3 Ways to Buy Celebrity Stock Photos Immediately (+ exciting Tips)

Any kind of celebrity photo you’re looking for, Getty Images has it. They display collections by topic, event and date, making it easy for you to find exactly what you’re looking for. But Getty works with Rights Managed licenses, customizing price of photos according to the use you want to make of them. This commonly comes at a higher price than most Royalty-Free photos at microstock agencies.

Getty Images’ Best Value Offer: UltraPacks for Celebrity Stock Photos

Now Getty Images has a great offer for photo buyers: the UltraPacks. These are image packs that you pay upfront and can use to download images whenever you want. As long as you log in to your account at least once in the year after purchase, the downloads you bought never expire. An extra benefit is you don’t have to preselect the photos you want to buy, but only estimate how many you’ll need and pay them upfront.

Getty Images Ultra Packs Price

UltraPacks are from 5 images for $800 up to 25 images for $3,250 for their highest resolution. This way you can save from 10% to 30% from regular image prices. There’s lower-priced packs for lower resolution images, and you can also buy larger packs via their sales team. You can buy different UltraPacks simultaneously, and there’s no periodic fees with this offer. Get your Getty Images UltraPack now!

UltraPacks include most of Getty’s Editorial Rights Managed photos as well as all Creative Royalty-Free collections for photos and video. This offer’s Editorial license comes with extra rights like unlimited print run and impressions and ability to share downloads with your team members or clients; but they also include restrictions like a 15-year period for image usage and prohibition to use photos in print covers.

If your budget can afford it, Getty Images is the best place to get celebrity photos!

What’s a Good and Cheaper Alternative to Getty Images?

The answer is: . They’re one of the top microstock agencies, and they only sell Royalty Free stock photos (this means you pay a flat fee to use the photos). In the last year they’ve expanded their offer for editorial content, and now they have a huge supply of famous celebrity stock photos. See our full review of here!

In 2015, acquired the press photo agency Rex Features. Rex focuses in editorial imagery, and has a very big archive as well as millions of fresh photos of celebrities in different events. operates Rex Features as a separate brand and website. To find out more about ‘s perspective and plans for Rex Features, check out our interview with ‘s VP Ben Pfeiffer here!

That same year they closed a few partnership deals with other suppliers, whom bring thousands of high quality celebrity stock photos to ‘s galleries. Penske Media is an international media conglomerate producing pro-style celebrity photos from exclusive, A-class events and venues; BFA, a photo agency specializing in fashion photos and covering high-profile fashion events and venues; Associated Press, famous global news photo agency; all of them now supply photos for collections.

Ben Pfeiffer, now Senior VP at , tells us that “While we continue to expand our editorial offering, we are focused on offering the highest quality of content across a broad range of editorial subjects”. And they are making it: in the past year they added photos from over 1000 top class celebrity events, including the Oscars and the Golden Globes, and achieved to have exclusive photos from inside the Met gala, one of the biggest celebrity fashion events in the US. Ben says “It is important that we leverage our technology to improve the processes that are in place and deliver stronger offering to our customers”, and this was one of the reasons founder and CEO Jon Oringer was shooting at the TriBeCa Film Festival recently.

However, ‘s celebrity editorial content is only available to customers to Premier and Enterprise service. To access these collections you must have a Premier or Enterprise account, as they’re not available in their general galleries. These accounts have a different price than regular subscriptions, but they come with this and other bonus benefits. Sign up for here! And you save more money with our Coupon Code!

The other way is to buy directly from Rex Features. To do this, you must sign up on their website first. Keep in mind Rex’s prices depend on the intended use for the images, and their license can be adjusted to fit the buyer’s needs, but their standard terms include a one-time use requirement (meaning the photo can only be used in only one placement, only once. If you want to use the same photo again, you must buy a new license).

Getty or ?

is now a strong competitor to Getty Images in celebrity editorial photos, but this is a market segment they’re new to. has always been focused in commercial, Royalty-Free photos.

Getty Images on the other hand has dominated in editorial stock for decades. They count with many distributors and supplier partners, and they also have their own network of photographers shooting celebrity photos for them -sometimes exclusively-.

