Living the life of a celebrity is already tough enough, but with the high aesthetic standards of today, it’s even harder. You have to be on top of your game if you want to look good, especially when you hardly have any time to spare. Heck, we can’t even find the time to work out, let alone resist that heavenly slice of moist chocolate cake in the fridge! They say that when it comes to eating healthy, about 20% is about working out and 80% is what you eat and drink. Naturally, celebs (and us) look at the way we can change our food regimen, to shed those extra kilos gained over the Christmas holidays, so we don’t necessarily have to work our asses off in the gym. However, it can be quite overwhelming to find a meal plan that works for you in that jungle of plans. Which one do you pick? Of course every food plan depends on your average daily activity and your body shape as well, making it even more complicated. The most obvious choice is to look at who’s done a certain plan and actually looks good. You look at the meal plans of the gorgeous and glam, like Beyonce and Heidi Klum.

However, you’ve probably also heard of certain celebrities undertaking the strangest meal plans in an attempt to get rid of those extra kilos. Do you want to go through all of that just to get rid of your little love handles? No worries, we’ve narrowed down the ones that are most popular and successful, and which one you do best to avoid ‘cause they’re just plain strange.

24 GOOD: Beyoncé

Although Queen Bey has followed some extreme food regimens, like the Master Cleanse, where she ate no solid foods and drunk around 6-12 glasses of water (which we would not recommend), the new Vegan plan she’s embarked on is interesting and healthy. Together with her loving husband Jay-Z, they radically changed their meal plan to a 22-day Vegan one. They use an online plant-based meal-planner that helps them keep track of their nutritions and calories. Eating plant-based meals helps you obtain more anti-oxidants and is healthy for your heart and body, according to Tracy Lookwood, a nutrition expert. Way to go, Beyonce!

23 NOPE: Khloé Kardashian

via Pinterest

This superstar has had some problems trying to adhere to a specific meal plan. Especially having her first baby, she has been working hard to get into shape. Although she is now good on her way following a specific plan where she gets to eat 7 meals a day, she still sticks to her unhealthy habit of FirTea Detox tea. Detoxing is done by the kidney and liver and there’s no tea that can do that for you. Besides that, Khloé has had moments where she completely cut out dairy, soy and gluten which can lead to potentially missing out on vital nutritions.

22 GOOD: Heidi Klum

via Popsugar

Heidi Klum is the perfect example of how important nutritious and healthy food is to your body. She often starts her day with a fruit packed breakfast smoothie for her and her kids. Although she has her weekly meals plan scheduled out for her, she doesn’t always hold back. According to her, it is okay to have a cheat day! If you have one, make sure it’s worth it. Go for that rich truffle pizza or the big Mac, make sure you enjoy it, but don’t make it an everyday treat. Trying to fit exercise into her jam-packed schedule is hard and that’s why she tries to grab every opportunity that comes round. Ride your bike to the beach or jump along with your kids on the trampoline!

21 NOPE: Lady Gaga

via Style Caster

It’s called ‘The Baby Food regimen’ and as you can probably already guess, it involves eating only baby food purees! Not only Lady Gaga has followed this unusual food regimen; Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon confess as well that they only eat baby food for a while when they would like to shed some kilos. This means that they consume about 14 serves of baby food a day, which leads up to roughly a 1.000 calories. That’s hardly anything! Is this truly the best way to lose weight? We doubt it. Maybe they should just leave the baby food for it was actually meant for: the kids.

20 GOOD: Kim Kardashian

via Davina Diaries

Having a killer body like Kim Kardashian, you know you have to work for it in order to maintain it. Her feminine curvy body has almost become something as a signature for her and she has obtained by following a rigorous food regimen and strict exercise routine. Her go-to plan is Atkins, where carbs are almost completely left out and replaced by protein and healthy fats. However, she says that she has re-introduced carbs to her life, ‘cause they’re not all bad. She gets up at 5:30 in the morning and works out for 1,5 hours, mostly heavy weights. This is a meal-and-exercise -plan to envy.

