How did Tami Roman from Basketball Wives lose weight? The reality star has been super open about her struggle with her weight in the past, and she’s even admitted that she used diet pills to help her shed 30 pounds. But now that she’s rocking a new physique, she’s also gotten a lot of backlash on social media. On almost every photo she shares on Instagram, there is always someone who feels the need to criticize Tami for her weight.

“Too skinny, face sunken in,” one fan commented on a recent pic, and another wrote, “Beautiful but a too skinny… making look alot older than are.”

Basketball Wives fans watched Tami undergo a smart liposuction procedure on camera back in 2011, but a couple of years later — after she was diagnosed with diabetes and she quit smoking — she noticed the pounds were creeping back up. When she finally weighed herself, she realized that she was already at 185 pounds — and that’s when she decided to make a big change, according to Shape. She discovered the weight loss pill NV Clinical and that helped her lose 7 pounds in just one week, and she continued to use the product until she lost 30 pounds. Her weight loss journey was so successful that she even became the face of the company and starred in ads to promote the product.

But even with the help of diet pills, Tami said she was only able to get down to a size 10 or 12, and she admitted she hadn’t really taken her diabetes diagnosis seriously until she had a chat with her pal Halle Berry, who also had diabetes.

“I was talking to Halle, and she said ‘Tami, the truth of the matter is — you either wanna live or you wanna die. You can continue thinking what you think and doing what you’re doing, but you’re not going to be here long,’” Tami revealed to Madame Noire. “And that like really hit home for me. So I changed up my whole diet and eating and trying to be healthy and live right, and now people say I’m too skinny. Now, I’m a bobble head.”

Losing weight is nothing new for Tami Roman. Since she debuted on Basketball Wives in 2010, she’s slimmed down considerably. But within the last year, the 48-year-old, who already appeared to be in great shape, has slimmed down even more. It’s left people with questions and criticisms, which they haven’t been very mature about sharing. Photos of Roman have been riddled with comments about how some think she’s too small now, and others have just left insults. And while Roman has ignored the unwanted concerns, she decided to address them on Thursday and remind people that her new look has nothing to do with vanity, but rather, looking out for her health for the sake of her family.

“I didn’t lose weight, I lost my willingness to die. DIABETES IS NO JOKE!” she wrote on Instagram. The star has had diabetes for years.

“I Detox, suppress my appetite and make better food choices,” she said. “So enjoy yourself laughing, leaving negative comments & calling me a ‘crackhead’…but I have two beautiful daughters and I’m gon’ live for them by ANY means necessary”:

As previously mentioned, Roman lost weight in the past, and when she did, she had to deal with criticism then as well. And again, she pointed out that she’d changed her habits because of her diabetes.

“I have to hear how skinny I am on EVERY post. I am not trying, I have diabetes and this is just my world right now. I am fine and dealing with my illness accordingly,” she wrote back in 2014. “If you can’t handle me this way, please unfollow, because I don’t want to be reminded of something I already know and have no control over.”

And while people have always had a lot to say about her changing look, she seems just fine with her weight loss and happy to be healthy. Hit the flip to check out a few more images of a leaner Roman slaying for the ‘gram.

Tami Roman fans are concerned about the “Basketball Wives” star’s weight. A new photo of the reality star posted on her Instagram page even has her acknowledging her clear slimdown.

“Dear collarbone, long time no see. Glad to have you back in my life 😂😂😂😂🤷🏽‍♀️ only @styledbyudi will get this #MyG,” she captioned the Thursday, July 12 post.

In response, fans couldn’t help but sound off on Roman’s thin frame.

“Ummmm… I don’t follow regularly and I’m not on IG a lot but when this picture came up I was shocked. She looks emaciated. I understand the health issue but I have questions?!?”

“Suss, you on drugs?🤔”

“@tamiroman now your weight loss is beginning to appear unhealthy. Happened to me too. Ensure for a week will get you right #trust me.”

Other fans praised the star for tackling her health issues and getting in shape.

“She is getting healthy, eating correctly to keep her diabetes in control. Keep up your health journey @tamiroman, you look beautiful!”

“Damn!!! People so irritating UGH! She’s choosing a healthier lifestyle which means weight loss is a result smdh. She looks great and seems like she’s in a great place mentally, physically, and spiritually. Yes!!! @tamiroman do yo thang girl👏👏.”

Roman has opened up about her weight loss in the past, acknowledged that she is slimmer and explained it was due to her taking control of her health in the midst of a battle with diabetes. She even slammed co-star Evelyn Lozada for saying she looked “like a crackhead” because of the weight loss.