‘s photographers network is not comparable to that of Getty, at least for now, because they put more effort in partnerships. But they both have great quality and even exclusive celebrity photos.

What Types of Celebrity Photos Can You Buy?

There’s a lot of different kinds of celebrity photos. First, of course, celebrities come from different backgrounds: entertainment (films, TV, music, theatre), fashion, sports, etc. But then there’s differences regarding content and style of the images.

PR (Public Relations) images are photos that celebrities or their PR manager have authorized specifically to be used in press. You can also get candid shots: spontaneous and non-posed photos from red carpet or any other moments in public events. Studio photos are rarer to get in stock photography agencies: these are shots depicting celebrities in an artistic production (like portraitures for example). Then there’s papparazzi photos, which are candid and often taken without the celebrity’s knowledge or consent. Papparazzi photos are not often found in stock agencies: the photographers tend to negotiate their licensing price directly with the publishers.

Getty Images has a huge variety in PR, candid and even studio shots (they have Contour by Getty, a specific collection of celebrities portraits). also has millions of images in all the styles in their Premium segment.

What Can you Do and What Can’t you Do with Celebrity Photos?

Most stock photography agencies sell celebrity photos with an Editorial license. This license lets you use celebrity photos in print or digital media (magazines, newspapers, blogs, etc) as part of articles, to illustrate them, and some other non-profitable uses.

If you want to use celebrity photos in any other way, say, as part of a design to sell, as part of a product to be sold, or to promote your site or business, you need a Commercial license. Practically no stock photo agency offers this, so if you want a Commercial license to a celebrity photo, you must get the license and needed permission from the said celebrity yourself.

Plus, Editorial licenses for celebrity photos come with some restrictions. Besides prohibiting to use the photos for commercial intention, they also forbid photos to be altered or edited -this means no cropping, resizing, excessive retouching, etc.-, and they cannot be used in a defamatory way (meaning any way that gives a negative connotation to the celebrity’s persona). Plus, some agencies like ‘s Rex Features introduce further limitations: they don’t allow photos to be used in social media nor mobile platforms; however, these rights can be negotiated directly with them.

You must keep in mind that celebrities use their likeness and public persona for business purposes: they lend their name and image to promote brands and products, and to marketing themselves and their work. Therefore they’re very protective about their image and how people use it.

Always make sure you understand the licensing terms for celebrity photos, what you’re allowed to do with the photos and what is not allowed, and that you’re using the photos in a consented way.

How to Use Celebrity Photos for your Blog, Magazine or other publications

The Editorial license is perfect for this: with this license you can use photos in your blog or publication as long as it’s to illustrate a topic or article and not as part of a template or web design, nor for promotional purposes.

Get great celebrity photos for your blog on Getty Images Editorial here!

Get high quality celebrity photos for your articles in now! Remember that to get the top-class content you’ll need a Premier or Enterprise subscription!

Keep in mind that Standard Editorial licenses may include restrictions to number of copies allowed, and you might need an Extended license to get a higher allowance or unlimited copies.

How to Get Permission to Use Celebrity Photos Commercially?

As celebrities image is part of their personal brand and business, the majority of them do not grant royalty-free commercial licenses for their photos, because they want to be able to control who uses their image for profit, and how and why they do it. The only commercial license available for celebrity photos is Rights Managed.

While Getty Images, Rex Features and other agencies work with Rights Managed licenses, they do it for Editorial use only. They specify in their terms that they do not grant nor facilitate model releases nor permissions to use celebrity photos commercially.

So, how to be able to use celebrity photos commercially? You need to find and contact the celebrity’s manager, and negotiate with said celebrity a fee for your intended use of their photos. This is commonly a much higher price than Editorial and that most of commercial RF photos.

But here’s a curious tip that could sometimes be used as a hack: Some celebrities modeled for stock photos in their early days, before being famous. Although often dated, those images are also commonly model-released and available for commercial use with an RF license (therefore, much cheaper). Sometimes once the model reaches celebrity status, they negotiate with the photographers to retrieve the images and take them out of circulation. If you really need to buy a celebrity photo to use commercially but you can’t work with their schedule and fees, you can try and fish out for their pre-fame stock photos. Some examples of celebrities with a stock photo past are actors Bradley Cooper and John Boyega.