19 NOPE: Gwyneth Paltrow

via The Georgia Straight

Although she’s known to follow a very strict regime of detoxing three times a year for three weeks, she now admits that her body is getting old and that she needs to give herself and her body some leeway. She still likes to work out a lot and often either skips breakfast (and instead works out) or has a light smoothie. Her lunch is about low-carbs and salads, which still doesn’t really fill you up. She then adds another hour of exercise, not cardio, but heavy weights. Her dinners are better where she sort-of eats anything she wants (but still avoids heavy carbs, sugars and processed food). That is still quite a tough meal-plan, isn’t it?

18 GOOD: Julianne Hough

via Julianne Hough

This dancer is all about living and eating healthy, but she doesn’t follow the regular masses in her meal-plans. She acknowledges that carbs are not the enemy and that you have to find a meal-plan that just works for you. Her abs of steel didn’t come overnight, though, and besides eating healthy, she works out a lot too, often with her husband. The good thing is that Sundays are her cheat days and she absolutely loves pizza! If you’d like to follow a new meal-plan without loosing your weekly pizza-day, this is definitely worth a try!

17 NOPE: Fergie

vis Listal

Besides her 6-egg omelet, the original singer from the hip-hop band Black Eyed Peas Fergie likes to have a shot of raw apple-cider vinegar. Twice a day, one before breakfast and one before diner. It is supposed to help you lose weight and although there is some evidence that it helps with digestion and clear up acne, it’s not quite certain whether it helps with weight loss. The idea is that the acidity of the vinegar you take before your meal makes you feel more full and thus helps you to eat less. We’re quite happy to have it with our salad, but not as a shot, thank you very much.

16 GOOD: Angelina Jolie

via Insider

We all have wondered what it takes to look as radiant as Angelina Jolie and her answer is the Ancient Grains plan. Ancient grains are not as mystical as it sounds; most of them you can find in your local supermarket. Quinoa, farrow, teff, chia seeds, millet, spelt and buckwheat are under this specific branch of ancient grains and according to this superstar, provide her with nutritions she can’t get anywhere else. Besides that, they also make her skin look great. Instead of pasta or rice, you can add a couple of those grains to your salad to make it rich in potassium, iron and phosphorous (essential for the growth and repair of body cells). Adding ancient grains to your dish is an easy, healthy change!

15 NOPE: Lily Aldridge

via IMG Models

Being a Victoria’s Angels model is hard and therefore, a tough food plan is necessary. Besides working out 6 times a week, sometimes twice day doing mostly Ballet Beautiful , she relies on Sakara Life, a plant-based food delivery service that costs about 99$ a day. She avoids alcohol and drinks coconut water and Chlorophyll H2O Juice instead. She hardly ever has a cheat day and mostly snacks on avocados and rice cakes. Talking about being a picky eater! She does like to have the roast chicken dish that’s from Gwyneth Paltrow’s cookbook, but this would be a tough lifestyle.

14 GOOD: Megan Fox

via Christmas Images

The actress and model of 32 has to keep up with the high standards and though her natural lean physique probably helps, she still has to follow a rigorous meal plan to stay in killer shape. She follows the Five Factor plan, just like Amanda Seyfried, where she eats 5 small meals a day and has a cheat day ones every week. She says that carbs doesn’t make her body feel great, so she avoids those too. Fruits and veggies are the stars of her regimen and she never skips breakfast. Besides that, she works out three times a week, doing a combo of cardio and heavy lifting.

13 NOPE: Renée Zellweger

via The Mighty

We all adore Bridget Jones and applaud her for her quirkiness and independence, but we know that the now 49-year old Renée Zellweger, struggled with yo-yo’ing her weight. True, sometimes it was necessary for her roles -gaining 20 kilo for the first Bridget Jones movie and then 3 weeks later, loosing 13 kilo. How did she achieve loosing weight every time? She’s tried many different regimens, ranging from the Cabbage Soup plan to the Atkins meal-plan, a plan rich in fats and protein and low on carbohydrates, but one thing that she does in order to lose weight is to suck on ice cubes to trick her body into thinking she’s full. That can’t be healthy?

