less horsepower than many treadmills in the same price range.

Once again, ProForm has included grip sensors for heart rate monitoring, but most users don’t find these to be accurate or even simple to hold during a run.

Experts also agree that the ProForm 595 Pi’s lessened user capacity (275 lbs. vs. the standard 300 lbs for most treadmills) is a downside for many users.

Overall, there are plenty of workout options for the ProForm 595 Pi, so if you’re looking for a few years of great running, experts agree this model in the ProForm treadmills line is certainly going to give you that.

What We Say

In truth, we think that the ProForm 595 Pi isn’t as impressive as it looks. You may have fun with the various workout options and the runs may be smooth, but the overall construction and horsepower make us wonder if the ProForm 595 Pi treadmill will last longer than its warranty. For your money, you may want to opt for the ProForm Crosswalk or the ProForm 6.0 GSX. These treadmills have more horsepower and can handle a user weight up to 300 lbs.

Proform Treadmill Reviews

Is Proform Right For You?

Proform treadmills are perfect for those who love to walk or jog.

These treadmills are cheap and are built for low intensity workouts. So if you’re looking for an affordable starter treadmill, you might want to read the whole article.

However, if you’re a seasoned runner, you’re better off buying a more expensive treadmill. This brand is not for you.

Their treadmills aren’t built to withstand intense wokrouts. It would be better for you to go for those worth $1,500 or above.

Brief Company Background…

In it’s early days, Proform revolutionized the treadmill industry by introducing the now world-famous SpaceSaver(R) fold-away design treadmills. This made their Proform brand known and linked to treadmills.

Proform treadmills are created by the largest manufacturer and marketer of exercise equipment in the world, which is Icon Health and Fitness. It has over 4,800 employees and 10 manufacturing facilities in the United Stated, Canada and China.

Proform probably has the widest range of treadmills in the market today. And most of them, if not all, belonging to the entry level(below $500) to the mid-class(around $1,000-$2,000) price range.

Proform Treadmills Biggest Fallback

The biggest fallback of Proform treadmills is that most of them have short warranties. At the same time, there have been some complaints regarding the durability of their machines.

To Conclude…

Always remember that you get what you pay for. And this applies to everything including treadmills. If you’re a seasoned runner who wants a quality treadmill with long warranties, then I strongly urge you to buy treadmills worth at least $1,500.

All in all, I believe that Proform makes good entry level machines. But due to its poor warranty, quality and durability, I wouldn’t recommend proform treadmills for runners. There are other similar treadmills out there worth buying.(see our Best Treadmills page)

ProForm 400 CT Review

  • Many Workout Programs: Sixteen calorie-burn workouts are built into the machine. You also get an iFit card with 24 weight loss programs led by Jillian Michaels, a certified personal trainer. Additional workout cards, sold separately, include another eight weeks’ worth of workouts each. You can choose from cards targeting weight loss, performance or endurance.
  • Clear Screen: The wide-angle console can be read easily, whatever your height. It displays distance, speed, time, calories burned, incline and pulse. You can also set it to RaceTrack mode to monitor your overall progress.
  • Pulse Monitor: Heart rate sensors are included on the handlebars. By monitoring your pulse, you can exercise within a target heart rate and maximize your workout.
  • Good Cushioning: This unit’s cushioning reduces joint impact by up to 15% compared with running on asphalt. A runner would probably want better cushioning, but this is fine for walking.
  • Motor: The 2.25 CHP motor is adequate for smooth speed walking and jogging.
  • Audio: The 400 CT includes an iPod port and 2.0 Intermix Acoustics speakers. These aren’t the best treadmill speakers available, but they’re a nice perk for the sale price.
  • Track: The track is 20″ x 55″, which is long enough for most walkers and many joggers. It also inclines by 10% to help you burn calories more quickly and train different muscles.
  • SpaceSaver Design: The deck can be folded vertically to save space.

What We Don’t Like

  • Poor Warranty: Parts are protected for just 90 days. Customers get a lifetime frame warranty and a 25-year motor warranty. See our other ProForm treadmill reviews for machines with much better warranty packages.
  • Slow Customer Service: If you do need replacement parts, don’t expect them to ship quickly. Customers have complained of waiting weeks for back-ordered parts for the 400 CT.

Proform CrossWalk 425 Treadmill Review

Proform CrossWalk 425 Treadmill

The Proform CrossWalk 425 treadmill is one of the best Proform models that features the patented upper body exercise bar.

However, just like other entry level treadmills, this one also comes with questionable quality.

Is It for You?

This machine is perfect for people who want a full body exercise while running on their treadmills. However, I highly doubt that this unit can take the pounding of an intense run. So if you’re a serious runner, I suggest you buy a treadmill not lower than $1,500. (See our best buy treadmills page)

Features and Benefits

For those who prefer light workouts, then this Proform’s Mach™ 1.3 CHP drive motor is a good option. It comes with up to 10mph speed and 10% incline. But due to its cheap parts, I don’t recommend you maximize this machine’s capabilities.

As I’ve said above, this treadmill boasts the patented upper body exercise bars which give you an upper body workout while running. It also features 2 CrossWalk® Calorie Workouts. These programs encourage you to use the upper body arms to burn more calories.

The 17” x 50” tread belt is pretty decent considering that this is a below $500 unit. Another feature is the ProSoft™ Plus impact reducing cushion which softens impact on your joints by up to 22% compared to road running for maximum joint protection.

The CrossWalk 425 treadmill also comes with a blue tinted LCD display. This attractive console displays your speed, time, distance, calories burned and pulse so you can monitor your progress during your exercise.

Another feature included with this model is the EKG™ heart rate monitor. It reads your pulse rate by placing your thumb on the sensor that is built on the console. This is perfect for those who workout using their target heart rate.

And finally the Crosswalk 425 boasts of a 3 year motor warranty. This warranty simply shows that Proform is confident with their motor. However, the 90 days parts and labor warranty proves that cheap parts were used in making this unit and that these parts won’t last long.

What This Treadmill Lacks

The Proform CrossWalk 425 treadmill comes with cheap parts which is why its quality and reliability is below average. But that is something to be expected with entry level treadmills. However, compared to other low-priced units, this one definitely provides better value.

Recommendation:

I do recommend the Proform CrossWalk 425 treadmill but only to those who can’t afford a more expensive model. This unit is one of the best in its price range but I would not recommend it to hardcore runners due to its cheap parts. So if you are a serious runner I suggest you visit our best buy treadmills page and choose a treadmill in the $1,500 or above price range.