Back in 2017, Bella Thorne was arguably at the forefront of the push for body-hair self-acceptance, with an Insta of her leg hair blowing the topic wide open in June. Via Snapchat, she wrote, “Ok fine. I’ll shave,” but this was no peer pressure moment. Thorne’s been speaking out for her grooming choices since 2016, and whether livestreaming a bikini wax or clapping back at trolls on on Twitter, she’s demonstrated you can engage with different perspectives while standing your ground.

Brooklyn Decker

Brooklyn Decker once asked her Instagram followers to play Count the Chins—and now her son’s gotten into the game. She captioned this ‘gram: “The moment your child grabs your neck skin and laughs ‘gobble gobble!'” Thank you, @krissyae for capturing this on camera??”

Elizabeth Banks

Elizabeth Banks’ honesty and sense of humor are always a bright spot but especially so when she’s taking on self-image. Banks used a #TBT moment to get real about her self-esteem, writing, “Acne. Frizz. Haircuts by my friend @sorayaweddings and homemade jewelry cuz money was tight.”

She continued: “Like now, I had days when I felt beautiful and proud and days when I felt low and despondent. Like now, I mostly tried not to worry about what I look like because I also have a powerful brain, lots of abilities, kindness and creativity and at the end of the day, those inner qualities are what I value the most about myself. But yeah, looking fine feels good too so, ya know, #balance The thing I know now that I didn’t back then is that any energy I put into looking cute has to be about me and not about pleasing or attracting anybody else. Being praised for my looks is nice but not nearly as satisfying as being praised for my accomplishments or deeds.”

Ashley Graham

Ashley Graham’s stardom has been both inspirational and a long, long time coming. Between several Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue shoots, collabs with size-inclusive Swimsuits for All, and speaking out as a body positive icon for women of all sizes, Graham has a ton of irons in the fire. But at the core of everything remains her dedication to giving her best effort and an honest representation of the not-perfect day-to-day that entails. Her caption on this Instagram summed it up: Capturing her stretch marks and cellulite, Graham wrote, “I workout. I do my best to eat well. I love the skin I’m in. And I’m not ashamed of a few lumps, bumps or cellulite.. and you shouldn’t be either.”

Graham continued to be super open about the changes her body went through during her first pregnancy. “Same same but a little different,” she captioned a photo in August.

Gabrielle Union

It’s hard to look at Gabrielle Union and not see a crazy beautiful unicorn frozen in time, but she too runs into funny (read annoying) skin hijinks. No zit should get in the way of celebrating a fresh haircut, so Union captioned her newly blond selfie with, “Loving the new do… My zit also loves it 👀”

Chrissy Teigen

Along with the period acne Insta related to around the world, Chrissy Teigen once posted a viral photo prominently displaying some stretch marks (plus thigh bruises she got while working in the kitchen). “Stretchies say hi!” reads her caption.

Kourtney Kardashian applauded for not editing out her stretch marks in a swimsuit picture

Kourtney Kardashian is proudly flaunting her “little stripes.”

The oldest Kardashian/Jenner sibling shared a picture of herself confidently rocking a black one-piece swimsuit on the official Instagram account of Poosh, her lifestyle brand.

And her followers couldn’t help but notice one thing: Her visible stretch marks.

Kardashian, 40, opted to post the photo from her Italian vacation without any Photoshop or edits, which drew praise from fans who commended her for embracing her flaws.

“Thank you so much for not editing out your stretch marks!” user @mollyetoile3 wrote.

The mother of three replied, “I love my little stripes 😊”

‘Teach your sons:’Kourtney Kardashian talks Menstrual Hygiene Day in bikini pic

Some followers said Kardashian inspired them to accept their own imperfections.

“Those stretch marks are giving me life & helping me embrace mine. So gorg,” @_charityclay_ wrote, while @sicasanchezchen added: “Not editing gives women more confidence to show off theirs.”