12 GOOD: Jennifer Garner

via People

We still remember her role in that romantic comedy ’13 going on 30’. She mostly lives by a meal plan called the Fab Four, where every meal you have needs to include four nutritions: protein, fiber, fats and greens. This is a relatively lenient meal plan, where you can match and mix with your meals according to what you feel like in the moment. Making sure you get your daily fill on fruits and veggies, Garner is very lucky in that perspective. She and her three kids live on a farm and harvest their own meals from their garden. They even have beehives for honey!

11 NOPE: Mariah Carey

via peoplespostmedia

Living a life as busy as Mariah Carey can make you temporarily lose track of those extra kilos that can sneak in. In 2011, she had twins and went through a strict regimen where she lost 40 pounds (18 kilo’s) of just ‘water weight’, which is what it sounds like, holding excess water in your body. After that, she lost another 30 pounds (13 kilo’s)! But she hadn’t finished yet. In 2016, she reported that she had started a very extreme food plan where she only ate salmon and capers. Literally, only that. She didn’t like the regimen either, but apparently it worked. However, we do not envy you, Mariah!

10 GOOD: Amanda Seyfried

via Buro 24/7 Singapore

You would think that with all that singing and dancing in ‘Mamma Mia!’, Amanda doesn’t really need to worry about a strict food regimen. However, in order to get fit for In Time, she has been following a meal-plan called the 5 -Factor. The 5 stands for the 5 meals you eat in a day with 5 nutritional components; lean protein, complex carbohydrate, fiber, ‘good’ fats and a sugar free drink. Eating foods that are low in GI (Glymedic Index, which rates food according to their effect on your blood sugar levels), avoids food cravings. Besides all that, Amanda makes sure to work out often, like jump rope.

9 NOPE: Sarah Michelle Gellar

via SyFy Wire

The Cabbage Soup meal plan has had some controversial remarks throughout the year, but the 41-year old actress Sarah Michelle Gellar swears by it. The rules are simple: cabbage is very low in calories, about 33 per average serve and low in fat. Therefore, replacing cabbage soup instead of your regular dinner and lunch, you dramatically reduce the amount of calorie intake per day. And yes, it is mostly cabbage soup 2-3 times a day. Things you are allowed to add or eat with the soup are potatoes, tomatoes, red meats, brown rice, salad leaves, root like veggies and fruits for snacking. You must absolutely love cabbage soup to get yourself through this regimen!

8 GOOD: Kirsten Dunst

via HawtCelebs

We all know Kirsten Dunst to have a natural petit build, but the reason why this 36-year old still looks amazing is because of the Alkaline Acid plan. Currently one of the most popular ones around in Hollywood, this food regimen is all about making sure your body has the right pH balance. Eating less acidic food like processed foods, fish, and meats and substituting it with alkaline foods like fruit, vegetables, green tea and soy helps her to maintain a splendid figure. It basically ensures that you avoid excess sugar and fats and eat more veggies instead, which we all know is the magic way to have healthy eating habits and weight.

7 NOPE: Victoria Beckham

via CelebMafia

The previous Spice Girl has always been a light-weight, but even after having kids, she still looks the part. She is however very careful with what she eats and spends a lot of time exercising and preparing food and she expects a lot of her body. She starts her early morning by running 5 km and then has a two spoonfuls of delicious apple vinegar. For herself and the kids, she makes a ‘green monster’ smoothie with spinach, apple, kiwi, lemon, broccoli and Chia Seeds. She also has a spoonful of pollen, that is supposed to help her avoid wrinkles. Pollen, though?

