WHAT IS HCG?

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) hormone is a substance which occurs naturally in pregnant women which has the effect of releasing abnormal stored fat.

HOW LONG CAN I CONTINUE THESE INJECTIONS?

After 40 injections, the effectiveness diminishes due to the body’s ability to develop temporary immunity to the hCG. However, if necessary, subsequent courses of injections can be resumed after a 3-week Metabolic Recovery (Phase II). In some instances, 4 or more courses have been given with continued effectiveness if a 3-week interval has been allowed between them.

WHAT AFFECT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE INJECTION ITSELF?

Usually a loss of appetite occurs and patients notice that the severe compulsive hunger disappears completely.

HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT THE HCG & DIET ARE MORE EFFECTIVE THAN JUST THE ONE?

Unknown to the patient, weak saline solution was substituted for the hCG and weight loss continued for about 3 days. Thereafter, the patients complained of feeling weak or dizzy, became ravenously hungry and declared themselves unable to continue the treatment. As soon as treatment on hCG was resumed, they again felt fit and perfectly satisfied with their diets.

HAS THIS METHOD BEEN USED BEFORE?

Yes. When first reported in the medical journal The Lancet in November of 1954, it had been used in thousands of cases. Since then it has been used in many more.

WILL HCG WORK WITHOUT A DIET?

Although there is no dramatic weight loss without the accompanying diet, hCG usually causes a reduction in inches rather than pounds.

WILL I GET WRINKLES OR STRETCH MARKS IF I LOSE ALL THIS WEIGHT?

The treatment does not deplete the subcutaneous or other essential fat, therefore the face retains its freshness and natural appearance. Double chins, protruding stomachs, and fat around the thighs should be the first to go. Stretching of the skin generally causes stretch marks. This can occur with weight gain, not weight loss.

HOW DOES THIS REDUCING METHOD WORK?

Transformations has various methods to help our patients. However, if Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is used alone, the program is dependent upon the five weekly injections of the hCG hormone plus an exact diet.

CAN THIS BE HARMFUL IN ANY WAY?

Certain medical conditions prohibit the use of hCG. In general, hCG isn’t harmful. During pregnancy it is produced daily in a quantity hundreds of thousands of times the amount used for the treatment of obesity, yet it harms neither the mother nor the child.

CAN BOTH WOMEN AND MEN TAKE IT?

Yes. It has been used with equally good results in both.

HOW DOES HCG AND DIET WORK?

During pregnancy, Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is believed to help insure that the fetus will have access to its mother’s stored fat supply, regardless of the amount of her food intake. In overweight people, hCG seems to work by the same method – namely that of making available permanently stored supplies of fat, making it possible to adhere to the diet.

WILL IT AFFECT MY APPEARANCE?

Stability of the normal weight is relatively easy because the weight loss is from storage fat and not from structural fat.

WHAT IF I MISS ONE OR MORE OF THE INJECTIONS?

This merely delays the total effectiveness of the program.

CAN I MAINTAIN THE DIET EVEN IF I ENGAGE IN DAILY HARD PHYSICAL LABOR?

Yes. HCG allows you to maintain this diet even during hard work.

WHAT ABOUT PROTEIN OR VITAMIN DEFICIENCIES DURING THIS DIET?

None has been observed with this method due to the stored quantities of both in the fat. However, supplements are available at very modest prices.

WHAT IF I OCCASIONALLY GET JITTERY OR SHAKY DUE TO THE REDUCED QUANTITY OF FOOD?

A 15 calorie Lifesaver or Charm, when necessary, usually controls this and does not interfere with the weight loss.

CAN MY OVERWEIGHT CHILDREN USE THIS PROGRAM?

No. These injections are not advisable for persons under the age of puberty. Other methods are available for these cases.

APART FROM ITS ACTION ON FAT, ARE THERE ANY OTHER ACTIONS OR SIDE EFFECTS TO THE INJECTION OF HCG THAT I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT?

Yes, there seems to be some stimulation to the generative system. Premenstrual difficulties may be relieved. Abnormal loss of head hair in obese individuals may cease. Brittle fingernails may become normal and professional singers may note an improvement in their voices. Blood pressure tends to normalize, cholesterol readings become normal, arthritis symptoms are lessened. No adverse reactions to the injections have been experienced.