Others applauded the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star for promoting body positivity.

“Just have to say that it’s so nice to see women who (love) their skin & aren’t afraid to rock their stretch marks,” @joannaslivkoff commented. @lisamedina1023 added, “This is what a real body looks like!”

‘I’m with Whoopi’:Meghan McCain agrees with ‘The View’ hosts on Kourtney Kardashian criticism

Kardashian has shared several smokin’ pictures from her vacation over the past couple of weeks, including one of herself in a that shows off her rock-hard abs.

As her trip wound down, the Poosh owner reflected on her good fortune and journey with her three children – Mason, 9, Penelope, 7 and Reign, 4 – with ex Scott Disick.

“Wow, I just had the most beautiful night with my kids watching the sunset, feeling overwhelmingly grateful for this past few weeks spent together in Italy and so in awe of God’s creation there was nothing for me to do but cry (happy tears),” she wrote.

We all look back on our high school yearbook photos and sigh. Did we ever think our hair looked good that way? How many bottles of hairspray did it take to get it to stand so high? Those were the days of the past! When it comes to celebrities, when we see them on the big and small screens, we assume they’ve always looked this good. They’ve lived a charmed life and they grew up with fame, right? While some of them may have started in the industry at a young age, they have certainly changed over the years, whether they like it or not. In fact, some of their high school yearbook photos are hard to recognize. It might look like a hint of them, but not much more! We all change…even stars!

16 Ryan Seacrest

Via: ranker.com

Many times as you stare at an old photo of a bona fide star, you can see a little bit of them in their past. Perhaps it’s the eyes, the teeth, the way they smile, or something else. But this one? We don’t see it. Where is Ryan Seacrest in this kid? Ryan is one of the most recognizable and stylish men in Hollywood. His smooth voice never gives out and he never seems to have a hair out of place. It’s hard to imagine that he would be caught dead in those glasses with his shirt wide open in that manner. Perhaps his style evolved over the years or maybe he didn’t become fixated on appearance until later in his life. Whatever it is, this is one picture he could deny and we’d believe him!

15 Snoop Dogg

Via: celebyearbookphotos.com

Whenever we sit around and think about Snoop Dogg (because really, who doesn’t?), we know that he has a past. In fact, he was born Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. But as an American rapper, Calvin wasn’t doing it for him and so he went with Snoop Doggy Dogg and other monikers instead. Whenever you see Snoop on TV with his swagger and his dread locks swinging along with his large chains and outlandish jewelry, it’s hard to imagine him as anything else. Especially a young gentleman who looks like he has a normal style and outlook on life. This young man looks like he wants to be a banker or an insurance salesman, not a famous rapper! When it comes to the bank account, we suppose he made the right choice.

14 Megan Fox

Via: pinterest.com

It’s easy enough to admit that Megan Fox has always been beautiful, but it’s hard to place her as this fresh-faced young girl. She started acting in 2001 with some small TV and film roles, but with things under her belt now like Transformers, she’s a big star at the moment. She’s also considered a huge sex symbol today and has appeared in magazines like Rolling Stone, Maxim and FHM. While she was pretty as a young girl, it’s hard to line that up with the sultry pout and sexy stare she gives off today. She learned how to look at a camera along the way as she gained hair and makeup professionals to perfect her appearance. Some people age into their looks and others age out. She definitely came into hers.

13 Madonna

Via: ranker.com

Madonna is known for being a singer/songwriter as well as an actress and a businesswoman. She was a leading presence in the MTV world as it emerged in the 1980s. She’s pushed the boundaries of lyrics in popular mainstream music over the years and her visual imagery in videos and live performances have reinvented the field as well. Though she’s been called the “Queen of Pop” because of her influence, she started out pursing a career in modern dance. It’s hard to equate the girl with the sleepy-eyes stare and dark hair with the blonde bombshell we know as Madonna today. Did she always have that confidence or did it come on as the record sales rose higher and higher and the auditoriums filled faster?