6 GOOD: Jessica Biel

via Jessica Biel/Instagram

‘The Sinner’ star Jessica Biel has a tough food regimen, but with the right ingredients at home, easy to follow. The Paleo plan is 2013’s most googled food fad and basically involves eating to what our ancestors ate. That means a lot of veggies, fruits and nuts. Besides that, she’s cut out gluten and wheat and dairy, and eats gluten-free pretzels instead with a dairy free almond dip. If she’s at home, she tries to prepare meals from her back garden, like salads with nuts and quinoa. It is all very healthy, but she does sometimes allow herself to indulge in cookies or pizza’s, but then the vegan versions.

5 NOPE: Christina Aguilera

via The SandPaper – VillageSoup

Our platinum-blond singer has had some issues with loosing weight, though she’s stunning at any size. However, she managed to lose weight by following the 7-Day Colour meal plan, where you only eat one type of coloured food for the whole week. If you have purple, your meals might consist of blueberries and eggplant and if the next week was orange, you’ll munch on pumpkins and sweet potatoes. This plan is also called the rainbow regimen, doesn’t that sounds epic? The issue is though that you sometimes miss out a whole week on important protein or fruits, ‘cause it’s just not your colour. Life could be less complicated.

4 GOOD: Katie Holmes

via Pinterest

Katie Holmes is the perfect example of eating healthy. She often starts her day with a green smoothie and during the day, munches on raw, organic vegetables and raw almonds. She often avoids fruit, since they’re high in sugars and instead eats yams and carrot soup. Besides that, she has recently picked up boxing “to relief the stress of the day, like traffic.” We are certain that that helps too in shedding the extra kilos. Maybe it is all that healthy veggies that give her that sparkling skin and seemingly eternal youth!

3 NOPE: Madonna

Reaching the age of 60, ‘The Queen of Pop’ is still on top of her game with hardly any signs of ageing. This is not only due to good genes; she follows an extremely strict and rigorous macrobiotic plan that is mostly vegan. She works out at least 6 days a week for a minimum of 30 minutes, whether she’s on the road, behind stage or at home. Her regimen consists of 6 meals a day, 3 larger ones and 3 lighter ones, where she eats every two to four hours. The macrobiotic food plan is based on a holistic Japanese principles where she avoids refined sugars and processed foods.

2 GOOD: Jessica Alba

via Pinterest

Jessica Alba looks great and still enjoys her carbs and her secret addiction: popcorn. Lots of salted popcorn! At 2015, she looked for a change in her regimen after she felt exhausted and sought the help of nutrition coach Kelly LeVeque, where without her, she wouldn’t have been able to get rid of her popcorn and coffee addiction. She has a smoothie in the morning, sticks to one type of carb per meal with lots of veggies, but on the holiday’s she still goes all out. Although her personal popcorn machine is probably still in her home, she’s good on her way to make sure she gets all the nutritious she needs!

1 NOPE: Shailene Woodley

via Reddit

After her big success in the movie ‘The Fault In Our Stars’, Shailene has been on everyone’s radar. Although her acting and person might be popular, her meal plan is far from it. She’s been quite open about her unique eating styles, where she says that the tries to eat as organic as possible. One of the most unusual things in her meal-plan is her addition of clay into her meal plan. You heard us right: clay! She says it is supposed to help your body to get rid of heavy metals, because clay has a certain negative electrical charge. We think we’ll just stay with our chocolates after diner!

8 Celeb Diet Secrets That Are Actually Healthy

By Sarah Sarway

Although celebs can be credited for spreading many unusual or dangerous trends (um, the Master Cleanse?) there are a slew of Hollywood starlets who abide by really healthy habits.

From dedicated meditation practices to early morning fitness classes, there’s a surprising amount we can learn from movie, TV, and pop stars.

The same is true when it comes to healthy eating. While you may think that they rely on low-cal faux foods or insanely restrictive meal plans to stay in shape (many do!), some celebs actually live a pretty holistic and well-balanced lifestyle.

Check out eight healthy celebrity diet tips worth adapting into your lifestyle, below.