DO YOU GUARANTEE THAT I WILL LOSE WEIGHT WITH THIS METHOD?

No. Guarantees cannot be made, as with any other medical treatment. However, most of our patients have lost an appreciable amount of weight with this program. It is the most effective method we have experienced in weight reduction.

WHAT IF I DO NOT LOSE VERY MUCH?

Our experience has been that in cases where there is no, or slow weight loss, a very common cause is the patient’s depressed metabolism. This is frequently caused by past dieting, chronic low intake, etc. WE CAN CORRECT THIS. Slow weight loss can also be due to associated medical problems, which should be sought out and corrected. Once this is accomplished, weight loss occurs.

ARE THERE OTHER PRODUCTS COMPARABLE TO METABOLIC ENHANCER?

Other products claim to provide some of the same results as Metabolic Enhancer! However, due to the grade of the components used and the exacting production process, which corporate has personally witnessed, Metabolic Enhancer consistently delivers the desired results that our patients demand and expect from Transformations’ products. WHAT EFFECTS WILL METABOLIC ENHANCER HAVE ON MY BODY?

HOW DOES METABOLIC ENHANCER WORK?

6 Ways to Make Your Health Transformation Last

1. Think slow and steady.

Take a look at the progress you’ve seen so far: “For weight loss, you should only be dropping half a pound to two pounds per week,” says Kacie Vavrek, R.D., a dietitian at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Otherwise, you may need to adjust your calorie intake a bit (eat more if you’re dropping pounds too quickly, or vice versa). You can use an all-inclusive tracking tool like the Nokia Body+ (which helps you monitor your weight and BMI) and Health Mate app (which helps you record your daily water and food intake) that work together so you can cross-reference how your diet may be affecting your weight over time.

Resist the urge to go all-out on your diet and exercise to see more significant changes on the scale. An extreme approach often leads to burnout, says Erin Risius, L.P.C., a healthy psychology expert and wellness counselor at Hilton Head Health. Remember: Consistency is key.

2. Forget the formal diet.

Even if you’ve seen initial success with a specific diet-say, the Whole30 or ketogenic diet-that doesn’t mean it’s going to work long term. In fact, most people who see success on a restrictive diet later gain back the weight they lost (and sometimes more) when they go off the diet, says Vavrek. Research backs this up: Although dieters typically lose 5 to 10 percent of their body weight in the first six months of a diet, between one-third and two-thirds of people regain more weight than they’d lost within the next four or five years, according to researchers from UCLA who analyzed 31 long-term studies. Since the diet likely isn’t something you can handle doing on a long-term basis, your success won’t be long term either. (The anti-diet is the healthiest diet you can be on.)

If you’re on a diet right now, here’s your game plan: Slowly start including small portions of foods you enjoy eating, whether that’s slowly turning up your carbohydrate intake or adding a sweet treat each day until you’re at a sustainable balance, says Vavrek.

“The key is to avoid the all-or-nothing mindset,” says Risius. “When you’re eating in a way that’s nourishing, but doesn’t feel depriving, and moving your body in a way that you enjoy and feels good, you can ditch the means-to-an-end mindset and shift toward a lifestyle mindset.”

3. Tune in to non-scale victories.

“One of the reasons people lose motivation-even if they’re making progress-is because they’re impatient to reach the end goal,” says Rusius. “Healthy weight loss is never as fast as we want it to be, so it’s important to note all the positive shifts in our lives as we strive toward that goal.”

Do you have more energy? Clearer skin? Are you feeling stronger? Acknowledging these non-scale victories helps remind you that health isn’t all about an end goal, but about making a lifelong lifestyle change for the better.

Your plan: Try making mini non-scale goals for yourself that act as stepping stones to your main goal. Reward yourself (with anything other than food, says Vavrek) if you make it to the gym a certain number of times per week, ate your goal number of veggie servings per day, hit your water goal for the week, and so on. 4. Mix it up.