12 Taylor Swift

Via: vulture.com

Taylor Swift is one of the most popular contemporary female recording artists of today. She narrates her personal life through her songs and has received widespread media coverage over the years, especially revolving around her love life. She’s won more awards than she can count and has become one of the most influential people in the world and one of the top powerful women according to different magazine rankings. All that at such a young age and still, we can’t recognize her from pictures that were only taken about 10 years ago. Perhaps it’s the cornrows or maybe it’s the lack of cat eye makeup and bright red lips. Either way, we’d never guess this little girl would turn into the country superstar with such high-profile relationships.

11 Winona Ryder

Via: seventeen.com

If you enjoyed movies in the ’90s, you know Winona Ryder’s work well. She became popular from her goth role in Beetlejuice and continued her popularity in the cult film Heathers. With Golden Globes and Academy Awards, she’s done it all. Most recently, she’s in the Netflix Original supernatural horror series Stranger Things and she’s been nominated for awards there as well. When looking back over the roles, she’s a beautiful actress in both form and appearance. It’s hard to look at this punk kid and see someone who can change into anyone they want to be in order to present a story. The tomboy look wasn’t really working for her so perhaps she changed it up to better suit her career path. It seems to have worked for her.

10 Alec Baldwin

Via: seventeen.com

Alec Baldwin is someone who has been in the business for a long time. It’s hard to pinpoint what he’s best known for because he’s been in so much. He’s the oldest of the four Baldwin brothers, all of whom are actors. He’s won Emmy Awards, Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards. He’s also earned some bad press revolving around tumultuous divorces and comments about his daughter. But when looking at his high school photo, would you ever guess he had all that coming in his future? Actually, he looks quite a bit like his brother Daniel, but the young eyes and overabundance of hair hide the way his features have morphed into his appearance today. Does he want to go back into that suit or is he happier now?

9 Avril Lavigne

Via: vulture.com

Today, Avril Lavigne is a singer-songwriter and actress who hails from Canada. Despite her modern fame, when she was in school, she looked like an everyday girl who may have even been teased by the popular kids. Luckily, she started to appear on stage with Shania Twain at 15 and signed a two-record deal by 16. Her punk rock driven style isn’t what you would guess about her based on that high school photo. In fact, it’s hard to tell that was even her. She’s also started acting, designing clothing and putting our perfumes. In her school days, she was sometimes kicked out of class for misbehaving, which is also not something you would guess based on the picture. She looks quite nice and innocent! She morphed into the punk rocker of today in due time.

8 Kirstie Alley

Via: ranker.com

Kirstie Alley is nothing less than a bombshell. She is a comedic and actress and she has been known as a spokesmodel over the years as well. Her best role was in Cheers, but she’s gotten Golden Globes, Emmy Awards and several others. Before she acted, she was an interior designer, but you wouldn’t guess that career path from her high school photo. She looks like an everyday gal with her high hair and cute smile. Her bombshell tendencies blossomed later in life as she became well-known for her public weight battle as well as her broad career as an actress. There aren’t many similarities to her photo now and then, especially when it comes to her hair, but she was likely funny even in those days and that part hasn’t changed a bit.

7 Jack Nicholson

Via: celebrityyearbookphotos.com

Is it just us or does the young Jack Nicholson look more like Leonardo DiCaprio than himself? While they have been in several movies together, it’s hard to mix the two of them up today. Nicholson’s fame is unparalleled in that he’s the most nominated actor when it comes to Academy Awards. And he’s won plenty of them as well. Along with a long list of films and awards, he’s well-known in every genre. He often plays someone who rebels against the social structure as well as psychopathic characters. While his gravelly voice and side grin are easy to recognize today, he doesn’t look much like he did in the past. Perhaps it’s the fame and fortune that changed him over the years or maybe just good old-fashioned aging.

6 Tara Reid

Via: shefinds.com

Nothing takes you from covered up to baring it all faster than Hollywood. Tara Reid is known for a lot of high school roles movie, but she doesn’t look like she did in high school in films like American Pie. Her look has morphed quite a bit over the years as she recognized the benefits of straight hair. She has been in and out of the media over the years for a variety of not-so-pleasant reasons, but at least her work hasn’t suffered as she appears in blockbuster Netflix films of the Sharknado variety. She’s been acting since the age of 6, but it wasn’t until she hit the big screen that she became unrecognizable from past pictures. When the hair gets blonder and the eyeliner gets thicker, it changes things.