8 Healthy Celebrity Diet Secrets

1. Gabrielle Union: Hydrate like crazy.

The actress credits her glowing, youthful skin to a strict hydration habit. Union, who drinks a gallon of water a day, says all that H20 has had a tremendous effect on her hair, nails, and skin. She aims to guzzle down half a gallon before noon and the other half by 6:00 p.m. Union has been doing this since her thirties and calls it a total life-changer. We couldn’t agree more.

2. Goldie Hawn: Eat meals mindfully.

Goldie Hawn is going strong and looking great at 70 thanks to lots of healthy habits. An important one on her list is eating mindfully, which her personal health coach credits with helping the actress differentiate between emotional and actual hunger.

3. Carrie Underwood: Keep a food journal.

The country singer says food journaling is one way she maintains a super fit physique. “I’ve kept a food journal forever, since I’m a bottomless pit, and I can out-eat everyone I know,” the vegan told Cosmopolitan. “Once I recognized that about myself, I started tracking my diet, which helps me make better choices and pay attention to what I’m eating.” Underwood uses the MyFitnessPal app, but research shows writing down your meals the old-fashioned way works just as well.

4. Jennifer Aniston: Don’t deny yourself comfort foods.

Although she stays slim mostly via no-frills clean eating (“Some form of vegetables or salad with protein—pretty basic,” she told ELLE), Aniston doesn’t deny herself conscious indulgences like pasta. For example, her husband Justin Theroux makes an “irresistible” pasta carbonara. (Cue swooning.)

5. Aly Raisman: Eat complex carbs early in the day.

The Olympic gymnast knows a thing or two about fueling up. (After all, her day job is kinda active…) When it’s practice season, Raisman makes sure to get her carbs in early. Her go-tos are yogurt with granola or whole wheat toast and a banana, both of which help her stay full and fueled up for hours on the balance beam.

6. Busy Phillips: Drink supercharged coffee.

Phillips starts her day with a brain-boosting cup of Bulletproof coffee. She starts with freshly-brewed coffee, two tablespoons of grass-fed butter or ghee, a tablespoon of of Brain Octane Oil, and two scoops of collagen protein powder. Phillips credits the drink for firing up her metabolism and keeping her skin smooth.

7. Jessica Alba: Include important nutrients in every meal.

Health coach Kelly LeVeque had Alba revamp her diet to include what she calls “the Fab Four” plan. The actress and Honest Company founder makes sure to include protein, fat, fiber and greens in all her meals. With a smart, simple strategy like that, it’s no wonder she says she’s able to stay energized and full all day long.

8. Selena Gomez: Don’t obsess over the scale.

To avoid an otherwise tempting obsession with hopping on a scale constantly, which often “breeds obsessive thoughts and behaviors,” Gomez says, she sticks to the jean test. If she notices her favorite pair don’t fit like they usually do, it may be time to ramp up the workouts or cut down on the salt.

The Hollywood Diet: 8 Foods Celebrities Eat on Set

The paparazzi are a lot more interested in snapping photos of our favorite actors while vacationing than while working. All of these images of sand and sun can make it easy to forget they spend plenty of time researching roles and shooting scenes, sometimes spending incredibly long hours on set. Because of this demanding schedule, access to tasty food is a necessity. Though many stars stick to healthy eats, some still allow for the occasional indulgence. Read on to find out how some of your favorite actors keep themselves fueled for the day’s work.

1. Salmon

Salmon |

Cardiologists might not be able to convince their patients to eat more fatty fish, but celebrities have embraced the advice. According to The Times-Picayune, stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum weren’t satisfied with the typical carb-heavy fare available on movie sets, so they decided to make a change when filming 22 Jump Street. The actors looked to a catering service called Your Nutrition Delivered for healthier eats, frequently digging into salmon.

They’re not the only ones looking to seafood to stay fit, either. According to Every Day With Rachael Ray, Joe Manganiello typically ordered salmon with plenty of leafy greens for dinner on set while filming True Blood. Recreate his meal in your own kitchen with this healthy salmon and spinach dish from Ellie Krieger, featured on Food Network.