“I didn’t lose weight, I lost my willingness to die. DIABETES IS NO JOKE!” Roman wrote on IG in June. “I detox, suppress my appetite and make better food choices. So enjoy yourself laughing, leaving negative comments & calling me a ‘crackhead’… but I have two beautiful daughters and I’m gon’ live for them by ANY means necessary. 💯”

Youngblood shot down rumors of a breakup when he posted on Instagram: “Hate to let y’all down, but Tami and I are riding together until the wheels fall off. Folks hate to see people happy and prospering, but it won’t work! Keep spreading your lies, you look miserable out here.”

The reality star and pro athlete have been together since 2013 and their 17-year age difference has been a talking point on and major plot on BBW.

When Roman appeared on the daytime talker Sister Circle, she addressed marriage rumors and admitted that she’s down for martial life again. She was previously married to former NBA star Kenny Anderson, with whom she shares two daughters.

“I’m 48 and I don’t want to spend the rest of my life by myself. And this man genuinely loves me. And this is something that he wants and never experienced,” she said on Sister Circle. The Bonnet Chronicles host then noted that it would be “selfish” of her not to “travel down that road with someone who I really love and who loves me.”

In the Instagram photo, Roman was photographed without a ring on her finger.

While they haven’t attended many public events together over the years, Roman has shown lots of love for Reggie on social media. Tami and Reggie’s relationship has been one of the major plotlines in “Basketball Wives.” In the last season, Tami and Reggie don’t see eye-to-eye on having kids together and he’s even seen getting into an argument with her daughter Lyric.

In 2015, Tami and Reggie also appeared on Season 5 of “Marriage Boot Camp.”

They have reportedly been together since 2013.

Hopefully, Rosen and Reggie will address their marriage in the upcoming season of “Basketball Wives,” which returns this summer on VH1.

Roman has raved about her relationship in the past, saying last June that she and Youngblood were going to “take the step” towards tying the knot after previously saying she didn’t think she would get married.

“I’m 48 and I don’t want to spend the rest of my life by myself,” she said on Sister Circle Live. “And this man genuinely loves me. And this is something that he wants and never experienced. So I’d be selfish to not travel down that road with someone who I really love and who loves me.”

The union with Youngblood marks Roman’s second marriage, as she was married to NBA player Kenny Anderson before splitting in 2001. Roman and Anderson share two daughters, Lyric, 24, and Jazz, 22.

Biography

Tami Roman grew up in a middle-class, single-parent household in White Plains, NY. Since her mom worked three jobs to support the family, Tami spent many days and nights alone, undoubtedly a “latch-key” kid responsible for raising herself. It wasn’t until her mother met and married Ali Akbar that her childhood changed drastically. Ali, a devout Muslim, taught Tami the value of higher education, spiritual foundation and strong family values, although it was the Muslim culture that would subconsciously teach Tami that women should be submissive and eternally supportive of their husbands, as they are the head of the household.
Falling in line with the culture may have worked for Tami, but not her mother. Discovering that Ali had been unfaithful to her, Tami’s mother immediately divorced him, leaving Tami broken and confused–the only man that she associated unconditional love with was snatched away and the only woman she ever loved and respected became a hardened, cynical workaholic. Tami would spend the better part of her life trying to find love lost and working hard to never become as distant as her mother.
Over the next couple of years Tami and her mother would go through many trials and tribulations. They developed an incredibly close bond, so much so that they appeared to be more like sisters than mother and daughter. At one point they had to live on the streets for six months when her mother was unjustly terminated from her job, but they they stuck together, faced the toughest of storms and developed a relationship that would stand the test of time. Tami didn’t attend her prom and almost didn’t participate in her graduation ceremony because she couldn’t afford her cap and gown. All of life’s low points helped Tami and her mother to become strong, independent, knowledgeable, humble women who know, understand and appreciate the value of life.
Tami had thought about a career in the modeling field and when she had a chance to get a role on MTV’s hit reality series The Real World (1992) it seemed to be an answer to her prayers, and Tami’s and her mother’s lives suddenly took a major turn for the better.
Over the course of Tami’s career she has worked as a relief VJ for MTV, hosting MTV Beach House (1993), MTV Jams (1996), “Primetime MTV” and Rude Awakening (1998). Her career really ignited after her divorce in 2001. She has landed regular roles on several TV series, appeared in more than five pilots and got recurring roles on Summerland (2004), Sex, Love & Secrets (2005) and CBS’ vampire hit Moonlight (2007), made guest-starring appearances on several shows, including JAG (1995), One on One (2001), The Drew Carey Show (1995), Silk Stalkings (1991) and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (1996). She has also appeared in several independent films, including MacArthur Park (2001) with Thomas Jefferson Byrd, Hair Show (2004) with Mo’Nique, The Last Stand (2013) and Something Like a Business (2010) with Kevin Hart. However, proving she is a jack of all trades, Tami has been a weather correspondent for Los Angeles’ KTLA-TV news, co-air host of the revived game show Card Sharks (2001), and had a role on a “view” type talk show pilot with Telepictures.
She has owned her own consignment boutique and spearheaded an interior decorating firm in partnership with her mother. Tami definitely represents a diverse view of life.+ Her diversity and outspoken nature have made her the guest speaker of choice on a plethora of topics, although she is highly sought after in particular for relationship issues, women’s issues, inspirational panels, personal growth, celebrity oriented panels and hot celebrity gossip. In fact, Tami has already been a featured guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show (1986), 20/20 (1978), The Sharon Osbourne Show (2006), ESPN, E! News and several other outlets. Additionally, Tami was a featured speaker for the 2010 Circle of Sisters relationship panel with Laura Oz and radio personality Egypt.
Tami can be seen as the newest cast member on VH1’s hit reality show Basketball Wives (2010), which follows the lives of seven women linked to professional basketball players. “Basketball Wives” has consistently held over a million viewers since the show debuted in April 2010.
Tami is never satisfied with the obvious; she recognizes that show business is a “business”, and one has to capitalize when the iron is HOT!. Therefore, she has decided to take on some new challenges, one of which is writing her autobiographical memoir, entitled “The B.I.T.C.H. Chronicles”. “The B.I.T.C.H. Chronicles” is an in-depth, no-holds-barred look at Tami’s real world (no pun intended). She is also writing several screenplays, producing a short film and developing several reality show ideas.
Tami is a mother of three teenage girls and resides in Bogota, New Jersey, with her soul mate. Always involved in her daughters’ lives, she is working on securing a record deal for two daughters who have a hip-hop/r&b group and a fashion scholarship/internship for her stepdaughter.