5 Sarah Palin

Via: msn.com

Apparently Sara Palin has always had a welcoming smile and bright eyes, but she hasn’t always had the polished look she does today. Age changes everyone, but it doesn’t always change style. Some people have the same haircut their whole life and others change with the times. Sarah seems to have gotten better with age in the hair department as she learned the styles she can create with longer hair. Couple that with some makeup knowledge and stylish glasses and she’s revamped her look quite a bit. It’s just hard to look at the innocent young girl in the photo and see the famous politician she will become someday. Perhaps she always had her eye on politics or maybe those goals changed along with her hair and overall style.

4 Elizabeth Banks

Via: seventeen.com

These now and then photos show us what a difference hair and makeup professionals can make in a person. Granted, Elizabeth Banks was in high school back when big hair was a good thing. But it’s hard to line her up against that photo and know for sure that it’s really her. The fresh-faced look is lovely, but she matured into her style and now that we know her for over-the-top roles like Effie in the Hunger Games movies, it’s hard to imagine that she ever looked anything but highly made up. With red carpet style and plenty of film to her credit, she’s a true movie star. Surely she was born that way. What? She has a past? With not so grand photos? No way!

3 Victoria Beckham

Via: vulture.com

The Spice Girls legend, Victoria Beckham, hasn’t always been posh. In fact, she was downright adorable when she was in school. We can get past the ponytail and the bangs because reality is, that was the style in those days. What stops us from recognizing the little girl as a future fashion icon is the smile. When was the last time you saw Victoria Beckham smile in a photo? This school picture may have been the last time. It’s hard to place her as a young girl who had normal views on photographs. You smile for the camera and that’s that. Perhaps she got tired of that adorable look and wanted to go for something different as she aged in the Hollywood world. Posh Spice, indeed.

2 Jeff Bridges

Via: shefinds.com

Jeff Bridges is a producer, actor and even a singer. He comes from a prominent acting family and you could say that acting is in his blood. He’s been in so many movies, it’s hard to pinpoint where you might have seen him last. But you certainly wouldn’t guess that this rugged man’s man looked this clean cut and combed back in his school days. It’s amazing what a few years and quite a bit more hair can do to a person. He started acting at 2 years old and kept at it over the years to gain one notable role after another. He’s won Academy Awards and was nominated for his role in True Grit. The boy in the picture doesn’t look like cowboy material, does he!

1 Caitlyn Jenner

Via: people.com

When you see Caitlyn Jenner on TV or in the magazines, it’s hard to remember that she was ever a man. Looking into her past, you’ll see that she was actually Bruce Jenner, an Olympic gold medalist in the decathlon. She also played college football, was married several times and has six children. She was featured on reality TV along with her family in Keeping Up with the Kardashians and came out as a trans woman in 2015. She changed her name from Bruce to Caitlyn and she has since been called the most famous openly transgender woman in the world. She’s now starring in her own TV series about her transition. Looking at her now, it’s hard to imagine that this is what she looked like in school.

More About Brooke Williams

You’ve definitely seen retouched pictures of celebrities, but what about unretouched celebrity pictures? It’s impossible to go through a supermarket line without seeing at least one glossy, fabulous lifestyle magazine featuring an unrealistically attractive celebrity flashing a bright, white grin at you. Obviously, your first thought is usually, “Wow, he/she is hot.” But unfortunately, your second thought is usually, “Wow, I could never look like that.” Thus is the psychological effect of media “airbrushing” on our perceptions of what beautiful male and female humans should look like.

Some celebrities have taken it upon themselves to expose this important issue by leaking unretouched photos of themselves from previous photoshoots. Other celebrities, however, have been unwilling participants in this anti-Photoshop crusade, and have seen their unretouched pictures leaked online by militant media critics and ardent fans. In most cases, the celebrity pics are met with a collective shrug and a general consensus that the celebrities are still hot, even without Photoshop. But other times, the nonphotoshopped images and pictures of celebrities without makeup cause actual controversies, as in the case of the Great Beyonce Leak of 2015.