2. Fruit

Blueberries |

Most of us do a pretty lousy job of eating enough vegetables, and even the sweet taste of fruit isn’t enough to boost our produce consumption. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a report earlier this year indicating only 13% of Americans get enough fruit. Perhaps we should look to our favorite actors for diet inspiration because they certainly don’t shy away from the produce. Robert Downey Jr. was known for hiding snacks all over the Iron Man sets, including blueberries. Amy Poehler and Paul Rudd, who co-starred in 2014’s They Came Together, like the sweet stuff for a healthy snack as well. They were snapped munching on some apples during a break.

Though craft service hasn’t traditionally offered much in the way of healthy foods, there’s been a shift in the last decade or so. NPR followed a team to the grocery store to gather food for the cast and crew of Burlesque back in 2010, and they loaded up on an impressive amount of fruit, including strawberries, bananas, and pineapples.

3. Chips

Chips |

While most of the ladies stick to salads and other low-calorie eats when filming, Jennifer Lawrence sees no reason to skip out on some of her favorite snacks. She famously almost ruined a dress while filming American Hustle thanks to the stubborn orange dust from a bag of Doritos. She even told Harper’s Bazaar UK she usually reaches for some type of crunchy, salty snack between takes.

4. Protein-Packed Snacks

Beef jerky |

Sticking with lean proteins and vegetables is usually the plan for actors when their roles involve showing a lot of skin, but they still need to keep up their energy when they don’t have time to sit down for a full meal. In these instances, protein is probably the best choice. Joe Manganiello laid out his typical diet for Men’s Fitness back in his True Blood days, and he regularly reached for almonds, peanuts, and jerky. Often, he combined those protein-rich foods with some type of fruit. It’s a healthy and pretty tasty snacking strategy.

5. Salad

Salad |

No surprise here. Celebrities are under a lot of pressure to maintain their figures, so salad is a no-brainer for on-set eats. Some go so far as to stick to the same one. Courtney Cox made headlines in 2010 after revealing to the L.A. Times she, Jennifer Aniston, and Lisa Kudrow ate the same lunch concoction every day for 10 years on the set of Friends. It was a variation on a cobb that Aniston doctored with chickpeas and turkey bacon. Cox told the publication Aniston’s culinary prowess made it possible to stick to the meal,”because if you’re going to eat the same salad every day for 10 years, it had better be a good salad, right?”

Though she’s branched out from her former usual, Aniston hasn’t stepped away from salads. According to, one of her more recent favorites is made with bulgar, chickpeas, feta cheese, and cucumber. You can get a similar taste with Once Upon a Chef’s Middle Eastern-style salad.

6. Cookies

Cookie bars |

For actors with a sweet tooth, it doesn’t get any better than the simple pleasures of a cookie. Though Claire Danes usually opts for fresh vegetables and salads, she likes something sweet to nibble with a cup of coffee. The actress told Bon Appétit she had a soft spot for rusks, a type of twice-baked cookie similar to biscotti that’s wildly popular in South Africa, while on location for Homeland.

Even the queen of healthy eating, Gwyneth Paltrow, likes the occasional sweet. She hired chef Kate McAloon to cook for her when filming Iron Man and couldn’t resist an occasional blondie with marshmallows and coconut. Paltrow loved the treats so much, she even added the recipe to her lifestyle website.

7. Lobster

Lobster |

The quality of on-set food usually depends on the production’s budget. Instead of leaving it up to someone else to figure out, Will Smith took matters into his own hands on the set of Concussion earlier this year. TMZ reported the actor organized a gourmet spread with lobster tails, filet mignon, and other high-end eats. Not a bad way to break for lunch.

8. Everything in sight

Chicken |

Dwayne Johnson clearly hits the weights to maintain his physique, but his menu is equally important. He shared his seven-meal-a-day diet with Muscle & Fitness, and it’s pretty impressive. The lineup includes such massive amounts of protein, rice, and vegetables, it’s hard to imagine he ever stops eating. It must work, though, because Johnson recommended the same plan for The Wolverine star Hugh Jackman when he needed to add some serious heft.