As your body changes, so should your nutrition game plan. “As you lose weight, you’ll need to adjust your calories,” says Vavrek. When you’re lighter, your body doesn’t need as many calories for energy. For example, a moderately active 30-year-old woman who’s 5 feet and 5 inches tall will burn about 120 calories more per day at 150 pounds than at 120 pounds, according to the Harris–Benedict formula (which calculates the basal metabolic rate, or calories burned at rest).

That’s one reason it’s important not to start out with too large a calorie deficit. As you lose weight, you’ll need to decrease your intake, and if you’re already running on E, that’ll be difficult (if not impossible) to maintain.

Plus, existing on a calorie deficit and losing weight usually results in reduced muscle mass-which isn’t great, because lean muscle burns calories and helps keep your metabolism high. All this means you’ll eventually plateau, says Vavrek.

It’s not hopeless. First, not all calories are created equal. Focus on meals with protein, healthy fats, and fibers, says Vavrek. Those nutrients take longer to digest, which can help keep you feeling full. If you’re feeling excessively tired or hungry, those are signs you may need to increase your overall calorie intake, says Vavrek. To prevent more muscle mass loss, try eating smaller meals with protein more often and make sure to strength train on the regular, she says.

5. You can’t rely on just diet or just exercise.

That’s right-another way to prevent muscle mass loss is by hitting the gym, and especially those heavy weights. (Start with this beginner’s guide to lifting heavy.)

“A lot of people try to lose weight without exercise, but then you end up losing muscle mass and slowing down your metabolism,” says Vavrek. Ditto with only hitting the gym, but leaving your diet alone: “If you’re working out really hard but eating whatever you want, you’re not in a calorie deficit and won’t lose weight.”

That’s why research shows that people who are the most successful with weight management have the diet controlled, but stay active enough to maintain muscle mass and keep their metabolism high, she says.

6. Stop thinking of bad days as “bad.”

One day of treating yourself or celebrating isn’t going to ruin your progress, says Vavrek: “Just don’t let that one day turn into a whole week.” And if it’s not going to ruin your progress, it’s not bad. It’s just allowing yourself to enjoy life.

“If you’re rooted in the all-or-nothing, perfectionistic mindset, you’ll likely see a lapse as a reason to quit trying altogether,” says Risius. “The process of behavior change is an ebb and flow, so when you hit a wall, simply re-evaluate your game plan and keep moving forward.”

Maybe you need to take it down a few notches. (Remember: Doing something is always better than doing nothing.) Also gather support through friends, family, and/or professionals who can provide gentle accountability to help you get back on track. Part of maintaining healthy habits for life includes surrounding yourself with people who are on the same page.

“I really like the 80/20 rule,” says Vavrek. “It means that if you can eat healthfully 80 percent of the time, you can allow yourself freedom with that 20 percent and still have foods you enjoy. It’s something you can live with long after you’ve reached your goal.”

How much does this program cost?
We have an initial fee of $150 and then the average cost of the food is between $90-$120 per week. Your supplements average out to be just under $2.00 per day.

What does the initial fee include?
The initial fee, is a one-time fee that includes the fee to join, the ability to purchase product on an ongoing basis and the ability to meet with your health coach weekly to establish your progress, (all the way until you hit your goal AND in maintenance). We require a monthly maintenance visit as well, but that visit is not a charged visit. We also do not require the food in maintenance although you can.

Is the food covered under the LINK card?
No, unfortunately they do not and there is no insurance that currently covers the cost, as well. Any medical visit or labs will be covered under your normal insurance.

Do I have to attend an info session to get started?
We do ask you to attend an informational small group or large information session unless your schedule just does not allow we will arrange something one on one. We have a variety of dates and times available for information sessions each month so we hope that one of those works for your schedule.

Why do I need to attend an information session?
So you can learn about the program, how it works, what results you can expect, what is required on your part and if it is the right program for you.

Why do I have to meet with a health coach weekly?
Research has shown that meeting with your coach weekly greatly improves your success in reaching your goal weight and also keeping the weight off after you have completed the program.