Many people think these pictures of celebrities unretouched are humanizing, even when they still look unrealistically beautiful. For instance, it’s nice to be reminded that Madonna isn’t as ageless as we thought, or that Britney Spears still has her tramp stamp after all of these years. Plus, there’s always an element of bravery in releasing untouched photos of yourself, whether you’re stunningly attractive or not.

How do you feel about unretouched celebrity pics? Let us know in the comments section!

Honestly, it feels like a lot changed for fashion in 2015. Resale took on a life of its own, athleisure changed from trend to industry staple, and plus-size models made major strides in changing the face of retail. Another trend we loved? Celebrities and models using social media to share unretouched photos, letting the world in on a little secret: They actually didn’t wake up like this.

Plus-size model Iskra Lawrence is the latest to embrace her flaws, sharing a tropical vacation with snaps that show off everything—cellulite included. This sort of body-positive messaging is something that’s worked for her professionally too; along with being heralded for her modeling work, she recently nabbed a top editor spot at Runway Riot, a new site she explained to Glamour as “amazing editorials with a diverse range of models. I want everything to be unretouched and not call anything plus-sized.”

While the pretty pictures definitely deserve a big bravo, Lawrence definitely isn’t the first to bare imperfections. Keep going to see the ladies who took a stand in 2015, and shared their reality with the world.

Demi Lovato for Vanity Fair October 2015

The photo shoot was unplanned and totally Lovato’s idea. “What does it mean to be confident? It means letting go, being authentic, saying I don’t give a fuck and this is who I am,” she told photographer Patrick Ecclesine. “I want to show the side of me that’s real, that’s liberated, that’s free. What if we do a photo shoot where it’s totally raw? Super-sexy, but no makeup, no fancy lighting, no retouching, and no clothing.”

Forget the filters and “perfect” posts — TODAY Style is getting real! This week is all about being honest, authentic, transparent and, well, real about everything, from wrinkles and body image to dressing room anxiety and aging. Use the hashtag #RealWomenHave _____ to share the topic about which YOU want to get real.

Love it or hate it, airbrushing and heavy photo editing is still a hot topic in 2018. The more blatant photo gaffes are fewer and farther between now that many brands and publications have pledged to nix Photoshopped images, but, still, they’re still out there.

These 10 celebrities have taken a public stand to call out Photoshopped images of themselves, and we applaud them.

1. Lupita Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o always wears her beautiful hair naturally on the red carpet, so when the Oscar winner realized British magazine Grazia UK had Photoshopped her hair on its November cover, she wasn’t about to ignore the incident.

The Kenyan-Mexican actress swiftly aired her disapproval on social media, posting a before-and-after image from the shoot on Twitter and Instagram, and sharing her disapproval. “I am disappointed that @graziauk invited me to be on their cover and then edited out and smoothed my hair to fit their notion of what beautiful hair looks like,” she wrote.

The magazine later apologized in a statement to TODAY Style: “Grazia is committed to representing diversity throughout its pages and apologizes unreservedly to Lupita Nyong’o.”

2. Zendaya

When Modeliste Magazine posted heavily retouched photos of Zendaya in October 2015, the actress, who has been a long-time champion of body positivity, was the first to publicly speak out against the publication’s choice.

“Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19 year old hips and torso quite manipulated,” she wrote in an Instagram caption. “These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have.”

Modeliste later addressed the issue on Instagram, acknowledging that the “re-touching of photos is a sensitive subject.” In the same post the magazine announced that “Modeliste Editor-in-Chief, Amy McCabe jointly with Zendaya and her parents made the immediate decision to pull the issue and are working with Zendaya at her request to publish the complete un-edited and authentic images from our Cover shoot in Puerto Vallarta.”

3. Solange Knowles

Stuff We Love

Get a daily roundup of items that will make your life easier, healthier and more stylish.