Tami Roman Got Married…Last Year!

n Season 7 of Basketball Wives, a major part of Tami Roman‘s storyline, aside from arguing with Evelyn Lozada, was her aversion to marrying longtime boyfriend Reggie Youngblood.

Tami was once the wife of former NBA star Kenny Anderson. They were married in 1994, and share daughters Jazz and Lyric. But infidelity ultimately caused the marriage to fail and in 2001, they divorced.

However, the real thing that was holding her back, according to the 49-year-old actress and TV personality, was fear that Reggie would resent her if she didn’t want to go through with trying to have a baby following several miscarriages.

“I don’t want to travel that road with Reggie,” she told Jackie.

But as it turns out, they must have gotten over that hump because Tami and Reggie went ahead and tied the knot after all. According to The Blast, they secretly tied the knot in Las Vegas the same day they obtained a marriage license, which was on August 17, 2018.

Tami and Reggie, 32, have been dating for about four years.

Just this past January, Tami was mum about their marital status after being asked by Entertainment Tonight if they were still considering walking down the aisle.

“We’ve talked about it. We’ve kicked it around. We’re really good,” the actress said. “We’re in a good place and I don’t think we need to put any pressure on ourselves about having that piece of paper. When the moment presents itself, we’ll jump out there and do it.”

Guess that’s just what they did!

Reggie has been a regular face on Basketball Wives since their relationship became serious. They were also featured on WE TV’s Marriage Bootcamp: Reality Stars, where they quarreled over his desire to marry and have a child with her.

After working with the experts on the series, Tami had a change of heart, and while she initially said she wouldn’t do marriage, she started trying to have a child with him. In 2015, she announced she was six months pregnant on VH1’s now-defunct Love & Hip Hop Atlanta After Party Live. But a few weeks later, she revealed that she had miscarried.

“I am deeply saddened that after 10.5 weeks, we suffer this loss,” she told E! News at the time. “We knew this would be an uphill battle. We were up against the odds. I have a prolapsed uterus and am diabetic. I battle bouts of hypoglycemia due to my diabetes and my blood pressure continually ran high. We were prayerful, we had and still have faith. We are not giving up.”

We’ll see what the future holds for these two, whom we can now call Mr. and Mrs.

The father of Salt N’ Pepa’s, Spinderella, and Basketball Wives star, Tami Roman, is grateful to be alive today, after recently suffering a serious health scare that he’s is still recovering from. Many of you may remember 14-year NBA star, Kenny Anderson, who at the height of his career was in a public relationship with Spinderella and later married Tami.

Both relationships ended in shambles and left lingering bitterness and pain for all involved, including their kids. Before we recap their drama, let’s first get into Kenny’s health scare and recovery.

In February 2019, Kenny Anderson (49) was hospitalized after having a stroke. At that time, his wife, Natasha Anderson, thanked fans without giving many details:

“We would like to thank everyone for reaching out on behalf of Kenny. Our family is extremely grateful for all the prayers and love that we have received over the last few days. We appreciate you continuing to respect our privacy as Kenny heals.”

It was later reported that Kenny has high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but had stopped taking his meds, which somehow triggered the stroke.