How does “being hungry” affect my weight loss?
Try to think of “being hungry” as a good thing. When we feel those hunger pains that means our body is definitely in the fat burning mode. To help lessen those pains try to drink more water and make sure your meals are no more than 4 hours apart.

I only had one piece of cake. But I didn’t cheat the rest of the week. Why didn’t I still lose weight?
Your body best burns fat when it is in ketosis. When you feed your body carbohydrates, especially simple carbohydrates paired with fats your body will not burn fat. Eating the cake is a prime culprit of the “no no” combination of high carb high fat with little to no essential nutrients. The best thing we can do in this situation is get back on track right away with our phase 1 diet.

What does the *RR mean on the food order invoice?
The double R on the invoice means that food is “double restricted” and should only be consumed a couple of times per week. The *RR foods have even more calories and carbs per serving in them than the regular restricted foods.

Should I exercise?
For most people, yes. It is important for your overall health to keep moving. It is important that your heart rate does not become too high during exercise while on phase 1 of the program because you risk burning muscle mass. We recommend walking and light strength training at an intensity that you can still carry on a conversation. Maintaining your lean muscle mass will help you keep the weight off once you reach maintenance because your resting metabolism, is in large part impacted by your muscle mass. We have strength training programs that are appropriate for phase 1 that we can give you.

What kinds of toning exercises should I do?
There are a lot of possibilities. Yoga and Pilates are safe choices, along with exercises using light weights, a stability ball, resistance bands, and your own body weight. Focusing on core strength is always a good idea and can often help with chronic back pain. See your health coach for specific exercises.

I’ve been taking kickboxing classes for months, do I have to stop?
We would advise for you to take a break from this while on Phase 1 as the intensity for this class is too high. Try replacing this with something less intense, like a yoga class or lower intensity bike ride.

Why can’t I have alcohol on Phase 1?
The process of burning ketones takes place in your liver. When there is alcohol in your system the liver will process that first and stop processing ketones until the alcohol is removed from the your system. Alcohol also causes your blood sugar to drop. Since you already have low amounts of sugar in your system this could cause dizziness or you may even faint.

Will the supplements upset my stomach?
It is best to take the supplements as we suggest, with your meals and with food. If you realize you cannot do the supplements in the morning, you can move them to another meal of the day or take before bed time.
If you realize you just aren’t tolerating the supplements, please talk to your health coach and perhaps an alternative can be found.

Does this diet provide too much protein? Isn’t that bad for my kidneys?
The diet does not provide too much protein. It provides the right amount of protein to maintain muscle mass, keep you vital and supplies all of the essential amino acids in the best way possible (the least amount of calories with high biological value protein and good taste)!

Can I eat fruit?
Fruit is not permitted on the phase one portion of the diet. The fruit will not make you gain weight but can slow down the weight loss and even prevent you from losing.

Can I chew sugarless gum?
Not recommended as sugarless gum could also contain carbs and sugar. You are better off not chewing it.

I can’t eat anymore Lettuce…..How am I going to do this in maintenance?
Try mixing up the lettuce. Make your salad different every day! Use lettuce to wrap around your animal protein instead of eating it in a bowl or a plate.

Will I ever be able to eat “regular” food again?
Yes, you will have ‘regular” food again, keeping in mind you will be practicing portion control and serving sizes. You will need to adopt a healthy lifestyle to become more aware of unneeded calories, carbs, fats and sugars and identify any emotional eating patterns.

Can you go out to eat on this diet?
As we know not all restaurants list their nutrition facts on their menus, but many of them do list their nutrition facts online. So if you are going out to eat it would be best to look up the nutrition information ahead of time. Many restaurants prepare their food with extra fat. If the nutrition information is not available you may eat out but go to a place where you know you can get meat and vegetables, or at least a salad with meat and some vegetables on it. We have a quick reference restaurant guide at the Transformations clinic for some suggested places to eat out at. Just ask your health coach for a copy.

Is there aspartame in your products?
No, there is no aspartame in our products. Many of products do contain sucralose which is an artificial sweetener that sweetens our puddings, shakes and some of the restricted snacks too. You may also do the program without doing sucralose too. Even someone who is lactose intolerant or ingest milk products can also the program.