Solange Knowles released the song “Don’t Touch My Hair” in 2016, but It looks like Evening Standard Magazine didn’t take note. The singer posed for the cover of the magazine in October 2017 and wasn’t pleased with the final photo.

Knowles posted the original shot, which shows the singer rocking a sassy braid that circles her head, to show how the publication edited out her complex ‘do, captioning the post “dtmh,” or “Don’t touch my hair.”

The Evening Standard later issued an apology, saying “The decision to amend the photograph was taken for layout purposes but plainly we made the wrong call and we have offered our unreserved apologies to Solange.”

4. Meghan Markle

It’s pretty clear Prince Harry loves everything about his royal bride-to-be, Meghan Markle, right down to her freckles. So it’s likely he’d share readers’ disappointment that his fiancée’s freckles were missing on the cover of Elle France’s December 2017 issue.

The cover, which features a photo from a 2015 issue of Gritty Pretty magazine, shows Markle sans her signature freckles. This comes after the actress and activist told Allure that she’s always annoyed by this particular Photoshop fail: “To this day, my pet peeve is when my skin tone is changed and my freckles are airbrushed out of a photo shoot.”

We apologize, this video has expired.

5. Emily Ratajkowski

Emily Ratajkowski posted a photo of her Madame Figaro cover on Instagram in September 2017, but the post wasn’t exactly celebratory.

The actress expressed her frustration after the magazine shrunk her lips and lifted her breasts in the photo, writing: “I was extremely disappointed to see my lips and breasts altered in photoshop on this cover. I hope the fashion industry will finally learn to stop trying to stifle the things that make us unique and instead begin to celebrate individuality.”

6. Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington represents the epitome of class, and the way she handled disapproving of her ADWEEK April 2016 cover was no different. The “Scandal” star took to Instagram to discuss her feelings on the subject.

“Look, I’m no stranger to Photoshopping. It happens a lot. In a way, we have become a society of picture adjusters – who doesn’t love a filter?!?” she wrote. “It felt strange to look at a picture of myself that is so different from what I look like when I look in the mirror. It’s an unfortunate feeling.”

Washington also shared how proud she was of the article and thanked fans for being patient while she “figured out how to post this in a way that felt both celebratory and honest.”

7. Ashley Benson

Ashley Benson played the comically honest voice on the hit show “Pretty Little Liars.” Now that the series has ended, she’s continuing to dish out brutal honesty in real life. The actress recently spoke out against the show’s heavily Photoshopped posters in an interview with Stylecaster.

“PLL had put up this poster and it was from our first season and it was completely crazy. Nobody looked like themselves,” she said. “Even for magazine covers, they’ll Photoshop out a mole, make your boobs bigger or your waist four sizes smaller, and you’re like, ‘That’s not even me.’ You never know how it’s going to turn out because you have no control and you’re not editing the photos, but it sucks when you’re like, ‘Wow. That’s a completely different person.’”

8. Iggy Azalea

@IggySlaysUrFave love it, but i much prefer the picture before they photoshopped my thighs and hips to seem skinnier pic.twitter.com/6TfAA8gX9l

— IGGY AZALEA (@IGGYAZALEA) March 17, 2016

Despite the name of her album, “Digital Distortion,” Iggy Azalea isn’t a fan of photo changes. The rapper appeared on the cover of Schon Magazine to promote her album wearing a transparent corset-dress that accentuates her curves.

After the release, Azalea took to Twitter to share a side-by-side comparison how she looked before and after Photoshop. Although she admitted to loving the photos in general, Azalea said that she preferred the image “before they photoshopped (her) thighs and hips to seem skinnier.”

9. Meghan Trainor

Meghan Trainor pulled down her “Me Too” music video once she realized that the size of her waist had been edited without her permission. With lyrics such as “I see the magazines working that Photoshop. We know that s*** ain’t real. Come on now, make it stop,” the “All About That Bass” singer is known for celebrating her size.

Lorde shared two contrasting photos from her 2014 performance at Lollapalooza in Santiago, Chile on Twitter. One photo showed the singer with perfectly edited skin and the other depicted her naturally.
